I know Garden of Sinner's animation is A tier by today's standards but remember this was started in 2007 ,16 years ago. We didn't have many anime shows with that level and style of animation until around 2012-2013. So I still consider S tier for the effort.

Fate Zero is my favorite anime that I'll only watch once. I really really like it, maybe even love it. That being said: it's also WAY dark and has some uncomfortably messed up stuff in it. God eater is anime McDonald's. Its fun, unhealthy and leaves you feeling empty in 2 hours after finishing it. It's alright

Fate/Zero is honestly amazing, idc what anyone says. Yes, it butchers Saber's character, but that doesn't mean her iteration in Zero is any lesser for it. There, she's portrayed as frail and weak in her ideologies, so much so that Iskandar was able to shake her to her core. Now, that's completely a downgrade compared to her stronger version in Fate/Stay Night (Ideal-wise), but her tragic fall in Zero was written brilliantly, by a very brilliant writer. My only real issue with the banquet of King's scene is that it feels like the purpose of that scene wasn't really to have an ideological battle between Kings, but to have Iskandar dunk on Saber and have her be more unsure of herself because the story was pushing her to a more tragic end. And another is that after experiencing Fate/Strange Fake and Babylonia, Gilgamesh to me is a very interesting character with a very interesting outlook on what a king should represent. He can also present some interesting parallel's between Saber and Iskandar. Gilgamesh, just like Iskandar is a massive self-centered prick who genuinely believes the world belongs to him, but at the same time, the isolation he felt was just one step away from being just like Arturia's. He, just like Arturia, never really had anyone understand, besides Enkidu. I feel like the Banquet of Kings could've been handled much better than what actually happened. Though it definitely did a good job doing what it set out to do.

Kara no Kyoukai is the best thing ufotable has ever animated. Sure the animation isn't as clean as their current stuff a decade and a half later, but the production value is still great and it is one of the few things that legitimately gets better on rewatches due to the show's attention to detail.

Honestly as a standalone, UBW is far superior to HF. You can't understand half of what happens in HF if you haven't read the VN. The difference in production quality is just the result of the year gap and movie vs TV show budget

i will say, what always bothered me the most about the ufotable Fate animes, besides the obvious stuff, was the music, sure it's good but most of it sounds very similar to each other and very different from what the visual novel had, i guess that's why i prefer the Deen anime as it actually gets across the overall atmosphere and feel of the vn better and most of it is just so much more memorable, hell Saber's theme from that anime is still one of my favorite tracks the franchise has to offer speaking of Deen, you gonna do a vid for them too?

You're not wrong. Ufotable is a terrible studio, they can't into music, they can't into atmosphere, they can't into proper character designs. They're terrible at adaptations. What they're good at however is making pretty colors so the audience member claps and soils himself in excitement when the awesome fight scenes happen, who cares about narrative when you have that?

I would like to add to this conversation, but from the Ufotable catalogue I have only seen demon slayer which I think is.... ok. Idk man, everyone says it delivers on it's big hype moments like no other show and that's why the story and characters being weak doesn't matter that much... but to me that's redline. not demon slayer. redline is a simple story that fully delivers for what it needs to be to get you hyped and enjoy the eye orgasmic visuals. demon slayer is not trying to be redline. at least it's not nearly as good at being redline.

I’m inclined to say the original VN. Fate/Zero fans are biased because they feel like they have to prove that they are justified in being anime only, so go into the VN with bad faith, whereas general Fate VN fans like both the VN and Zero, but prefer the VN. Like go to anime nerd boards, and they’ll tell you that the VN sucks because it’s an H-Game, and they bend over backwards calling it a waste of time. I feel that they are generally just pissed off that people recommend them to read the Visual Novel because it’s better.

Urobuchi's command of character is miles above Nasu's. Nasu has interesting concepts, but suck ass at execution - or it might be just the fan-tl's fault. Regardless, as far as which of the two works is better written, Urobuchi has Nasu beat without much effort.

@@augustussmythe8379 I have to disagree I’d say Gen Urobuchi’s is a phenomenal writer(like I’m loving Madoka Magica right now) but Nasu is more nuanced instead of directly talking about its deep concepts. There are many moments in Fate Stay Night that remain in my memory because of how effective they were because of the foreshadowing and slow character build up and developments I’d say both authors are about equal, with different strengths Urobuchi is great at making larger than life characters whereas Nasu excels at creating more intimate characters

I would watch Fate, but unfortunately, the VN is not officially available, and I don't feel like going through downloading the patch, because I don't care enough to get it unofficially. And I'm not going to watch a subpar adaptation in order to get into it, because there's too much anime to watch, and I don't want to waste it on that. Great list btw. And Prisma Illya is PreCure but worse. Watch PreCure instead, and don't waste your time on a bad rip off. Good installments are HeartCatch PreCure and Go! Princess PreCure.

And you know how poor animation is in early Dragon Ball Super and pre-Wano One Piece. Yeah that’s because all of their staff went to PreCure.
