Why are people always saying, Anyone listening in (present year) ? As long as you're still digging the band, why do you need to know if anyone else is still in the same boat? I still listen to tons of music years later, but I don't need to ask if the bands are still relevant, because I think they are still great. Haha, sorry but I guess I'm just tired of watching the same comments everywhere.

Not only are The Smithereens one of the best and most underrated bands in history, they are also some of the nicest and most down to earth guys in the world. I had the pleasure of meeting Pat DiNizio, Jim Babjak and Dennis Diken. Three truly great guys who love music, love each other and their fans. RIP Pat you will always be missed. Thank you for excellent songs such as "A Girl Like You" A true Rock and Roll classic.

Never forgot that - yeah, Pat, I really liked the band, the music the sound. Shoulda invited him out for a beer. Sweet man....

Bob Stamm of High Ridge Missouri wrote this song in 1978. He had it on cassette, I was in A Daytona FL club in 1984& gave it to the drummer who was saying they were working on a band project called The Smithereins.True story. Next year the song is on the radio KSHE 95 STL MO

The thing that always got me about The Smithereens was I use to picture them as reasonable young dudes in their early 20s. (I had only really heard their music) But they were guys in their mid 30s who beat expectations and got popular on the college/alt rock radio at the time. Goes to show your never too old to beat expectations.

I saw these guys at a Long Island club back when this came out.. loudest show I ever went to...my ears are still ringing. 😁🤘. I got to chat with Pat too , back around 2000 , he had a website called “Psycholaberations”. The idea was , you’d send him some lyrics , and for 300 bucks , he’d write and record you a song and send it back on a CD. I talked to him a few times , but I never did send him anything , in retrospect , I wish I did.. RIP Pat.

Being an old fart, I forgot how much I liked a lot of rock from the 90's. Most of my friends were still listening to 60's pop, rock and folk. This song brings back a flood of memories... Listening to it now is like opening an old photo album.
