Damon as always is the one who "saves" the situation, I reiterated several times that Damon Salvatore is the one who is not afraid to get his hands dirty to help those he loves, who prefers to be hated rather than watching someone give up and not fight for the own life. He did it with Stefan, Elena and now with Bonnie. It is an uncomfortable role, his which however confirms how much his character is one of the most multifaceted and complex of the whole series. Damon is not afraid of being hated, of making uncomfortable choices, of sacrificing a relationship to protect those he loves. He doesn't like being a lousy person as he is told he chooses to do what others are unable to do, this is his sacrifice for the one he loves dirtying his reputation for others especially for his brother.

I love that Damon did what he had to do in order to get his friend to wake up. Although Bonnie said in this episode that she knows he meant what he said on the porch bc she could feel it, I’m glad he succeeded. Also her moment with Enzo 🥺

I really now realized we have about two weeks of TVD Jer's reactions... that's -___- I'm gonna be so sad when you end it. The Bamon scenes were freaking PRECIOUS this episode. My reactions were the exactly same as yours both to Steroline and to Bamon! Yeah, Caroline def does not romantically love Ric. Damon asking for forgiveness and doing so much to help Bonnie survive this brings tears because he's grown so much and despite knowing that it would wake Elena up, he still wants Bonnie to live. That's such GROWTH and great character writing. Bonnie deserves so much more and I'm happy this season's focus is on her storyline - at least these last several episodes. It finally feels like she's the main character, too. ♥

This is one of my favorite episodes of the season. The Bamon moments this episode are incredible! First, Damon being the only one to be able to wake Bonnie up was great. He knew just the right things to say to make her mad enough to want to fight and wake up. He always does what needs to be done. Then, that scene of them in the woods was so good and powerful. It actually had me tearing up. The way that he said he would forgive her and he understood if she had to kill him, but that he needed her to forgive him 😭 Also, him saying that he loves her and admires her 😍 He actually did get her to feel her emotions and to stop and hesitate there for a moment. Their relationship is so beautiful! The Steroline moments were also great this episode. I’m glad Stefan finally explained to her why he left and she finally understood what he went through for her. She definitely doesn’t love Rick romantically. She of course loves him as family, but she only agreed to marry him because Stefan left and she saw it as making sense with raising the kids.

The beginning of this episode kind of reminds me of the end of the episode when Damon comes out of the hell stone, and just goes crazy and attacks everyone. Only thank god this one wasn’t real, cause Bonnie doesn’t just injure everyone, she straight up murders everyone. When I first watched the episode I had the same reaction 😂

I believe that Damon is responsible for his own change and I think multiple people contributed to his development but I’ll always say Elena was his biggest influence. Seeing her influence on him and then how all his friendships have impacted him is so special. One of the best parts of the show for me is seeing Damon’s development. I love that he fell in love and started showing his emotions, she believed he had good in him even when he himself thought otherwise. I also love that from her helping him open up his heart to others, he formed friendships and showed how he cared for those people in his life by being selfless even when it made him miserable. Elena showing him compassion since s1, being a friend to him and then a partner, him slowly letting how much he cares be shown and letting down some of his walls bc someone was seeing past his ‘I don’t care’ attitude. Elenas hugs to him when he needed someone to comfort him, like after Katherine wasn’t in the tomb and also when he loses Rose. Him admitting he has some humanity and misses being a human then his friendship with Rose, with Alaric, with Bonnie, what we find out about his past with Enzo, and his bond with his brother. Him wanting to protect his brother and doing anything for him, writing a eulogy for Liz, standing up for Caroline when her mom first found out she was a vampire, caring about Bonnie, and caring about Jeremy are all small or big instances that contributed to him changing. I love seeing his character in each season and how he comes up for solutions to help his friends, like in this episode :)

hearing damon tell bonnie he loves her & asking for forgiveness is EVERYTHING 🥺 in that moment .. i loved him the REAL development was when i decided to love him . i don’t accept what he did in earlier seasons & i don’t think i’ll ever accept it . earlier seasons i strongly dislike him & i think i still do but this damon right here is the damon i’ve always wanted . he reminds me of stefan & i love that because he has the heart that stefan has now when at first he didn’t .. and i love stefan so i can’t help but love damon here . i love him without elena .. he constantly has to force change when with her & she constantly has to walk on eggshells around him because of his bitchy behavior & that’s never healthy or good but this damon … he’s got it together .. maybe not all the way because he was just literally selfish leaving his family but he’s trying & i love it bonnie was the one who really changed him . not elena daily reminder : i love stefan & he deserves the world ;)

I am very happy that Stefan is finally able to express his reasons, and above all I am glad that Caroline seems to have understood them, now that she is forced to flee so as not to put the girls in danger. I've always said that I hate how much Caroline begs for attention and love from Stefan and I love that she sometimes gets precious with Stefan like she did with Klaus, but this time no Caroline doesn't fit Stefan did the right thing to walk away from you run away you can I hated the speech he made of Elena. I think she was wrong to name and compare herself to Elena. In short, Caroline we thought that Elena Gilbert's jealousy and envy has been overcome, she is her and you are you, you have nothing to envy to her and vicervesa it was a low blow to blame Stefan for that detail of the damn bridge. Dear Caroline Have you ever wondered that just respecting her choices too much didn't work out their relationship?

Damon used Bonnie's feelings for him against her because he kept making it sound like he was choosing Elena over her, once again like when he left to sleep. His speech to her was beautiful. The desperate writing of the writers to constantly make the actors repeat "best friend " and Elena's name, is so forced. "I love you. The same way Elena loves you." That last line is so desperate to keep reminding the audience that in spite of their fiery chemistry, ignore it cause I'll never let it happen. Bonnie was his inspiration for changing himself, not Elena. She was an enabler once they started dating. My Bamon heart. 🥰😍

I believe neither Elena nor Bonnie changed Damon. Damon didn't need to be changed because he's who he is now both at the beginning of the series and now towards the end. Damon changed for katherina in the negative to be loved and at her height, Elena's role in Damon's life is not to change him but to remind him of what he really is and what he was before katherina and Elena for Damon is also a reason to which his life deserves to live it to the fullest and get out the real Damon. Bonnie, on the other hand, hasn't changed him as much but Bonnie simply represents for him dealing with himself with his being and his psyche and also represents keeping the old Damon that Elena reminded him of, so neither of them changed him them. two have given meaning to his life which are two completely different things.

And the TO couple you're worried about, I don't ship it (ofcourse) but I certainly don't dislike them, I actually like all the main characters in TO so much. That's why even though I like TVD, I still dislike it because of its central plot being Stelena/Delena which I absolutely cannot stand. But TO is all about family and hence I love it start to finish. I'm gonna finally speak out on this season and say after viewing season 5 again which I thought to be the weakest for a long time, S7 is very much the worst in my opinion. It's TVD overstaying it's welcome by doing everything and nothing at the same time. It's such a big mess that you can't find your keys(I mean characters and main storyline) does it have moments of good things YES i'm not denying that....But it's the very definition of messy, switching vilains 7 or 8 times, situation change too many times than I can count to the point of if I miss a reaction and come back 2eps later it looks like a totally different show. And maybe it's because no Elena i'm not so sure, but S8 was a step up, it's just like they were making shit up on the go every episode and there was no constant story they were telling this season...
