Reus wasn't screwed because of being loyal, but because of untimely injuries. He was supposed to become Germanies main player for the world championship 2014, but got injured in the last game before the tournament, because of which he didn't become world champion. After that he also missed the european championship 2016 due to an injury which means the first world or european championship tournament he played for Germany was that awfull 2018 tournament. Then he wasn't playing in the 2021 european championship because he wanted to avoid risking another injury by stressing his body with an additional tournament and lastly he missed the 2022 worldcup due to another injury.

Madrid was his chance and his ruin, to be honest more than ego i think he was just frustrated, he was such a high caliber player that was always overlooked, but in a galacticos era it was hard to pick who to bench and all the rest just pulled in more money from fans. This is a life story for some of you guys in your 20s working 9-5 jobs, don’t think it’s just for superstars. Let a nigga like me tell you, if you’re TOO versatile at work, the job will take advantage of you to no end. Also, if you’re TOO good at a position, they’ll keep you there and make sure you never move up in the company. I’ve seen it happen at every single job I’ve ever worked at, some guy is either so good they deny him promotions just so he can stay in that role or they take advantage of him and send him to every location because they know he can do it.

Sorry, but Guti was not in Xavi's league with respect to vision, timing or passing. I give Guti credit for being close to the best in Spain and on certainly on RM a the time, but nothing more. Let's not try to fictionalize flawed has-beens into fish-tale legends just because we have a new young audience with no idea about players from the past. It's a cheap trick.

Correct. Guti was a good player but nothing else. If he was on Xavi level he would have carried that Spain team back then or Real Madrid. He wasn't even Top8 player in Real Madrid back then which says enough. Xavi and Zidane are comparable but Guti is like 2 or 3 tiers below.
