The new DLC absolutely crippled the cleanest Japan strat since they stopped you from joining the axis. Please do a new guide. Edit: a channel named Antasil made a wonderful new guide that we can pull off the old strat by joining the Spanish civil war and then get mil access from nationalist Spain to naval invade Britain. Everything else is the same.

i got the Tour de France achievement as the Netherlands with historical ai off. i didn't even intend to get it, but as it turns out, if you set your garrison to be 2 width bicycle units, and occupy all of France with those garrisons, that counts

I don't think Paradox understands what the Shogunate was. It was a military dictatorship that supposedly served at the will of the Emperor, but in practice had complete control of the them. The fascist Empire of Japan in our history was a military junta. Even Emperor Meiji, who had the Shogunate dissolved, was still a puppet of internal and external powers (coughtheBritishEmpirecough) During this time period, at all levels of the government, military leaders were involved. The Emperor was a figurehead, like with all east Asian monarchies. It was a de facto Shogunate. Yet the non-aligned name for Japan is the Japanese Shogunate. Which makes no sense. Non-aligned should be true monarchist. As the military government of fascism is not in power. MacArthur was considered by some Japanese citizens to be a sort of Shogun. And, technically, he was. He was the military leader of Japan in charge of keeping order and for Japan's defense. Fun fact: From what my grandmother tells me of Japan after the war, MacArthur's rule could be considered a little bit socialistic. Her family was rich, descended from noble families of old, and had tenant farmers who worked the fields they owned. The MacArthur occupational government saw to it these farms were given to the tenants for dirt cheap and my great grandfather's funds were seized. This man, who was an architect and respected member of the community, who would've been a great asset to rebuilding the bombed ruins of Japan. The stress would eventually cause devastating illness, and he died soon after. Am I upset about it? Not really. We're all subject to things outside of our control. Sometimes even those in power. Rant over. You may now call me a weeb. Also yes, I did just say all this under an iSorrowProductions video about conquering France with bicycles.

Speaking of achievement hunting. I got over 80 of them in the last 3 weeks. Haven't even touched the new dlc in single player yet. Over 300 hours of HOI4 later. It was time to to do the us ones. And I got wrecked. Mostly because I deleted my army & started watching ISP videos. Also I didn't expect Japan, France, England & Italy to declare on me.

Im new to hoi4 and got the base game only when it was on sale some weeks ago. Apart from playing the game i also looked at the different commands. I found 2 different commands for research. So if you use the research all command, it seems, some kind of hidden technologies are researched instantly too. But now i don't know what to do with them. I just wanted an ultra tech country but now i don't whats the best tech, also because i have no idea about for example bike divisions or amphibious tanks. Are they listed somewhere so i can find out which is best and what to use it for? E. g. there are two typed of trains and i dont know if can use them in the same way

Navy in hoi4. In Mp it's important, in Sp it's trash. In Sp you just put it on strike force in order to land. I tried really playing with navy in Sp, but the problem is there won't ever be some realistic small engagements like a few destroyers and light cruisers fighting. No. It will always be the whole Royal Navy against the whole Italian navy. But then, even if you did play as Italy and did build a strong navy, all of your capital ships will get badly damaged and take a few months to repair and you won't be able to do anything. Irl countries wouldn't send all their capital ships in battle so that when some get damaged they have more in reserve, but in hoi4 you can't do that because your enemy will always bring all of their capital ships in fight, do if you don't do that you, you will get oblitirated.

The new DLC is both my favourite and least favourite of the new DLCs based solely on the peace deal system. On one hand it's absolutely chaos and creates some of the most eye watering, brain splitting, hemorrhage inducing border gore ever conceived by a human being..
