Dude you got something wrong, the rule of two DIDN’T exist during the time of the Sith Empire, it was created by Darth Bane some 2000+ years later during the era of the New Sith Wars (when the Brotherhood of Darkness ruled), also many Sith Lords tend to have multiple apprentices during the time of the Sith Empire (if you play swtor as either a Sith Warrior or Sith Inquisitor, you learn that both of your masters have other apprentices) granted competition between apprentices WAS encouraged but it DIDN’T necessarily needed to happen.

If the people in Sith Empire think a little deepr and harder, they will found an actual good reason to keep both Republic and the Jedi around. @darthkillhoon3 жыл бұрын
The rule of two never exited by that point. It was encouraged to only have 1 apprentice but often you saw multiple apprentices because of reasons. Say the Sith Lord is a scholar and he needs capable Sith as his researchers and when he becomes a Darth, his Apprentices become Lords and they start training their own apprentices themselves. There will be deaths along the way but overall you saw the ranks of the Sith exponentially grow. Also it's not about sharing power with the Totalitarian State. The Average Imperial Citizen was very Nationalistic. They took pride in their Civilization and Empire. The lives of Imperial Citizens versus subjects is starkly different. The Citizens enjoyed their freedoms like citizens of any nation and shared a spiritual connection with the Sith Lords, as they were manifestations of the Empires divine status, legitimizing their mandate to rule the Galaxy. I do simp for the Sith a bit, but that's what I always saw from interactions within the Game and reading the lore. The people didn't have a materialistic outlook on their Empire, it was very spiritual. The Republic was the Materialistic counter having to justify their right to rule through pandering ideals instead of a divine right like the Sith. This is why even if I didn't have force powers I would serve in the Sith Army for my Empire and be proud of it. That's why I joined the US Army in my own life. Just throw my thoughts out there

The one thing that makes the sith empire act impulsively and aggressive towards each other is due to the dark side itself. The empire actually did become weak in swtor after the battle of correlia which is the end of the class stories for the game. The sith were more concerned with fighting each other in power plays than fighting the republic and so they were badly defeated at correlia and lost lots of territory afterwards. They were kinda in a free fall for a while until they got their stuff together again
@ether227511 ай бұрын
Yes, generally that is the purpose of the story. It shows us that Sith when united are near unstoppable but infighting is their biggest negative. They thought they had the Republic beat and started fighting amongst themselves. They underestimated their true enemies so much that a small Jedi strike team was able to infiltrate their homeworld and take down their Emperor (regardless of him not actually dying). That and the Corellia situation was what lead the Sith to band together again and strengthen their front lines once more but by that point the republic had already brought them down to a level where they could now lose the war. Although, we do see time and time again, that under capable leadership the sith are always a few steps ahead. During the events of the war with the Eternal Empire it was the Sith Empire that helped the Alliance get a victory on Voss, showing again how they can always bounce back whenever they actually put their mind to it.

"Canon" is complete bullshit. Legends for the win!
@tweso14993 жыл бұрын
Thing is we have the benefit of having the Expanded Universe for almost 40 years. So far we have reached year 7 of the latest Canon. That said, they have loads of material from Legends that could be incorporated into Canon, as well as bringing in original content (such as the Mandalorian and the new Disney+ shows and movies for instance). Am I saying that Canon is awesome in comparison? Not exactly. So far IMHO Darth Vader being one of the better examples of Canon making a character like Vader remain and improve his standing as a badass. The Sequel Trilogy not being properly planned, character development regulated to the few “most important” characters, and other factors have made what could’ve been a promising prospect into at best a mixed bag reception that still divided the fan base so much that even fans will go out of their way to becoming (UNNECESSARY) “gatekeepers” over what’s “true” Star Wars and what isn’t. Is that right? Hardly. Question is, what if within the next 30 years or so that Star Wars gets rebooted and created an entirely NEW Star Wars continuity that’s not even remotely close to either Canon nor Legends? Look at DC and Marvel. They’ve rebooted continuities via alternate universes, reset buttons, retcons. Hell even Star Trek had that happened to it. Now THAT is a frightening prospect
@StoicSurvivor993 жыл бұрын
@@tweso1499 its because the fans or the public do not tolerate mediocre dog shit. You need to understand the mind of the fans, regardless how crazy they can be. The SW universe had become a cultural touchstone which laid a foundation of how we make movies. It has the potential to push boundaries and to explore innovative ideas which can lead to better quality stories. Knowing how elevated the property was, it has sparked the passion of millions around the nation (well maybe). The problem with lucasfilm like Kathleen Kennedy is that she doesn't understand how to create nor is she capable of being creative because she has lived in the shadows of George Lucas for years due to her impotence and as a result she has become resentful. Then when she took over, not having a god damn plan of what she was doing, she destroyed the foundation of what George has created out of contempt. Replacing them with badly written nostalgia driven fanfictions. No substance nor quality ever, not to mention Social justice virtue signaling that is so annoying and in very bad taste resulted in disrespecting the best of star wars and the legacy of George Lucas.

To me the Sith empire of old republic era was more confident and honest with its identity. Unlike palpatines galactic empire which operated and sought legitimacy within the cultural strata of the core worlds the sith empire had a culture and social structure of its own the sith were not just a creed but a people. Bit of interesting trivia from swtor *spoilers* darth Revan returns and builds a robotic army programmed to kill any one with sith DNA this puts at risk 98% of the population of the empire despite it being majority human there is still traces of DNA from the original sith species.

I haven't played swtor, and the only thing I know from the Sith Empire is from the wookieepedia, but from what I get, the Galactic Empire had more control over the galaxy than the Sith Empire right? I mean, the Galactic Empire was probably more stable. For example, Malgus rebelled against the Sith Empire because he thought they had become soft and he didn't agree with the peace treaty between the Republic and the Sith Empire. So I imagine that sort of things would cause a lot of instability
@manofmercy15003 жыл бұрын
Exactly. While the Sith Empire was arguably stronger, they still had to full on fight the Republic itself (or any other 3rd party like the Hutt Cartel, Revanites, Zakuul, etc in the meantime) which was a slow march towards taking the galaxy till the power plays within the Empire went out of control & crippled their push to the point where the Republic eventually went on the offensive. Whereas Palpatine simply used the Republic’s own political landscape against it, convincing the Senate he was the best option as Chancellor, slowly coaxed the Galaxy into giving him more & more military/emergency power throughout the Clone Wars till eventually he had more than enough to secure a transition into the Galactic Empire along with ending the War & framing the Jedi as traitors. So yeah, the Sith Empire tried to use their might & strength to take over the galaxy & faced a lot of opposition (both without & within) as a result, while Palpatine used deception & long term planning to take over the Republic from within & simply inherited much of its power when he turned it into the Galactic Empire, while most of the Galaxy saw him (at first) as their saviour from the fires of the Clone War (which he secretly orchestrated).

After witnessing their stupid fanfictions under Kathleen Kennedy, this is canon to me. Because the EU has far more quality and is more expansive then their smaller confined version of the lore. All of the success they would've made with these stories just thrown away. Throwing away profound stories for mediocre ones. So no, i will prefer this to be canon!!! Kathleen kennedy had her chance and she screwed it up.

Did the true sith empire follow a form of Rule of Two? I was under the impression that it had been codified by Darth Revan.

They did NOT this guy just got the lore wrong.

The galactic Republic defeats the sith time and time again so I disagree it would have easily controlled the entire galaxy. In swtor they've yet to control the entire galaxy and if the game had a "canon" version the republic would win

Nah, the sith empire isn't the strongest empire out there. I personally think that the mandalorians (under Mandalore the ultimate) are stronger than the sith empire you mean. The're 2 reasons for this 1: These Mandalorians came the closest anyone ever got to defeat the Republic, they only lost because of Revan. And 2: The sith are powerfull and capable warriors, but to quote the (Legends) book of sith, "even the greatest sith can be defeated by thousands of enemies" and it's a universial fact, that there will always be more non force-sensitives that force sensitives. Both have warrior cultures, so you know who would win.

@Darth Sidious: I meant the xth sith empire, not the galactic empire :).

Dude the Sith Empire were the ones that caused the mandalorian wars, basically they played the mandalorians for fools, they can beat the easily if it ever came to that.
