A lot of people criticize Scout Taylor Compton's performance or the way she was written in Halloween II as being "insufferable" or whatever, but I have severe PTSD as well and have actually put in Zombie's Halloween II because of how well I connect with her portrayal of the effects of severe trauma in these films. Zombie's Halloweens were all about trauma response, and it's great that you talked about it here! : )

I love Zombies take on this movie Franchise. I remember seeing these in the Theater and it was so loud, gritty, disturbing, scary etc even makes a person think and even through all of that I enjoyed it. Now I will love 1978 and part2 to my core. But for all the aggravation Zombie had to go through I still feel they are well done. I wasn't surprised that it was dirty and gritty that's his style so knew that was gonna be the baseline but welll done all the actors did extremely well. ❤

Rob Zomibes Halloween did succeed in at least changing the timeline. Instead of 5yo Myers in 1963, he's about 10 in likely 1990-1991. If they do another Halloween franchise someday the HAVE to move on from 1978, probably to 1998 to update the chronology

I really liked the first one. Second one had its moments (the bathroom scene killing the cops daughter was savage). Was it a perfect cinematic masterpiece from a technical standpoint? A lot say no but I liked the childhood angle seeing what shaped him and I think both of the movies are the most savage in terms of how viscous MM was with his killing. I totally agree that MM started to become more spooky in the movies vs scary but MM was absolutely viscous in the Rob Zombie movies. My least favorite part was the spiritual white horse angle in the 2nd movie.

Zombie talked about how he only really enjoyed doing the stuff that was different from what we saw in the original film. To me, both films are interpration of the series. Is the first Zombie Halloween as good as the original film. But it's a great interpretation of it. What i liked about halloween 2 was that it felt so original and that Meyers was a nomad. The second film felt more like a Zombie movie. Kind of like Tim Burton did with Batman Returns.

“Halloween II” has really grown on me over the years, I’ve actually come to enjoy it quite a bit. I encourage everyone to take the time to track down the THEATRICAL cut of the film, though. It’s a much better version of the film. The dialog is cleaner. The characters are far more likeable. One of those rare instances where the studio was actually correct in forcing the director to make changes to the film.

What makes Michael so effective in the original duology for me is that there isn’t anything you can point to and say “if this was different about his life, all this could’ve been avoided.” I feel like it would’ve been more effective if the movie depicted the Myers family as a normal, stable household, but still have Michael be “off,” and still culminate in the murder of the bully. There’s this misconception that sympathetic, relatable antagonists are inherently better than unsympathetic ones, and I think Michael is an example of why that’s not true

I think alot of influence for villain back stories in horror movies was spawned by Wes craven and a nightmare on elm Street and how big Freddy became, and looking back most killers had a reason of what made them killers even in the 60's. however the non story of what made Michael a murderer was something that made him the icon he is. I think that made alot of people turned off by both robs h1 origin and the fact they made Laurie his sister in earlier sequels. But the story has to evolve somehow so it doesn't affect my viewing on it I try to take sequels and reimagings as a entity of their own greatly inspired by the original. Thanks for the reviews!!!!!! Call me crazy but Jason goes to hell is my favorite Friday movie. The final chapter is right up there with it. But Jason goes to hell is a nonstop roller coaster ride. A total blast it’s got tons of great Easter eggs for other horror, films and it gives you the Jason that you were used to and then some.and I don’t have a problem with him jumping bodies. That actually explains how his appearance changes so drastically throughout the franchise. Especially between parts two and three. Jason goes to hell all the way baby!

@@MadBloodMatt yeah I have thought about that aspect of the look changes and I have come up with a theory. Also, as a fan of this franchise, I don’t have a problem with them humanizing Michael in these films. In my opinion, Rob Zombie Halloween films are specifically movies about a serial killer named Michael Myers. All of the other Halloween films part three of course, are about the embodiment of evil. The shape. if you want to see the shape, there’s plenty of other ones to watch. If you’re looking for a more traditional experience. But if you want something, a little more unique in the franchise, you have Rob Zombie films. And I did not mind talking at all in the directors cut. Should Michael talk? No. But it’s the only movie in the franchisewhere it happens. And that makes it unique.
