I’m there right with you. This episode broke me. This show has quickly become one of my favorites of all time. The execution from writing, storytelling, acting, cinematography, and the score(looking at you Bear McCreary) has been sensational! Looking forward and dreading to see how this season ends.

There was a deleted scene from *_Fellowship of the Ring_* of Sauron forging the One by stabbing his own hand and mixing his blood with it, so I'm wondering if there's gonna be a version of that scene finally shown. While there were countless betrayals that had been built up by evil manipulating good and being more powerful than thosr that stood against it, Elrond suffering the absence of a friend when he needed it most, and just sitting in shock, repeating the words, _“Durin will come…”_ over and over hit me like a truck. Sauron FINALLY starting to show his true power after solely sticking to just manipulation for _SO long_ makes the threat of what a Dark Lord poses feel even more harrowing. I cannot IMAGINE what the finale will have in store.

This episode was so good. The acting, the armour, the scenes. How can you hate this show. And apparently in a book (not sure what) but Sauron was with celebrimbore for 300 years! Can you imagine having a “friend” for 300 years to find out it’s been a lie the whole time.

Some say that this episode is trash but to me this was the best episode so far. Seeing Celebrimbor's broke down was so emotional seeing his workshop destroyed, seeing his city destoryed by orcs and Sauron took control his people. I hope he doesn't die in this season, I want to se emore of Celebrimbor, the actor did a good job to his character.

I'm right there with you, Louise...this episode was intense and I can't wait to see what happens in the season finale (tomorrow as of writing this comment). My only quibble is that Melian was referred to as "a Valar" which is grossly inaccurate (nominally and grammatically, since the singular of Valar is Vala). She was of the Maiar, same as Sauron or Gandalf. The Valar are orders of magnitude more powerful than the Maiar...think Manwë, their leader, or Aulë, creator of the Dwarves, or Melkor before he became Morgoth. Melian was a Maia who fell in love with the Elven king Thingol in Beleriand and they ruled Doriath, a forest kingdom hidden by a magical force called the Girdle of Melian, which made it impossible for outsiders to find their way through the trees to where the Elves lived (until Beren). I don't want to get too deep into First Age lore, but it does irk me the writers got that one detail so wrong.

They only have the rights to the Appendix of LOTR and in these, Melian is called by Tolkien himself "Melian of the Valar" - he never mentions the word Maiar so they may not be able to even use the word itself. So yeah, it's understood that it's "of the people of the Valar" and not actually a mistake

@@ladyeledhwen2112 I've read LOTR and The Silmarillion five times between 1986 and 2004, but probably only read the appendices twice, and definitely not in the past 25 or so years, so I never caught that discrepancy. I wonder if he addresses that in one of his letters...I have the book, but have only read a few of the letters. One thing for sure, Tolkien had trouble with consistency, but he wasn't a modern professional fantasy writer, where it's practically a requirement that you put together your worldbuilding into a cohesive whole before you ever start writing the story.
