In this video I take a look at a newly-published report by the Australian Royal Commission revealing their conclusions following Case Study 29, in which the practices and policies of Jehovah's Witnesses in relation to child sex abuse were examined. As predicted, the Commission's report is scathing. And with Watchtower due to appear before the Commission again in March 2017 for Case Study 54, there is no indication of Watchtower having any desire to implement urgently needed reforms.

I grew up in a abusive household, where my mother, who is a JW, was the abuser. When I was 20 I ran away because my mother beat on me, left scratches and marks. I left my house with blood on my shirt, MY blood, and just the clothes on my back. I finally gathered the courage to report my mother to the elders, (I had pictures and proof of the abuse), the elders insisted I go back home because, "where would I go to the meetings? And who would make sure I got fed spiritually?" So fck the fact that my mother was beating the crap out of me, I had to go back home. And nothing happened to my mother because of the two witness rule. 20 years of my life, wasted, in a cult and getting emotionally, sexually, and physically assaulted. THIS IS REAL PEOPLE. there are many JW children growing up like this. It has to stop.

I faded away about 35 years ago, after having been a very active witness for many years. However, until approximately a month ago, when I stumbled across you on You Tube, I still felt the JWs had the truth, and that I would pay with my life for not wanting to be micro managed by them. To my utmost astonishment (and enormous relief) I did a 180 degree turn around after listening to you Lloyd, in one very enlightening hour. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. In fact, I've recently started making a point of telling people who know me, about the fact that I've seen the light. Never in a lifetime would I have thought that I would change my mind, but I did - in 1 short hour, listening to you. How could I have been so blind back then? It's frankly embarrassing.

In my childhood congregation there was an elder I viewed as a father who made a move on me when I was 15. I was at the computer and he had been drinking- he came up behind me, put his hands on me, bit my ear and said he could just eat me up. I knew I couldn't tell my parents because of of how they reacted to me speaking up about what my grandfather had done to me so I called my friends mom and begged her for help. She came right over to talk to me and my parents eavesdropped outside the door. They made her leave and blamed me for what happened, told me I'd go to jail because it was my fault he did it, and for years after they said I had dragged their name through the mud. Reputation. It all comes down to WS's reputation. If they speak up or alert the authorities they won't look so perfect. They'll look flawed. Their reputation will be tarnished. It was that way for my parents and I know where they got it from now. He's still an elder to this day.

I was sexually molested by a ministerial servant from age 4-7 hundreds of times. The lack of care and help from the elders and my parents as well as the grilling judicial committee that treated me, a 7 year old girl, as the villain, was worse than anything that pedophile did to me. Years later in my teens I had flashbacks and emotional damage from it and my father, the Presiding Overseer, said "It wasn't that big of a deal. Get over it." These videos are saving lives... being 5th generation JW in my family I knew that you never ever go to elders... no matter what has happened.. if something really bad has happened, go to the hospital or police. In the 90s I studied with a young adolescent who was abused by her stepfather, and after he got out of jail for the abuse he was passing the mike like nothing happened. Her mother also took him back and she (the adolescent) was living with him again (I don't know if the elders pressured the mom to take him back). I faded out a year later.....

Twenty years ago i was warned by an elder to 'keep quiet or i cud get done for slander' when i voiced my concerns reguarding the questionable behaviour of a 'brother' in the congregation i was in at the time. As a result i left the organisation as nobody took what i was saying about pedophiles infultrating the organisation.

Kudos to the Australian Government for taking this action to protect their citizens and to identify the risks posed to members of the public. All I can say is I am disgusted but not surprised that an elder has been removed for reporting child abuse allegations to the police. We have to get them! This is unconscionable! Thank you so much for your videos. I have been awake for one year, though dfd since 2009, and they have given me so much encouragement. I read that they are being fined and every day that they don't pay, the fine goes up. In early Nov 2016 the amount was 1/2 million. I also read that over half the donations go toward paying child abuse settlements (hush money).

I’m just curious, if an elders child came to him and said that he or she was touched or abused by a non JW, like a teacher, babysitter, non believing relative, would they still practice and apply the “TWO WITNESS” rule? I bet they wouldn’t!!!!! Which makes them hypocritical!!!!! The elders and the organization would advice the parents to go to the police, file charges and so forth!!! Now if someone told the witnesses to apply the “TWO WITNESS” rule, it would be then that they would see how fucking ridiculousness this teaching is!!!!!

One of the most galling things about all of this (although it's undoubtedly progress) is how utterly dismissive most JW's will be regarding these findings. For most, they will find comfort in their well established mistrust of the authorities and will still cling to the notion that the organisation is faultless. Until there is far more widespread and significant exposure of this and future cases as well as firm legal consequences for the organisation, it'll be conveniently swept under the carpet and soon forgotten about. Still, it IS progress and it will hopefully wake some up to the hideous reality and truth of how culpable the organisation has been in the suffering of victims of childhood sexual abuse. Appalling.

Sadly, most JW's will NEVER look at this. If you bring it to their attention they will not listen and mentally block you off and write you off as a depraved apostate. They will make excuses and predetermine it to be an attack from Satan rather than even consider the facts. JW's will in their mind feel that this is simply more evidence that Jehovah is about to bring down death from the sky to all who are not JW's.... They are ruled by fear and held in tiny mind prisons were they are never free to even think for themselves or even ask legitimate questions. Absolutely correct.. I live in the UK & faded many years ago, I fell upon the A.R.C FEB. 2016. I told my JW parents in Australia. They cut me off Skype and mother e mailed and said I was pocessed by satan. They told the immediate family including my sister & brother in law who is a high up elder in Sydney branch for 15 years. Despite 102 e mails, cards, letter and a video of myself asking why the wall of silence, I continue to be blocked on all social media and the land line is on answer phone. ITS CALLED SHUNNING, MY CRIME WAS TO TELL THEM SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR RDLIGIONTHAY DID NOT WANT TO HEAR. Roll on March 2017 and power to your case a.r.c.

If it was an attack from Satan as they claim would they not give a defense? Would they not be able to point out how it is false and show at least some kind of evidence to the contrary of the ARC??? You see instead, they are told not to even watch the ARC. That to even look at it would be an act of disloyalty to Jehovah. I can imagine that it is the case that the elder or elders got into trouble for co operating with the police. you aren't encouraged to go to the police with anything that's in connection with JWs as they want to either appear perfect to outsiders or they take certain situations as proof of the persecution Jesus said his followers would experience. quite aside from the two witness rule. for example when I was in the ministry nearly 20 years ago my companion, myself and my 2 year old son called on a householder who pulled a gun on us and held us back from getting away and when we did manage to, he followed us down a secluded road . I was terrified. I reported it to the police who were lovely and empathetic and they went and questioned the guy about what he did. I was villified by an elder for reporting it to the police, and was told I should expect that treatment in these last days! what about protecting my small son? of course our children's lives are less important to JWs than propping up their propaganda.I could say more about the main topic of this video too, the findings of the commission are true. child abuse and domestic abuse are not dealt with properly by JWs I know that from people who have suffered and are still suffering.

Truth Seeker I woke up during an elders meeting. After the Tuesday night meeting the elders got together. I realized then it was all fake. I wanted to run away and scream! I waited until it was over. I had to say the closing pray and that was my last prayer and my last meeting ever! I was the service overseer before I left. I emailed the cobe and told him I was done. Two problems: 1. he meant only JW's will survive and that simply does not make sense. 2. That is what Rutherford said and all those people are dead. The same thing is happening in the U.S. as well. . I didn't experience this, but I do have an interesting story. I'm just so conflicted, but I decided I'm going to stop defending them. I live with my mom, primarily, but My dad was a big part of my life, but I feel he could have done more. The way I realized this was I thought back. I thought, Oh! I'm not baptized, but have done everything that would let my dad know his plans didn't work. It never happened, and Anyway, at that point my life over there got awkward, because I felt he was disappointed. I was raised on Sunday meetings. I would go there every two weeks and I would go to the hall with them. I felt guilty, but told no one. People don't know what it's like on the inside. Religion is where you get to see people's true nature. My mom was a buddhist and that religion connected with me more than my dad's, but In my young mind, My dad's had more rules, than mine, and salvation, and revelations was and still is my favorite book, but I just couldn't wrap my head around losing my mom. Any, Anyway, then came resentmenthat, I realized that making people suffer for your happiness for only 1000 years was selfish, and I'd rather dye than serve. I still afraid of him, so I said nothing. Anyway, I've learned to accept him for who he is, and I've just accepted that I'll never be the daughter he wanted me to be, because not only have I denounced their god, I'm blind, which he recently told me in their passive aggressive way was a burden. Anyway back to what I was saying, I feel like he could have done more. He never did anything to further my schooling, he didn't even volunteer his time for any of my 15 wears of Iep meetingst. Those were to discuss my indevidual education plan, or come to any of my choir shows. I know they don't usually come to those, but sometimes he went to Christmas at his Grandma's. Now that I've seaid that last statement, he never came to anything I put on. No birthday parties, or just little gatherings I put on just to see my whole familyain one spot when I came home for the weekend while at a school for the blind. I mean, if he socialized with his grandma like that, why couldn't he drop by spontaniously like he did with them? He did anything without my mom asking him first, and that still continues. That leaves me feeling doubts. I loved him unconditionally, so why does he have to do the pretending? Just be in my life or don't be. Don't be in my life only when asked to be there. He did come to my graduation, but I don't think he would haveacame if he wasn't invited. when I couldn't make it to my step sister's graduation , he told me there were limited seats anyway. He didn't invite me either. My step nana got to go. She's not in the truth, but I was never invited. Hmm. Also, he's always been kind of passive aggressive, which to this day pisses me off more than it should, but after I told him my true beliefs, he got worse. Once I told him something that provokes his Jehovah lectures, and he told me straight up that his religion was better than mine, and he tried to use my mom as an example. That pissed me off but I was too afraid to say it directly, because I thought it would ruin our unsteady relationship. Anyway, when I was thinking about shunning, I wondered, was he limiting association with me? If so, why? I'm not baptized, but I guess I could se how he may not want to get too involved in that kind of behavior. Buddhism is a spiritual religion, so maybe he doesn't want to get stumbled. But if that's the case, then why does he let My brother from my mom be friends with th€their son? Maybe it was afterat his wife's wishes. At first he wouldn't let him. It could be his screwed thinking over what was a mom? I don't know, but I don't thinkI'll ever find out. Also, I'm scared for my younger brother. He is so smart. He has the attitude where he knows people of this world can be good, and you are responsible for your own decisions. I don't know what will happen,but I worry because he doesn't have opportunities like mine, and I can oly hint at things. I asked him if he would serve Jehovah, and he said "Probably,." I asked why, and he said "It's the most natural." I don't think he'd fit in their, and eventually get hurt. I don't think he knows how ugly his life could get on the inside. Our congregations are very hypocritical, so maybe he could get by, but he's 16, and doesn't really participate. I'm just afraid they'll preasure him to get baptized. I think he needs to wait until he gets older and he can move out on his own. then he can the world for what it truly is. Beautiful. There's nothing I can do, and it's killing me.

The watchtower criticises others for using portions of scripture out of context. They quote dueteronomy 19:15 to support the "two witness" rule. Indeed it does say that the word of one person cannot convict another, just because that person says it is so. But neither is an accusation proved to be true just because two people say it is so. Have the watchtower ever read the rest of this passage of scripture? It seems that they haven't! if they had they would see that just because there is only one witness the accusation was not dismissed out of hand. The passage goes on to say that the matter must be THOROUGHLY investigated. Mearly asking the accused "did you do it"? is hardly a thorough investigation! There is no dedicated legal system in the little congregations of watchtower followers and no qualified investigators. So come on elders show this humility you are always saying you have and refer it to those who really know what they are doing.

Why do they cling to this "two witness" stance? It comes from Deuteronomy and the Old Covenant and Law which they also teach was abolished because Jesus said he fulfilled the law and created a New Covenant with his people. It makes no sense.

Several scriptures from the New Testament are used (or rather misused) by the watchtower to try to prop up their stance on the two witness rule. It seems that they don't understand the scriptures in their historical context, or in any context. Accusations were not just dismissed they had to be thoroughly examined whether they were brought under the Jewish or Christian system. Two or more witnesses means more evidence is gathered. If the watchtower guys don't understand that your right it's insane!

John Cedars thank you so very much for this vid! Teachers and medical professionals are required by law to report signs of child abuse...SIGNS of child abuse! Why is it then that, the religious faction is not held under the same rule? If a perpetrator confesses to his/her priest 'forgive me father for I have sinned, I have raped my four year old niece'...shouldn't it stand to reason that this should be reported by said priest as it is a serious crime? Is it left up to the priest as a conscience matter? How many 'Hail Mary's' otherwise, are assigned for a matter such as this? The problem is that within the religious community, this type of behavior is not seen as criminal but, as 'sin' (and a slight sin at that). So, what needs to be inacted into law? When a confessor of such a crime such as molestation of a minor for example, is made known, the priest should be bound by law to report. The internal court system in religious groups is obviously maintained to this day and age to save face, appear righteous and to continue to grow in wealth under the umbrella of a 501c. There should be more scrutiny placed on 501c's and warrants issued on records. There is the right to privacy BUT, yet again there are victims rights, as well. In most of these cases it involves children, children who do not have the capacity to speak up for themselves and they need an advocate. This advocate should be in the form of a law requiring ALL groups, religious or secular to report...period!

Oh I don't doubt that an elder got the hot end of the poker for going to the authorities...there are JWs who hold jobs where if they hear of any type of abuse like this, they HAVE TO report it to authorities or they're breaking the law. And aside from that, my mom, sister and I were visiting relatives (all various levels of 'spiritual health / sickness' according to the org.) and the father who was mentally unstable, had been drinking and took issue with his son and 'went off', ending in the father chasing the son with a running chainsaw through the orchard to the house...my mom locked the door after the son ran through it, and the father told her to open it or he'd break it down, so she did...the son locked himself in his bedroom, and the father got a knife from the kitchen and was stabbing the door jam with it telling his son to come out and take him on...mom got the phone and tried to dial 911, and the father ripped the cord out of the wall (this was the early 90s) (that right there's a federal offense)...and I quietly slipped into another bedroom with a phone, locked the door, and called 911. Meanwhile, the son's mom gets home and acts like it wasn't that big of a deal and called the elders. The cops get there and the father acts like he's a sober cooperative guy, the elders get there and yell at my mom, sister and me for calling the cops (they were 'hot under the collar'), and I'm shaking like a leaf from the inside out. That straw broke the camel's back for me regarding trusting anyone in that organization. There is so much crap and denial going on, they should register to be a governmental intelligence agency.

Although, I did confront one here in my street just last week and she said she knew about the a.r.c and that they were misprepsented and the best of all, her bro. In law from Bethal here in London is helping the inquiry here. I started to ask her why then have they fought through the courts for the past couple of years trying to get out of going to the inquiry. She and her friend walked away very quickly. I grew up in this religion and I found out about plenty of abuse as I got older.thankfully I never was on the receiving end of any of that abuse. The two witness rule only worked due to God always being the second witness (I don't believe in God) however this no longer works as God can't be the second witness but they won't do anything about it cause they don't have to which shows how arrogant they're and how little care they show for they followers.
