I doubt they'd want to include the titular Scooby as a character to detract more from the half-assed "mystery" they actually wanted to do from the beginning. Then again, the writers clearly do things purely to spite and anger their audience, so they might have included Scoob just to do something particularly horrendous to him as payback. The thing is, every time they make mention that "Velma is the top trending ORIGINAL ANIMATED (intentional emphasis) series", it can't NOT be. There was no competition. When it first came out, the last Original Animated Series to come from Max was Santa Inc. (Ugh), and that was over a year prior. This time around, there's, once again, no competition on Max. Nothing with a name behind out. The last series, that had any clout, was 'Fiona and Cake', aside from that, there were a few other series in 2023 (released after Velma, mind you) that pretty much flew under the radar, and none of which are even slated for renewal. So, considering the IP, even being a horrible show, people will watch. Whether it's hate watching, curiosity watching, or, for some reason, non-ironic enjoyment of the series. But I don't think it's actually as many as the "Top Original Animated series" announcement is portraying it as.

@ИванВасюк-ш3к4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately that's still doesn't change the numbers for the people who would see them. I think it's similar to those shitty mobile game ads that are hard to close. Nobody downloads the games from those ads, if people really wanted to play some grindy game like Hero wars they would download it from one of those thousands invite codes, yet the ads still getting clicks. Usually due to the fact that you can't close the damm think, but the companies that make those ads (which btw isn't the same one's that make games. There is a reason why they all look nearly identical) could give bosses big numbers and show the "success" of the ads.

I've always said that Velma would have had the potential to be 100 times better if they would have went full parody and had them as seperate characters that were maybe older than Mystery Inc. That way when they made fun of our pointed out their flaws it made more sense as a jealous rival Mystery solving crew being overshadowed by the "meddling kids"

But therein lies the problem: how would people know "Velma" sucks if no one watched it? The problem is not that people watch it. It's that people still talk about it so much. There are video reviews of every single episode, when frankly- one video of barely a few minutes is more than enough. That's how so much crap on social media stays relevant when they should just disappear into oblivion- people generate way too much buzz about this crap and then they wonder how this crap stays on seemingly forever. You're the ones causing it! And can we be honest here? Hate Watching has to be one of the dumbest things ever. Don't like it? DON'T WATCH IT! "Velma" sucks. That's all you need to know. Now move on from it and quit generating buzz around it so it can disappear into oblivion.

There is nothing but contempt in this show. There is no comedy, just complaining. Plus, the characters are all terrible people. It took characters we love and took away all the qualities that make them to characters that we knew.

Hate watching did not help this show at all. It had a good *first* episode launch. I don't understand what the point of pretending this thing is successful is. Even if a 3rd season is made, it still doesn’t prove the ratings picked up, because we know studios will renew shows just to save face even as they fail and fail and fail. Don't believe me? Star Trek Beyond got 5 seasons. Where's the merch?

the Velma problem is that people give it attention, like with this video for exemple or this comment boosting the video in the algorithm ironically. the best we could've done with this show is ignore it, but we didn't and that is, at least partially, responsible for it's "success"

The fact that season 2 was a part 2 to season 1 instead of a new season makes sense. The show was so bad there’s no way it would warrant a season 2, unless it was already planned. I watched it wondering if it was as bad as I remember, and yes it was. But the artists did a wonderful job, but again the writing was the worst

From what I've heard this was supposed to be the second half of season 1 but they divided it into a 2 seasons probably for them to save money in production costs if true this could probably explain the short down time between and the reason why season 2 was so quickly green lit all I know for sure is that the previously most hated character from Scooby Doo is probably everyone's favourite from this show soley because he killed Velma

The amount of rage attention this got was so goddamn tiring and disproportionate to just how just 'mid to generic bad' much of the show actually was. And honestly, considering the depressing current state of the animation industry, I can't even stay upset at any show where the artists were able to really flex themselves creatively and had nothing but positive things to say about the work environment. Can we please just uplift "Scavengers Reign" or something?
