I actually know who made some of the models. He's actually a good 3d artist and did the models because he was asked to by his friend. (the director) To make these. What sucks about this movie is the models look significantly better on his artstation portfolio. Which just shows how much the production of this movie sucks, the team picked a game engine to animate the characters. Ending up with super janky animation, really bad lighting, and out of place scenery, making the models look super uncanny and out of place. IDK what people should take from this comment but personally this movie is a good example of how even with good character models your movie can still suck ass for other reasons. (Like bad animation, scenery, writing, and lighting.) Also I just realized that another oddity from this movie is because of how disconnected the models are to everything else. It oddly makes the movie look like that the characters were green-screened.

I think...I think I know what happened here. I have a feeling that they bought motion capture equipment and both didn't know how to use it and also expected it to do all the animating automatically. Motion capture not tracking properly could be the source of seemingly random jittering and spasming, the desync of objects they are meant to be interacting with and other environmental assets caused when it comes time to make a movie out of the data and no one knows how to fix or connect anything so it all just gets stitched together with gum with a shrug.

The way they composited this makes me think the forest environment was rendered in some game engine and the characters were actually rendered with Maya. That much forest would actually take a lot of processing power with frame by frame computer animation, so with the $500 they had to make this movie there was no budget for a real render farm. Of course, the camera work does not line up, and there is no way any compositor would be able to make something good with two renders that never match up for an entire film like that.
