Yes! The sun is needed to sustain life! Look at the animals when it's a beautiful day outside. The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing around, etc. It doesn't cause cancer either. The sunscreens themselves with the toxic ingredients cause cancer. The only thing the sun does with too much exposure is burn. For the fair skinned like myself, and like my Dad told me when I was working with him back in the day, when I was younger, he said "Do it gradually a little every day, then increase it the more you get your skin conditioned to it" Now I tan instead of burn. So go outside, and enjoy the day with the beautiful sunshine that God gave us.

I think that the statement about melatonin needs to be qualified. Melatonin is a critical anti-oxidant which is produced both by the pineal gland and by the mitochondria in the tissues of the body. A critical benefit of sunlight exposure is that the infra-red or near infra red light of the sun during daylight hours increases the production of melatonin by the mitochondria, even though this does not circulate in the blood, unlike the melatonin released by the pineal.

Health benefits of sunlight that go beyond vitamin D from the light exposure with cholestrol in the body: 1. When the sun hits your skin and retinas, it can increase serotonin, which can potentially affect your mood. 2. The sun can reduce melatonin. Melatonin helps you sleep. 3. The heat and humidity from the sun may have the power to decrease viral loads. 4. UV has antibacterial effects. 5. The sun can increase resistance to infection. 6. The infrared wavelength of the sun can be great for wound healing and decreasing pain.

I felt terrible, the dad lived his life, bought multiple motorbikes, got a tan went to the gym. Sorry for mentioning it here, but my baby has been having a cough on and off for over two months. Especially at night. One time she took antibiotics for bronchitis. The thing, the coughing stopped two and a half weeks ago, but the nigh-sweats started. She is now on my lap and I am planning to test her for TB next Monday. She hasn’t had any vaccinations due to allergies. What I am trying to say is first thank you for the amazing content, secondly don’t get in toxic relationships because your cortisol and kids cortisol is all time high, when living with my ex I would get the weirdest illnesses. Indubitably, the essence and richness of the sun are a mitigating factor in preventing potential harmful viruses from entering the body. It should also be noted the combination of sun & salt water will add further purification. Citizens of states , such as, California & Florida can capitalize being blessed with both. If you can afford a pool ensure it is composed of salt water.

Totally agree. Currently living in Pittsburgh which is tied with Seattle for the most rainy/cloudy days. preparing to move. The endless grey skies depress me. Vienna, Austria, is similarly grey. The sun doesn't appear all winter. I found it depressing. The lack of Sunlight is a major reason Vienna has the second highest Suicide rate in Europe.

Hey Dr Berg, from down here in Atlanta Ga! Would you please do a video on vaccination? I know there will be a vaccine for COVID coming at some point and I'd like information to help me decide whether I should have my family do this. I totally agree with the idea of vaccination, but I've heard some controversy from a few folks whose opinions I typically trust. I did a search and did not see any videos from you on this subject. Thanks!!

1:25 in another lecture you update the suns influence on "intracellular" melatonin. It increases it and that promotes a more strong immune system since it protects the mitochondria. I think an update here is needed...

In the old-time houses, they always built all kinds of porches which partially block sun and rain but enabled me ( in my 1909 Virginian) house to sit out all Winter with a blanket or on rainy days ditto. Question: How direct does the sun need to be to get the Vit. D benefits? I would gradually build up a tan (no sunburn/no sunscreen). If it is cloudy, how much of the Vit. D gets blocked? You can get a sunburn on a cloudy day, how does it block Vit. D? I would take off my glasses and read without them to get more light in my eyes. I would roll up sleeves etc. when possible but always had face and hands soaking up sun. How much sun do glasses block? If nothing else, sitting /walking outside on cloudy or colder days would get you fresh air and the benefit of the trees and plants you were discussing. I like keeping the heat low since the overheated air makes you feel dried out and tired. Glenn Doman discovered that your brain functions better at colder temperatures so he would keep temperatures in his lecture room in the 60's and warn listeners to wear sweaters for better learning.

Hello, from my brief research you still get Vitamin D on cloudy days. Regarding the best time of day, I seen conflicting info, some say very early in the morning before 8am, some say around noon is the best. Unfortunately there are still lots of questions regarding the sun. For me I notice the more sun the better, so I just focus on being outside as much as possible during the day time. Good luck on your journey.

Deborah Tofflemire the government never said you can't go outside to get sun or can't go for walks. You have the freedom to sunbathe in your yard or do exercise outdoors. You invented that in your head.
