Great video, the tips do work. I have used them for years. People wonder why I have 3 boxes of suspending jerks. I have them set for the different ways of suspending. Looking forward to your video on the rods and reels.

In fact this summer I caught 70 walleye and northern pike in 8 hours trolling an iBobber robotic jerkbait. The fast steady trolling speed combined with secondary action of the flash and vibration drove the fish crazy.

I have some lead wire from a old machine shop that I use to tweak the bait . It’s easy and fast for changing conditions just rap it around the hook shank. Nose up or nose down. 😎❤️🎣👍

Great instructions video. Funny enough, I have been playing with fishing jerkbaits a bit differently and I found that a moderate to fast retrieve or even trolling a jerkbait with occasional twitches helps me catch more bass (almost 2 to 1 over the standard jerk cadence approach). This afternoon I tried jerking and then reeling in with a medium-fast retrieve with a few twitches and caught three bass. I moved around and trolled the jerk bait and caught two more bass. Stopped and jerked the bait but nothing hit until I trolled again 😉

Mike, this is invaluable stuff! Question: As a general rule of thumb, will baits that sink slowly, sink faster as the water gets colder? Or, will they become more buoyant and suspend or even float up slowly? I just tested 5 jerk baits in my sink. I could only get the water down to 53 degrees. Two of the 5 sank nose down with the Rapala HJ8 sinking like a rock and an unaltered Megabass 110 Jr. sinking slowly. The other 3 (2 Megabass 110 Jr. and one Megabass 110 Silent) floated upward slowly. None of the 3 floated upwards slowly nose up. Thanks for the tips!

I catch more bass on a jerk bait using a small jerk bait on spinning equipment.I can in part the action better. How about a class on these?

I have a question: I'm only 5'6" and find the 7ft. spinning rod quite long for fishing jerkbaits. I'm generally fishing from land or by canoe, so am wondering if a 6''6"' or 6' rod would be best? Thank you for the tips. I've never fished with a spinning rig before, but want to get a decent one to fish jerkbaits and to use on days when bites are scarce.

Im very confused on the nose up or down. Pre front it always warms up, post front it's always cold. Post front means things are looking down to me because it's so dang cold. So do you go by the temperature or the cloud cover?
