4 souls lying there, unknown and long forgotten. You discovered them. You make their names and final resting place come alive. I doubt there are more if they were one of the first pioneers down in Georgia.
@P.B.Theriver3 жыл бұрын
According to findagrave the cemetery is called the Gates Cemetery. B.H. was the first husband of Patience and Nancy was her mother.
@donnal.oglesby48063 жыл бұрын
thank you for the info. So sad to see these small burial grounds just left unattended, and not cared for. Ever Person needs to be respected and their final resting place respected as well. Glad that Robert Wright and Robert O' Neal are out to film and document as much as they can to try and if not save them, at least document what is left of burial places, so people like Myself, whom has been researching my family genealogy for the past 27 yrs and other like me can still have that documentation.

I love the banter between the 2 Roberts. Robert Sr. Wanted his dinner first, but as soon as he was out there, he was all business.😊 I've never seen an upside down headstone that big before! Thanks to you three for your kindness to the departed.😊🐝❤

This is especially sad, Robert. When you mentioned the settlement year and the many small communities that didn't last, there's no hope of finding kin to tend these abandoned cemeteries.

At the 8:29 point, look at the base of the tree between the two grave stones. It looks like the tree is actually growing around a gravestone. And you have a gift in locating these little forgotten cemeteries.

Robert, one of my favorite things is reading old gravestones, as well as looking at old homes and thinking what their lives were like. I never could find anyone to go with me. I hope Cody realizes what a special thing he is experiencing! Wish I was a member of your family to tag along!

This is incredible.. I used to live on Long Island with a house in upstate NY and whenever I would go there over the years I would look for old cemeteries and abandoned houses because the history is so fascinating to me. I moved to south Florida a few years ago and there isn’t much of that around here so your videos make me so happy.

Random graves in a thicket, in the middle of nowhere, just blows my mind. This can't be exclusive to Georgia. The small cemeteries that I now notice, thanks to you, are well tended, at least. Thank you for stopping and saying their names.

I have seen all of your videos, but, for some reason this one gave me an emptiness inside. I thought of all the people that have gone and are forgotten. Then, I thought of all the people we pass and meet every day in stores and such that we pay no attention to and in years to come they and we will be laid to rest. And, again, why don't we get their stories why they are still with us. Part of my emptiness I believe was for those who do not knot The LORD and have passed and lost their chance.

Would love to also have a tour around that old train depot. If it is the one shown at the start of the video, it looks in remarkably good condition. The land all around there will hold many stories and it would be fascinating to find out more. The etching on the old graves has survived so well.

Hey Robert, I found this site on KZbin about cleaning veterans monuments/stones. It was amazing when he was done. It was D-2 biological solution. He said they use it at Arlington and it doesn’t hurt the stones. Order it from D-2 website.
@ChrispyMulder3 жыл бұрын
It was Honor your DNA. He tells you how to use it. And walks you through it. Don’t know price but thought it might interest you like when you went to find the doctors stone with the other Robert. Watch it and see if it encourages you.

1950 census shows a 28 year old Patience E. Cox married to a Andrew Cox (Aged 48). And two small children named Thena Gates, aged 6 and a Patience E Gates aged 4. In the same household is a John Johnson aged 50. Both John and Andrew were born in North Carolina and Patience and both children were born in Georgia. On another source it shows Andrew as a second husband. In the census it also shows in another home Benjamin Gates.

Mr. Robert back in the 1700-1800s’ one finger up wards meant she’s going to Heaven! Modern men are mocking this sign saying it’s ( deceased person is giving men the finger) Ridiculous! Just searched this symbols as in the 1700s it just mean she’s/he’s going to heaven! Just though to mention to you! Love your videos!
