Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

Just to add, please don't wear perfume or any essential oil on the plane. There is a big amount of people allergic to scents. Makes it a really bad trip to have to deal with allergies while traveling.

I will 100% recline my chair if it is an overnight flight. I don't care, this is what they are for. I will keep it upright during the day though. People also clap in Spain/Portugal! I think also in Latin American countries. Not everyone, but there is always a few. I don't mind it tbh. I love this series! Very chill and very informative at the same time.

Middle seat armrests, I agree. What I don't like is when the stranger's elbows then extend well into my space, which is already very limited. So if you're going to use the middle seat armrest, please think of where the rest of your arms are, and keep them in your own space. (I waited until the person turned a page in the book, then I claimed the full space in my seat.)

Always love your videos. You're great. Just want to make one observation: I'm American/Italian and typically fly 125K miles, 200K KM a year. Americans do not clap on landing. That seems to be a Middle-Eastern tradition in my experience. Everything else is spot-on. Please just wait for your row, get your bag, and get off the plane. There are 100 people waiting for you to put on your jacket in the aisle.

Great video. I never thought about the armrests in the middle seat. I'm from Argentina and we always clap when the plane lands. I don't know in how many countries it's a thing (other South American countries too) but for sure it's not only in the USA.

Love these unwritten rules and tips! I definitely learned something new about the aisle armrest that I'm excited to try on our next flight. Thanks for that one! Regarding the middle-aged men standing up prematurely, please don't judge too harshly. I'm married to a 64 year old who, after many many years of sports and coaching in his lifetime, has joints that stiffen quickly and are very uncomfortable. Standing as soon as he can is simply a relief after sitting so uncomfortably for hours. It's not easy being middle-aged. Things don't work like they used to. We're not being rude or pushy, or blocking anyone's way, just standing.

flight attendant here! No problem standing up when the seatbelt sign is off, just don’t do it when it’s still on. It is highly dangerous as we are on an active taxiway. If we’re moving and need to break really abruptly, you might find yourself a few rows to the front. Just wait the extra few minutes and save yourself from a hospital visit 😊

Not only for others but especially for the cleaning staff: throw your garbage away! Idk why so many people don't do that when the flight attendants are passing by so many times asking for garbage. It's crazy to see what some people leave behind when leaving the plane. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ (Plus you shorten the whole process inbetween two plane rides which is nice for all the people waiting at the gate ready to enter)

Hi! Just to add to the whole "Only Americans clap when landing" 🙃 I'm French, people don't really clap when landing on the flights I have taken these last years (in and out of France) but I feel like it's becoming more and more of a thing... I guess I only saw once a whole plane clapping after a very bumpy/stormy flight because we were caught in a very bad storm and it was to cheer for the pilots but honestly, I don't really know how much they have to do with the whole thing. Is there really good and bad pilots, and if so, why would they let bad pilots fly? When you're caught in turbulences, can they really do anything to help? With so much protocoles, do they have space to be "creative"? 😅 Anyway, I love this little series of videos, I think they are super useful to a lot of people! When I first had to fly, I was a kid with my aunt who was very used to taking planes so it went smoothly and I love it now, but I know a lot of my friends never did. Now I can recommend your videos to them if need be!

I honestly forget that the seat reclines at all unless the person in front of me does it, and even then I never recline mine, so everyone should sit behind me on a flight, I guess.

I'm an American who flies a lot and I've NEVER heard people clap on a domestic American flight?! I have on some other international flights-- definitely remember my one from Paris to Moscow ending in clapping but there have been other times too (Argentina most recently). Americans don't do this tho lol

Vegetarian who flies a lot here! I do NOT recommend specifying that you're vegetarian ahead of time for inflight meals. They basically always have a veg option already, and if you say you're vegetarian, they'll give you a different meal, and it's usually so much worse than the meals provided that just happen to be vegetarian.

All good advice. One quibble: I'm American, and I have Never heard people on an American flight applaud. I've not flown internationally, but I can't think Americans would behave that differently then. (I haven't flown in ten years, so if that's something very recent, I apologize.)

Great video again! One tip i would like to add though about leaving the plane. If you do not have a connecting flight, just wait and leave the plane last. That way people who have connections have priority and leave running and you have to wait for luggage anyway.

I flew to the US. I'm tall so I reclined the seat straight away. When we got there 9 hours later the person behind me seemed to be seething, and I was informed that it's apparently incredibly rude to do that. I don't really understand. Why do the seats recline if you aren't supposed to recline them? Who makes up these unwritten rules, and why aren't they written anywhere? We're supposed to just psychically know?

Nah you have every right to recline immediately (as long as you’re bringing it back up for mealtime). The person seething clearly needs a bit of a reality check of being on a flight if that’s the reason why they were angry 😅

It's just difficult with different body shapes. I am short woman and prefer not to recline my seat as it hurts my back. I don't like it when people recline in front of me as I then have less room and feel I too need to recline to get back space. This is more of an issue on overnight buses than planes to be honest! But of course people are entitled to recline and it simply isn't possible to accommodate everyone.

Never heard of people applauding on flights.. And I'm from the US and have been traveling domestically and internationally for decades. Hmm... Wondering when/where you experienced this. Perhaps it was an extraordinarily turbulent ride and people were just having a "thank God" we landed safely moment???😂 Ps.. I don't know if we're the culprits, but people from Québec do tend to clap after a flight (at least some of them do😅) I might come from a famous pilot of ours who succeeded a particularly impressive emergency landing in the early 2000s, everyone talked about it and it might have made people feel more grateful of their pilot... 🤷🏼‍♀️Flight 236 Air Transat for anyone curious

been american my whole life - clapping is not, in my experience, an "american thing". fly constantly domestically and internationally and don't think i've ever heard this on a domestic flight. I have occasionally heard clapping when landing in latin america.

Some planes have the fancier seats in the front of the plane where you would need to go left from the entrance instead of right, but of course, most of us will never need to pay any attention to that. 😢😅

I remember traveling with my parents when I was a teenager--in the airport, my father would do all kinds of stretches I found really embarrassing, so I'd run off, and sometimes he'd kindly wait in discomfort until I'd disappeared. Well, turns out he had a spinal tumor. To this day I feel really bad about that. So you never know what people are experiencing....
