George Karl wrote in his book about how Melo needed his father’s guidance (paraphrasing here). The problem with that is that Melo’s pops died when he was barely 3 years old. Habitual line stepper is an understatement. Maybe even a compliment!

Huge ego thing, but I'm also gonna give the benefit of the doubt that George had also been horrible to him for a long time and that just set him off. I was a Nugget fan at the time and from 2005 to 2006, Kenyon had micro-fracture surgery on both knees. his body was failing him and he was in a very bad mental space at the time. not too many coaches want to deal with that when trying to win playoff games. to make matters worse, the Clippers defensive strategy was to collapse on Melo and make the Nuggets beat them from the outside, which made K-Mart a liability. so it was a perfect storm.

George Karl players didn’t like him for all you people talking about Kenyon was unprofessional or what ever … listen there were tough coaches like Riley and popovich that had situations with players however players respected those coaches… because Riley and pop don’t disrespect the players and treat them like shit…. Karl did he had no respect…

This is why sports media is slowly dying and player controlled media is growing because players aren’t ever going to feel this comfortable talking them.

This just goes to show you how much power these players have. Guaranteed contracts do the trick here. No way you could EVER talk like this to coach in Europe. Your ass would be gone next day and contract voided.

I've listened to GK enough to know he is a bonified basketball genius... it's so obvious that he was a horrible man manager. Dude won like 1100 games and nobody like playing for him... So crazy. Watched practically every second him coaching the nuggets... no excuse they didn't at least go to the finals once. But GK wanted to be the reason his teams won, never works out that way.
