I absolutely love the rivalry between Sonic and Metal. Sonic KNOWS that Metal's prime directive is to protect Eggman, and he isn't shy about reminding him. Metal Sonic brings out Sonic's attitude more than any other character.

Honestly, with the new combat system Frontiers introduced, Surge could serve as an excellent equivalent to Vergil from the dmc series. A character that reflects the player, and is one of the biggest challenge of the story.

9:18 This is such a pretty shot, and is pretty symbolic of Belle trying to act as a connective tissue between Sonic and Metal, someone who slots right in the grey area, she’s Sonic’s friend but also robotic sibling to metal, it’s just such a beautiful panel that they didn’t need to make to visually represent Belle’s intentions but they did :) also the sunset is so gorgeous

6:47 One of my favorite little things in this issue is the gun that Surge is looking at is the same one that Eggman used to hold Amy hostage in Sonic Adventure 2. "You've turned into a big time villain, Doctor!" That's still IMO the best story cutscene in the entire Sonic series. When I saw that gun in the comic I recognized it immediately.

I can only imagine Eggman is going to take this pretty well. He is incredibly manipulative, or hell he is going to let Surge leave simply because she wants to beat Sonic. It works for him even if she doesn't win. Or Metal shows up and throws down with the green clone. Either way, anything with my favorite characters in it (Eggman and Metal) will always be a blast.

Knuckles sounds nothing like Clancy Brown (a.k.a Mr Krabs) in Sonic X. He sounds like Yami-Yugi because both are voiced by DAN GREEN. Seriously though, Sonic X is a bad show for many reasons, bad scripts & directing of good voice actors is part of it.

Man Nick I love Surge and Kit as characters how they parallel not only to sonic and Tails their Real Life Counterparts but to Dr.Starline their creator I also loved how Sonic was trying to go for Defeat means Friendship trope that he known for trying to to reach out Surge to rebel against starline if she a doenst like being told what to do and b for Kit sake at least because it worked for Kit slightly,I hope Ian Flynn has the idea to turn them into Neutral characters not really sonic friends or allies but will team up with the blue blur and the twin tail foxtrot if their goals aligned at least that what I hope till I still saw surge still gunning to take sonic out because her programming and main function is the source of her existence akin to a badnik like Metal Sonic without defeating or killing sonic and become his true replacement she never have comfort of security of her existence and i feel kit is feeling this way as well for not being able to help surge overcomes this and falls in like and cages his inner feelings and desires just to aid surge in these attempt because they are two of kind there is nobody like these two espically after starline's apparent "disappearance" in later issues just wanna say love the sonic speed reading hoping for more Turtle power reviews and also some klonoa hoping they continue the fan comic love me the whole Nightmare Klonoa character it really sells the Evil twin/Shadow Counterpart archtype well

Loved the video! I’m honestly quite glad Surge ended up being a pathetic character, who’s only “win” was against Whisper, while even then she could barely hold her own with the dynamo cage AND wisps. It was a nice change from the usual powerful enemy that Sonic must gradually build up strength to defeat. All around, glad Surge and Kit are gone for now!

Yeah. I grew up on the Archie series and loved it at the time, but looking back on it, Ken Penders and Karl Bollers got REALLY self-indulgent (that they hated each other and kept retconning each other's stuff didn't help) and Ken does love his soap opera tropes -- good fit for Archie, whose main properties are all about relationships… not so good for Sonic & Co once Sega Of Japan took back control and forced Ian Flynn to Flanderize the characters

I just downloaded and beat Sonic Triple Trouble 16 bit and what an interesting experience it was. I can say this doesn't feel like a 1:1 copy of how Sega handled platforming as some of it does feel different. The speed/motion mechanics are interesting, I found myself running into a lot of ouchies more than the other games mainly cause I don't have this memorized like 1, 2, CD, 3&K, KC32X, and 3D Blast, if I'd have to rate which experience would be the best I'd still say 3&K with Triple Trouble as a close 2nd. Though some hazard detection is a bit off and 3 millisecond input lag is only ok because it's not an first person shooter.

I don't read comics, they don't seem worth the cost when compared to video games, but hearing about them did get my mind thinking. What if Sonic ended Eggman from the start like Surge thinks he should of? From my perspective Sonic would still meet Amy & Tails but without Eggman. With no Deathegg crashing into Angel Island there's no Knuckles, and Shadow would stay in stasis... until the BlackArms show up. Taking out one of Maria's relatives probably wouldn't go well with a revenge seeking Shadow teaming up with Black Doom. And Sonic probably wouldn't know about super forms either, so their world would be doomed. Just wanted to share these thoughts.

I liked surge and kit at their introduction and all but I think they overstayed their welcome. The characters getting power up after power up felt too much like dragon ball-esque who cares about plot when you can have cool fights type of thing. Honestly, kinda glad that their arc is over for now.

Just gonna warn y'all now: As someone who is fully up to date on the comics, don't get overly attached to Surge. I was super excited for her arc expecting Ian to create a refined version of how he characterized Scourge back during his Archie days... but I instead found myself massively disappointed with pretty much everything about her except for *her last words*- not helped by the fact that Ian crippled her arc by killing Starline, aka the only character that could give her arc any actual cathartic conclusion. I hope y'all can find something to enjoy that I didn't, but Surge was a huge letdown for me. :(

I personally don't know whether I'm disappointed or not. I honestly have mixed feelings. But I feel like that was the only way to end her story. The way they were going about it, the only way Surge could go was down, and I personally couldn't see a happy ending for her or Kit. If this was the cause of Ian writing himself into a corner, or it was just the best way to go about ending the arc, idk. But I can live with the ending, and hopefully wherever Kit does next will end up less disappointing.
