4:22 Yeah, I never understood that take. Characters are gritty when it makes sense they're gritty, and they aren't just dirty for no reason. That made sense to me, but clothes washing is apparently immersion breaking for some hehe. They've done some really neat things with that attention to detail too - from the partially healed wound on Egwene's arm that hints at Nyn's powers in Ep 1, to showing the audience what really happened at the Farm in episode 4 - Mat's dagger was clean and the Fade's bloody.

Also a book fan. My only complaints that aren't nitpicks come from constraints caused by either the budget or the pandemic.

The showrunner also used the word “bonkers” to describe the opening of S3 😂

I love that he actually used the term "bonkers" too!

Book reader here: I was a bit dissatisfied early on with the show but as soon as they did the Manetheren song in episode 2 and I started seeing reactions from non book readers, I enjoyed it a lot more. Season 2 was a treat and I am crazy excited for season 3!

The only reason it's "polarizing" is because book readers can't handle any variation to exact "script from the books". I don't understand this mentality since I would rather see something new... otherwise I would just read.

I look at it as not the turning of the wheel we all read, but as just another turning of the wheel. Same but different.

I found S1E1 overwhelming as a book reader because of changes but I soon embraced the storytelling. I still dislike the last two episodes during COVID. In season 2 I was all in. I know Barney Harris did what he had to do but his leaving threw Mats plot into a tailspin so that’s the only part I find to be a weakness, even though I like Donal. The CGI NOW is so amazing! I never thought this story could be told in a movie and still don’t but as a series? Wow! It’s amazing.

man when tv had like 20 ep a season than took off the summer and started back in the fall my interest in shows held way more strong this 8 episodes than a year or so off until next season makes me really lose the drive i have for shows and im a huge wheel of time fan (and kinda a fan of the show but i really try and separate it from the books so i can enjoy it more but thats hard to do)
@Sashimi140820 күн бұрын
Yeah, but then those shows were not epic fantasy shows that required months on end of VFX/CGI post-production to make it look so epic. They were regular shows. Plus, as of today's standard, audiences and particularly genre fans of fantasy or sci-fi are very demanding and want their standards to be met. So, that's why we only get 8 episodes per season and another season every two years.

The show has only casually mentioned some of the prophecies regarding the Dragon Reborn. I'm sure they will elaborate on them this seaon. Let the prophecies ride on the wings of Prime - Quote from Unraveling the Pattern.

I enjoyed Season 1 overall, though I really struggled with some things that were mostly based on Covid shut downs and all the fallout, but Season 2 was fantastic. Season 3 is covering much of the fandom's favorite book and so far I am so hyped!

The decisiveness of this show hangs on the sect of book readers who do not like the show being very loud and unequivocal about how their opinion of the show is the only possible right opinion.
@l8niteowl5521 күн бұрын
Please don't read any of the books. There are plenty of channels out there that are always comparing it to the books. I watch your reactions/commentaries because this is a new experience for you(and you're smart and perceptive). If you read even just book one, that all changes. Just keep doing what you're doing, thanks!

Looks like they are skipping most of book three which is fine imo. I can see how that works with how they have structured the show compared to the books. Book 4 is probably one of the best fantasy books ever written. They have peak material to choose from for season 3. I wish they had 10 episodes. In the books Moraine is much more mysterious and not the lead. As she is one of my favorite fantasy characters in general its fun to see her POV as the lead so far. This looks good though.

From what Rafe Judkins said season 3 is primarily book 4 so you can read 1-3 without out any issue but when all is said and done the show has changed a lot from the books.
@stevecollette683121 күн бұрын
Rings of Power season two was better?!?! It was a steaming pile of crap. Even if you ignore all the terrible choices in adapting the books, the actual television production was garbage. The scale of things would change from scene to scene. Cities magically grew walls overnight because somebody forgot to put them in in earlier scenes. There would be 1000 combatants in one scene Reduced to a dozen in the next, only to have the thousand come back again. You had magical healing powers were being stabbed through the abdomen apparently is merely a flesh wound. The choices and behaviors of the characters was inconsistent. The editing and costuming was garbage. For $1 billion. It should have been better in every aspect. Beyond all that mess, the choices made in adapting the screenplay were ridiculously bad. Characters, storylines, events and timing were utterly inane. That said, wheel of time started with high production levels with the exception of the last two episodes of season one. That can clearly be understood as effects of the pandemic. The production has continued at a high level, and the storylines have improved, characters have been developed, and they’ve recovered from the deviation from the books that was forced by the change in a key actor, I’m looking forward to season three, expecting it to continue the high standard.
