Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

2 жыл бұрын

In today’s Buddhist world, Shantideva is universally considered an exemplary scholar-practitioner. However, this was not always true. While living in the ancient Nalanda monastery, his peers doubted him and labeled him as lazy and uneducated. In this teaching, Mingyur Rinpoche introduces Shantideva and tells the story of why his peers looked down on him. He also shares how Shantideva’s life story - as exemplified in The Way of the Bodhisattva - can serve as an inspiration for us today.
This teaching is from Tergar’s new The Way of the Bodhisattva: Immersion online course. To learn more, click here learning.tergar.org/course_li...
Mingyur Rinpoche's teaching schedule is available at tergar.org/schedule.

May the blind see the forms, May the deaf hear sounds. May the naked find clothing, The hungry find food; May the thirsty find water And delicious drinks. May the poor find wealth, Those weak with sorrow find joy; May the forlorn find new hope, Constant happiness and prosperity. May the frightened cease to be afraid And those bound be freed; May the powerless find power, And may the people think of benefiting one another -Shantideva

According to Buddhism all living beings are mortal including those who dwell in heaven where gods/ Devas and Devi. Heaven is one of the 6 REALMS where Brahma. etc reside. They have very long life but eventually die and they before when ends come. It is said that biggest suffering for God is knowing their imminent death and where they will be born in 6 realms of existence. One has to get out of this cyclic existence / Samsara birth and death cycle. This is achieved by Buddhahood or enlightenment or Nirvan or freedom from birth and death.

Beautiful teachings means Shantideva is very wise and all this time keep his wisdom and knowledge hidden from others. He levitated means, he achieve such state that make levitation happened (miraculous signs of realized person). Over and over again it is taught by our teachers that if we don’t understand and practice according to Hinayana principles we have absolutely no foundation for our practice at all!
