Hey Joel, great description of target panic... surprised at so few comments. The mental side of archery is by far the most important and not only the mental but drilling deeper into 'zen' for want of a better word is even more important and so little knowledge shared on it - it's where the real archery journey starts.

Basketball players have no impact to deal with. So the reason they choke is actually opposite of target panic. They are dealing with an open loop control system where they are using automatic movements. They choke in high stress because they try to switch to a closed loop control system and it messes up the totality of the movement. The "Yips" in golf is very similar to target panic in some regards but is more like the above explanation of the mix up of open and closed loop control systems.

Great content, Joel. What bow is that? I am thinking of buying the black hunter hybrid longbow but I've never shot a hybrid. I have heard they are smoother to draw and just a song fast as recurves but I can't find much about them.

Hmm, if you claim target panic is bracing for impact, then why does target panic happen for golfers and basketballers and all sorts of sportsman too?

Or you just keep practicing like they have done for years and years, in til you get really good . They didnt have classes on most of this years ago, but people learned how to shot really well ,even without this . But hay, give it a try
