If you owe money meaning you financed... thats between customer and bank not customer and dealership. Even if you financed the vehicle through them. They're out of the picture. They got their money and you owe it to the bank. As it was mentioned if you owe into it specially in a buy here pay here scenario. It is different. But ought to be disclosed upfront.

It has nothing to do about financing, the tracker is to know where the car is and then to steal it back, often taking out the owner

My car is Paid in Full. The little dealership used a starter disabling device, and a year after purchasing, it was used to stop my car. I have the Title. This is done to generate sales, and cause trouble.

Youd have to prove their intent, there are instances of dealerships trying to put hits out on buyers once they paid in full, wack them and take the car back

Everyone hates car dealerships so it doesn't matter what the truth is. If the comments are negative, everyone will agree and complain regardless of what the facts are. Do dealerships install these trackers on all of their vehicles? Yes they do. Why? to sell them to the customer at the point of sale. And we can figure all of this out by using simple common sense. Do car dealerships lend money to customers? Of course they don't, so why would they take money out of their pocket to install trackers for no reason? If you have one, look at the left front door jam where they put the stickers for tire inflation, VIN, etc..., and you'll see another one with all the tracker info on it. The reason they install them on every car is because they're very cheap and enough people buy them it covers the cost. The only exception I'll give is for those small, rip off used car dealerships. You would expect something like that from them, but 99% of cars sold don't come from these places. And even with those, they typically get the customer to sign off on it when they buy the car. Most people don't read documents before they sign papers, so who's really at fault?

That's true
@dennisgibb79584 ай бұрын
Nope, this is completely false. The very tracker he is talking about is for inventory management. It is not used by the bank. The gps trackers for the bank are much different and do NOT interface with the ODB as it can easily be removed. Real trackers are hard wired into the wire harness in areas that thieves and others would generally not look. Oh, the finance company will order a unit to be installed and it will be one of their choosing, and there is paperwork that you sign that states that there is a tracker in it. The exception is the odb add on for dealership asset location. It is supposed to be removed upon sale. It does not always get done as these passive devices are cheap. Good video of fake information..

I personally never experienced this, but my niece who had bad credit purchased a car from dealer that will finance anyone. This dealer installed a device that shut the car off when her payment was late. I don't know if she signed something authorizing this or not. I don't know if it tracked her or not, but it did shut the car off.

@@dennisgibb7958 you are probably correct. The dealership that sold this car never took the device off the car, even though it was paid for, in full.
