I really like the idea of Pearl's mother dying by fishermen. Stephen Hillenburg was a climate activist and marine biologist, speaking on the evils of illegal whale hunting would fit his motive. Also Whales being endangered could explain how little we see them in the show.

My theory is Mr Krabs married a whale in the past but ended up divorcing/separating with her due to how expensive she was. That would explain the "takes after her mother" comment. The mother ended up marrying another rich creature who would have supplied her with all the things she wanted, which kinda made the mother forget about Pearl. The planned 2 parter episode would have probably been about Pearl's mom wanting to have Pearl live with her and using her lavish lifestyle to lure her into living with her, but Pearl ultimately refuses after seeing how much her dad truly loved her.

My theory: ok so u might be right about the two whale prisoners in bikini bottom, they didn’t put pearl up for adoption, they went to jail, pearl was taken by child services of bikini bottom and when she escaped, mr krabs found her wandering around, and kidnapped/adopted her, thats why there is only two other whales in bikini bottom that are similar to pearl, pearl takes the sperm whale trait from her sperm whale dad and her mom’s traits for money/shopping, so my theory is, those two prisoners ARE her parents. Mr krabs either adopted her or kidnapped her when she escaped C.S.B.B [child services of bikini bottom] through a tiny hole in the gates. And her parents probably went to jail for unknown causes. Let me know what you think of this theory. 😊

My guess is there isn't any truth regarding the matter whatsoever, it's a hole in the history of the series that's kept intentionally open because the mystery generates intrigue which keeps people invested in the show. If they ever actually answered the question of if Pearl is actually Krabs' daughter or not, the entire intrigue around that mystery would die off and the show might actually suffer from it. Especially since the truth could never be as interesting as what people dream up in their heads.

The theory that states that Pearl's mother is an inmate has more evidence to it, as we can clearly see that she has an anchor tattoo on her biceps and we know that Mr. Krabs also has an anchor tattoo on his torso (Seen in "Kristy Towers"), which could point out some correlation between the two. Like the fan theory, I like to think that since crabs are bottom feeders (no hate) he was the first to find pearl along her pops carcasses at the bottom of the ocean floor. Now here's how mine branched out into the dark: mr crabs family ATE or worse, PROCESSED whale meat for the crabby patties from pearls parents/mom, and when they were about to eat/butcher pearl they noticed she was alive, guilt ridden crabs adopted her. The prisoner whale theory is feasible because she has an anchor tattoo (krabs was in the navy). The hook theory doesn’t make sense (unless krabs and the whale were a couple) because he wouldn’t have been able to comment on her spending habits. The last theory sort of disproves itself on the same grounds, not to mention if he came face to face w krabs youd think hed say something about it

my theory is that Mr Krabs and pearls mother started dating after pearl was born and Mr Krabs helped raised pearl. then the hooks come down and the killed pearls mother. then Mr Krabs went in full responsibility of pearl. it makes since because Mr Krabs said at 1:08 pearl takes half to her mother, which indicates Mr Krabs knew/dated pearls mother before her death. then pearls mom dies to the hooks shown in s:1 ep:20.
