This song makes me feel so melancholic because I used to hear it a lot with my friends back in highschool, skipping classes, going to parties, doing drugs... you know. Now I´m 31 and have a formal job and many of my friends live far away, and eventhough I enjoy life in a different way (a better way actually) I know those highschool year will never come back. A couple years ago we all went to a festival and the strokes played that night... I cried with this song and have the time of my life. Thank you Strokes for the great memories.

This video absolutely epitomizes the sentiment of the song. Just going out, and spending time with the people you love, while being ignorant to the fact that it’s a moment that cannot be recreated. It’s when you’re in the moment and you know a fond memory is being had. Timeless.

Naw, they were elite rich kids that met at a $50,000 a year prep school. They were critical darlings because they were from NYC and wore the right designer clothes. Yet they scoffed at middle class kids that came from the suburbs. The Strokes made some really good songs. But I never cared for their super compressed sound. The drums sound like soup cans, and the guitar sounds like its coming from telephone speaker.

In the early 2000,s after taking my mum to Canada to see her dying Mother, I came home to find the girl who told me she wanted to be with me forever had moved in with a guy she met in the pub. I was a mess for a long time after that. Drinking, getting in fights and fired from work. Just a complete mess.I moved to another part of town so I wouldn't see her, and changed my number because she kept phoning me to say she still loved me?! I went out with a friend who took me to a club he worked in called' Chips with everything' to get me out of my house, met some great people that night, and halfway through the night this song came on, and I remember thinking' you know, everything's going to be OK. The track talks about the idea that one day things will get better. The lyrics reflect the singer's search for comfort and assurance in the hard times, knowing that the present is only temporary and that someday, the difficult situation will pass. The singer expresses his fears and insecurities, but he also has hope that even in the toughest of times, he can continue to strive to grow and make things better. He ultimately finds hope in being able to take control of his own future and not waste time worrying or being overwhelmed.

Somewhere else on the net the puzzle over whether he sings Maya or my ex came to my attention, so I came here to listen for myself. I realised that I can't make out very many of the words at all, and that it doesn't matter because when I think of this song, I just sing the guitar line… and not even the guitar line to this song. (It's from Selfish Ways by Dogs) Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Lyric In many ways, they'll miss the good old days Someday Someday Yeah, it hurts to say, but I want you to stay Sometimes Sometimes When we was young, oh man, did we have fun Always Always Promises, they break before they're made Sometimes Sometimes Oh, Maya says I'm lacking in depth I will do my best You say you want to stand by my side Darling, your head's not right Ah, see, alone we stand, together we fall apart Yeah, I think I'll be alright I'm working so I won't have to try so hard Tables, they turn sometimes Oh, someday No, I ain't wasting no more time And now my fears they come to me in threes So I Sometimes Say, fate, my friend, you say the strangest things I find, sometimes Oh, Maya says I'm lacking in depth Shit, I will try my best You say you want to stand by my side Darling, your head's not right Ah, see, alone we stand, together we fall apart Yeah, I think I'll be alright I'm working so I won't have to try so hard Tables, they turn sometimes Oh, someday I ain't wasting no more time

I am 24 years old and I recently have discovered The Strokes and I can not stop listening to this song in particular. It just reminds me of the fun times I have with the guys on the weekend while we drink, smoke cigarettes and get high. We just have a goofy and wild time. It's sad that this will all end once we get older and some of us start to get married and have kids and all that. I guess I will just enjoy these fun times while they last :)

It's really funny how a song can elicit so much emotion like nostalgia and many many more, I always get this weird feeling in my chest but I know Its because of the people I've met and shared experiences with over the years. I'll never forget them and will always strive to make more with the people I love.

I don't even listen to the strokes, but GBV is my favorite band and I saw a photo of them at the family feud table. Somebody said it was from the Someday music video and that GBV's good friends with the strokes, now I have newfound respect for the strokes :D.

This video is something else. Besides being a beautiful song, it evokes this feeling in you that reminds you of some time in your life that you miss and will never forget. And even if it is an amazing memory or feeling, it's rather sad in the aspect that you'll never be able to relive it. Friends come and go, people you once knew in general come and go, even if it was just someone you said hey to through your old high school hallways or whatever. And it's those little details in your life that you'll never forget because things change but aren't forgotten. That's the beauty of this song, the meaning behind it is amazing. Someday nothing will be the same and we'll all miss those good ol" days because fate, you'll find, does say the strangest things.

I ‘m a new fan and while it’s kind of sad I missed out on them when they first came up, it’s also really wild that I have no memories associated with them whatsoever. It’s like having a clean slate inside your brain to appreciate them as brand new.
