False 9 is directly related to creating space and attracting defenders away. Works with wingers (Messi) Cam is an attacking midfielder that’s the main playmaker, can really attack from anywhere. Works with wingers, two strikers and. 1 striker (kdb, Ozil) Second striker (SS) is a supporting striker to the main striker, but doesn’t play with the wingers (modern wingers) (Rooney) but also has the capability to play striker by themselves.

You should've also made mention of the quasi 10's; The Messi's, Neymar's and Ronaldinho's.

Cruyff has to be the most influential player of all time, revolutionizing his position, setting the foundations for Barcelona and total football, mentoring pep Guardiola. He basically made football what it is today.

Number 10 is a free player who can do what he wants in the offensive midfield. That freedom is not wanted in football anymore, so coaches try to give them a second role. For example Winger-10 how David Silva or how messi did a forward-10 or how modric or Hakan Calhanoglu did a more deeper position, to also take the defensiv part. Not only the number 10, all roles have a second role in todays football.

The 10 will come back. As strikers go more toward the Haaland type, wingers will become wide creators again. With there being more space centrally, the 10 will come back. It'll take a young superstar to come through and a coach to platform it, but it'll happen. Should've been Neymar comfortably but he was just born in the wrong era. Which gives me a line of thinking...Neymar is the perfect example of everything that could go wrong for a footballer😭😭.
@mandafrombk
@mandafrombk Ай бұрын
@@LBJ-s9n who’s the young superstar you think will spark the change? Musiala maybe? Or Palmer, he’s struggled in the attacking midfield so far in big games when he doesn’t have as much space, if the hole gets less congested he could feast. I think Nwaneri is a possibility too, especially cuz he’s already incredible in tight spaces

From my understanding Messi's always been a number 10 who playes off the right. He started off as a number 10 before barca and in the barca youth teams (where he was moved to LW since the 3 4 3 had no attacking mid) he was known for dribbling into the middle which he carried on doing once he started in the senior team. Even pes 2009 lists his position in the 433 as a second striker (false 9) playing off the right

I'd just like to say Ozil was one of Arsenal players that "covered the most ground". It's not true that he was lazy or didn't move around alot.
@mandafrombk
@mandafrombk Ай бұрын
@@JerrenBrewster he did cover a lot of ground but not the same way Odegaard does (pressing and tracking back). Most of Ozil’s came from always moving to find space, which he was very good at. There were stretches where he showed a lot of effort out of possession and even covered ground defensively and some of dat definitely went under the radar but there’d also be longer stretches where he gave the “lazy” critics ammo and didn’t do much
@liampaton7820
@liampaton7820 Ай бұрын
As an Arsenal fan for many years, Ozil was technically brilliant. Did he move to get himself into space? Yes. Did he work back to support the team? Less so. Did he do as much work off the ball as Odegaard does? Not a chance. I wouldn’t go as far to say he was lazy, but he certainly didn’t do as much as he could have done. Not that it’s his fault, Wenger gave him that luxury and that was the dominant role for a 10 at the time.

Now that the top tier wingers like Ronaldo,Messi,Neymar,and Salah are starting to reach retirement hopefully we see the 10 role come back into prominence. Players like Jude and Musiala already bring a lot to the role but I feel like this is just the beginning
@chillen9109

A 10 stays the whole game in between the opponents midfield and defence but a false 9 will stay within the opponents defender and then run into spaces (on the wings or the CAM position) and creates spaces for the striker/wingers

There’s a lot of attacking midfielders, but they have to play other positions like central midfield, right winger or left winger. Only countries like Spain allow for attacking midfielders

What Spain did in the Euros is the new trend, which has that creative spark from years back. What Guardiola has done is fading now and is showing its cracks in man city. If you think there's something to that it might be good topic for a vid 😉
