I bought a bus! But I'm not going to do one of those skoolie conversion things like all the silly hippies do. Instead I'm going to flip it over, stand it back up, flip it over again, and use it for general shenanigans all in the name of "training"
Be sure to check out our Patreon project where we use whatever it brings in in a month as our budget to help someone the following month! I was never a fan of the Patreon idea until I realized that I can use it to help others instead of myself, so I created the Patreon Project where we can all combine our efforts to make a real difference in people's lives and make the world a better place! For as little as a dollar a month you can join the group of awesome people already on board and be vote to help steer the ship along the way!

If someone had told me two years ago that my favorite KZbin channel would be about towing and recovery, I would’ve thought you were crazy. But then I discovered Casey LaDelle. I’m a 78-year-old woman, who would’ve thought that I would find this so entertaining and educational. Casey’s personality is 10 star. He cracks me up and I love this channel. And yes, I’m sure his wife is going to be just thrilled to see this in her yard. But, she will be by Casey side because it’s a learning opportunity. And everything he learns will help keep him safe.

That bus is outfitted exactly how I went to school when I was a youngin. No seats for the students or the driver. The driver just stood there holding the wheel like a ship captain (most of our bus drivers were dwarfs, they had an obvious advantage) and the students just stood in the back, leaning into the turns. Always helped me to stand there like my favorite shortstop, Mickey Morindini .. crouching in anticipation. God Bless those days I’ll never forget them.

This is actually a great idea. Learning to roll flipped vehicles using two ropes is important. One is a pull, the other is a catch. And point loading the catch can be dangerous, not using a catch can destroy your recovery truck.

"Training" the new code word, weather that be for shenanigans, or to justify crazy or not pre-approved purchases! When you mentioned you bought it, my first thought was you were building some weird project like or with the Utah off road KZbin group. In that training, you might invite the local fire/rescue crews up, or bring it down to their station for one of their drills, I imagine they don't get to practice stabilizing a bus very often, there is lots of valuable training they could do that doesn't involve bending, or cutting it up to bad.

If this was SnowRunner, you'd have 15' of winch line, you'd need a 50 ton winch just to move that bus (which would have sunk to the frame as soon as the tires touch anything but pavement), and then once you got it on the road it would fall over. Oh, and the only wrecker in the game has a wheel lift that stops about 6" above the ground and a 40 ton crane that can't lift a soda can, let alone a vehicle. Watching you work really sinks home how ridiculous that game is, even more than being a former heavy haul operator. I think those guys need to watch your channel and see how that stuff really should work. 👍👍

Training is always a good thing, and when you can do it in a controlled environment, it's even better. Being able to experiment and see "yeah, that would work" or "what in the world was I thinking when I did this" and not having any pressure from outside influences is some of the best ways to learn new things and explore. The fact that you are showing Ethan all of this just makes both of you safer when you are doing a recovery!

If you're going to Play and Make Content, it would be cool to see a Pull Force Meter/Gauge to see how much force it actually takes to do some of these recoveries. A school bus may weigh 20,000 lbs, but the weight is still on the wheels. How much pull does it take to get it out of the mud, up a hill, or get it off a high-centered situation?
