The Turkish Get-Up is a movement which uses the whole body to lift up a weight overhead from the ground up. It teaches focus, coordination and skill. Using mobility, stability and strength to "get-up", one will develop stronger shoulders and mid-section muscles, as well the ability to connect to whole body as one piece.

Spent my entire usual TGU session with a light weight rolling onto the elbow and straightening the arm forming a mind/muscle connection with the triceps. Great tip! It completely smoked a whole bunch of muscles I hadn't been properly recruiting.

Beautiful! This will be my go-to training video henceforth!😊 Update- my get-ups are improving, I’ve gone from almost falling over or hitting my head with the KB 50% of the time with a 10 pound KB, to merely looking foolish with an 8 kg KB.😅

It may be bad form on my part but I leave my rear foot pointing to the rear on the way up. The top of the foot flat on the ground. It leaves the rear foot only supporting you for balance and the front leg doing most of the work when standing. Always felt natural.

Finally! A detailed description of this chain of movements. Thank you. Quick question: (if you even read these) I noticed in your initial starting position that the arm is not at a 90-degree angle but slightly tilted toward your feet. The weight is centered over your shoulder joint though. Is this on purpose?
@ReneJethmal
@ReneJethmal 3 жыл бұрын
Hopefully, you've gotten an answer somehow but just in case here is my take. It's largely body mechanics. You must pack your shoulder and engage the lat for strength and safety, doing so will naturally result in some rotation which makes the angle not quite 90.
@keithahlstrom176
@keithahlstrom176 3 жыл бұрын
@@ReneJethmal nice! I honestly don’t know where people on KZbin find the time to answer any questions, let alone one from the distant past. Thanks for the info.

Louka, great video again, thanks. In this video you windshield the back leg on the up and down. In other videos you shift the front leg. Is this just a matter of preference or are there technique differences to be aware of?
@HardstyleKettlebellPro
@HardstyleKettlebellPro 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, it's a matter of preference. The back leg shift torques the knee, which is why I don't use it anymore

The key for me, is to go from the PRONE position to resting on the ELBOW, torso off the floor. How do you do that - SLOWLY?
@HardstyleKettlebellPro
@HardstyleKettlebellPro 5 жыл бұрын
By driving your heel into the floor, contracting your abs hard and driving your opposite elbow into the ground to engage the lats.
