I always thought the Mikey character had potential to play an important role, I watched the series after it ended, but with him on the show Junior would've had a lot more power to keep Tony in check. He was younger than Silvio and Paulie, more experienced than Chris, and more brains than Furio. That crew with Richie, Mikey, and Ralph, with support from New York, would've swallowed up the Soprano family by the end of the third season.

Gene Bone since this comment I’ve been looking up the rest of the mob and in real life a Soprano family would really be a glorified crew. Philadelphia is run by the commission and Philly has or had their people in Atlantic City. Gambino and Genovese families ran most of Northern Jersey, along with a Lucchese crew. Essentially, a New York-Jersey war would practically be impossible or suicidal to the Jersey family. What the Jersey family did/does is irrelevant, but it makes for an interesting story.

In regards to the Jersey family tho, I read about Moretti who I believe was a capo for the Luciano/Genovese that helped out Sinatra and ran Jersey operations. I know Anastasia moved there too. Then I hear about Bobby Manna and Blackie Napoli, capos from NY and Philly working in Jersey who held sway in Jersey. Supposedly, Angelo Bruno was killed so that Genovese member Tieri could take over a bookmaking operation in North Jersey, which belonged to a Bruno's killer and consigliere. So really, I'm wondering how much power did Jersey really have when a real family like Philadelphia had to take orders from NY. Besides, whatever power they had now it's nothing like before, tho obviously not all of it is gone. NY has five family after all and Philadelphia is right at their backdoor. I'm gonna have to look at those guys you mentioned because the other stuff seems to be more consequential to the story. There's just no way a Jersey capo takes out a NY boss and lives to talk about it.
