You are by far my most favorite KZbinr. I’ve watched you for a while and I’ve used the same techniques to get lean. I shredded 80lbs while still gaining muscle and becoming stronger. I’m 15 years old and I’m 6 foot 165lbs. I’ve been doing minimalist training for months and I’ve really enjoyed it. It has helped me a lot. Thankyou for your advice!

I´ve applied ideas from your previous minimalist training video in my gym sessions since some months ago. In no way Im a tryhard (Im pretty chill at the gym) and still, appliying your basic principles I´ve seen crazy progress in what my strength and aesthetics relates to, in a relative short period of time (3 months). Thank you man!! Bless you and best wishes 🙏

As a dude, I came across Natacha Oceane's channel outside of my algorithmic bubble - Mostly appeals to women in their teens & 20's. From her I derived a lot of knowledge about how to run properly to minimize damage & heart rate escalation, which led me down a 40% cardio allocation like today. Her "hybrid" framework is something that I want to style my physique off of, as I believe that functionality and aesthetics are priorities that should be equally valued & pursued. The 60% for weights, I learned from you Wanhee. Thanks for all the help that you provide in your videos, and if I may suggest, try utilizing text posts and polls with your growing subscriber base, so that you can bounce ideas off people and get more accurate in regards to how you target solutions towards trends in your base.

Here to tell you. I like your videos. Just please don't fill your youtube channel with unnecessary videos. It will be hard to find good ones. I fear eventually I'll stop looking up to. Or make a habit to ignore your one important video out of five just because I ignored the other 4 too. Good luck. I like you and your physique. Great inspiration.

When it comes to the calisthenics aspect, a lot of them end up neglecting legs (either because it's very hard to load or it's actively disadvantageous to have bigger/stronger legs) so they may not be as strong when their foot is on the ground

I have a question for you Wanhee. Does this minimalist style of training work for skinny guys too? I am bulking up and because I am tracking my weights I was able to add 5 pounds to my standing overhead shoulder press. Thank you very much my guy!
@swfarnsworth
@swfarnsworth 6 ай бұрын
I think "minimalist training" is more an attitude about your goals and training regimen than a specific routine. If you think you should be gaining more muscle for how much you're training, you might take a look at your protein intake. Wanhee recommended 100g per day or more in another video.
@Ali-fx6jd
@Ali-fx6jd 6 ай бұрын
@@swfarnsworth Yes I remmeber that video lol, As for the 100g a day I do get around that amount and I am eating in calorie surplus. My question is strength training good for skinny guys? But I think you are correct. its about a training style not a certin training regimen.

I'm also a skinny guy in the middle of my fitness journey and I'd say yes, specifically because rest is so important for people like us who are literally building something from nothing. Your body needs that extra recovery time! Congrats on the progress man, we got this

@@Ali-fx6jdprotein will depend on your body weight. The current recommendations from research for building muscle is 0.7-1g/lb of body weight. So say you are 140 lbs, you would want around 100g+.

5-10 is a good starting point. not too high or not too low. that being said, rep doesn't really matter as long as you focus on getting stronger on every exercise
@TheJohnnyGomes
@TheJohnnyGomes 6 ай бұрын
It says in the video: 4-10. The biggest thing of minimalist is the mental aspect, the not going everyday, go like 3 times a week, do just a few exercises, mostly composite exercises that are more demanding bu don't target a specific muscle (like a pull up for example) and give your body and specially your head, time to rest and recover

Fill alf your plate with vegetables or salad, it will fill you up and keep you lean. Avoid sauces. Avoid sugars. Carbs and fat are good, they feed your muscles. I once made the mistake of going heavy on the protein and leaving carbs (rice, pasta, etc) out and I actually got weaker in some exercises. Balance, but yea if you're hungry, lots of vegetables and salad along with your protein and carbs will fill you right up

You really misrepresented the various schools of training. Bodybuilders, powerlifters, and calisthenics athletes all want to be stronger, leaner, and more aesthetic, so you can't make arguments like only bodybuilders have a bad relationship with food or their apperance. I don't agree that there's an "obsession" with protein, and to claim as though only bodybuilders worry about their protein intake is ridiculous. Calisthenics athletes don't have body dysmorphia or fixate on their diet? Powerlifters aren't healthy because they "likely carry injuries" due to "heavy weights"? Let's compare injury incidence rates of powerlifting to soccer: 0.008 per 1000 hours for powerlifting vs 62 per 1000 hours for soccer. Is soccer unhealthy because people get hurt? Strength is an incredibly strong predictor of longevity and health, and powerlifting is an effective way to cultivate strength, as are calisthenics and bodybuilding. Of course, there are ego lifters and uneducated teens throwing around weights but most bodybuilders learn a lot about their anatomy and movement patterns to safely engage a muscle under tension through a safe range of motion. When done correctly, this is mobility and health. No muscles left behind. A variety of vertical/horizontal/push/pulls, attention to synergist muscles, stability, bracing, basic and functional movement patterns like the squat, hip hinge, overhead pressing, etc. To claim that calisthenics athletes by default have better mobility and "function" because they use rings, hang from bars, or do fancy dragon flags is nonsense (that was not a dragon flag being executed in the video by the way). I could go on and on pointing out the flawed logic in this video, but nobody is hear to read a book. To those new to fitness, always be cautious of anyone who comes at you with "Here are the problems, but lucky for you, I can sell you the solutions".
