When packing the '58 pattern bag, start by facing the bag from the foot end, gather into the centre and roll up the bag closely and you will find that it fits into the hood quite easily. A liner and bivvi bag are also available, I have all 3 plus a poncho. As for the "jungle" bag, it is designed to fit into the winter bag and should also come with a liner. The bag liners are designed to keep the inners of the bags cleaned.

I've just bought one of those light weight jungle bags for the summer months n of course I have the arctic sleeping bag for winter. I've never heard of the pattern 58, I'll need to research about it.

I have some quite posh bags (Rab Ascent 1100 etc...) but for old times sake I've just bought an old 58 Pattern bag which I intend to 'restore' by washing with Nikwax Down Wash, re-waterproofing the base and cover, and perhaps have even more fresh down injected into it (which apparently can be done these days!)

The pockets on your cold weather bag are designed to be on the inside. They’re designed for drying your wet socks during the night. And on the slightly older pattern ones the zip goes almost to the bottom of the bag. You have the newer pattern one there. ATB, Allan

@@lector3332 if I tried to air my 58 indoors my missus would kill me . It's retired now as I use the arctic and jungle 😁

@@ohforfxcksake I reckon there the best 2 anyway unless you can get the xl version of the 58 as at 6 foot 2 the smaller one is a bit of a nightmate for leg room. I am lucky as my wife let's me use the spare room as it's full of all my camping gear. tents, kayak gear , diffrent mess kits .

Can you add any of the other bags inside the British army Arctic bag
@lector33324 жыл бұрын

Just a liner
@mattcameron93492 жыл бұрын
For the 58 pattern bag where are two liner options: A lightweight poly-liner or a heavyweight 'K.F Wool' liner. Both just tie-into existing internal loops. Worth noting that these liners only ever came in LONG (I believe?) so if you have a NORMAL length, there will be a slightly poor fit. They also tend to get a bit twisty inside. If you've got the spare cash I can recommend the Snugpak Fleece liner or.... if you've REALLY got the spare cash, a Buffalo S4 inner liner. It makes a HUGE difference, is machine-washable, and has a central zip which lines up nicely with the 58 pattern bag (most these days have zips at the side)
