DANG those were some pretty catfish fillets! Pink and THICK!😊 I grew up in the South, and these reminded me of the fish dinners we'd get at 'fish camps' (small country seafood restaurants) on Sundays after church. You get your "Sunday dinner plate" = your fish, your shrimp, your hush puppies or cornbread, and your big spoon of collard or turnip greens! Mmmmmm mmmm! 😋 (Maybe some banana pudding for dessert if you wuz extra good while the sermon went on 😉) Thank you so much for showing us how to make these. 🎉 Wonderful memories. If you haven't tried catfish prepared this way, you're truly missing out, y'all. ❤

I made your catfish tonight and everyone was soooo happy! I was blown away by how tasty it was. My room mate was skeptical that it wouldn’t be bland cuz I’m white as hell, but he gave me the thumbs up! Thankyou! No bland ass fish up in this house dammit! I shall defeat my childhood one recipe at a time

AB, I love this. I fry my fish the same way and use Louisiana Red Dot Hot sauce. But when it comes to making tarter sauce, I add a bit of horseradish for some bite (to taste). If I'm out of horseradish, I'll put my hot sauce in it as a substitute. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Hi AB, can't wait to try this on Northern Pike and Trout. You sure make it look simple. My ancestors used Dill a lot, I think to much and I lost my taste for it, but a dab is good. Have a great week!!
@everydayden582611 ай бұрын
Great to see you using corn meal. It is so much better than flour and is what we always used growing up when cooking horned pout and brook trout. Up here in NH we don't have much in the way of cat fish, a few channel cats and horned pout is all I have ever seen. However in my opinion, horned pout when not muddy tasting, is sweeter and almost always better than trout. Fresh fried fish with homemade bread, freshly made homemade butter and frozen raspberry jam was always a great way to start the day after a night of fishing. Glad to see you keeping it old school my friend !!

My favorite hot sauces for adding nice flavor with a bit of heat are Cholula and Cajun Sunshine. I might prefer the Cajun Sunshine by just a little bit. When I want fire I go with Marie Sharp's habanero sauce. Still has excellent flavor but ooooh that heat is niiice.

@ElleBrOw11 ай бұрын
let the fish grease cool then pour into an empty water bottle. NEVER reuse fish grease ❌
@WastrelWay11 ай бұрын
I don't know what AB does, but leftover oil can be strained through a towel or cheesecloth and stored to be used again. It's good for 3 or 4 times. After that the oil molecules have broken down too much for it to be any good. Cholula is my go-to hot sauce and a dash of it would work in tartar sauce.
