I used to work theme parks and was part of the concessions crew. Theme parks are sorta similar. Rides, concessions, games (I guess joints), clean up crew, and the people who played characters and walked around interacting with people, didn’t mix and had rivalries. I started working in the video game industry and they used to call me a carny because I had also done theatre and was a cast member of Rocky Horror. All of my jobs were entertaining and exciting I suppose. I wasn’t a carny but my job experience felt carny-like to some people.

@seanducharme4136 ай бұрын
Also interesting enough pro wrestling started on the carnival market
@KayFabe876 ай бұрын
Pro wrestling has its roots in the carnival, hence the shared terms like “mark”, “plant”. The language of pro wrestling is “carny”. The typical structure is to insert “iz”in the middle of a word, so a mark would be a “mizark”. It enabled the early pro wrestlers to communicate in the ring without the marks catching on to what they were saying. It is probably on KZbin, but there was a live Saturday Night Main Event featuring Hogan and Randy Savage against Honky Tonk Man and the Hart Foundation. Savage takes a bump into Elizabeth. Hogan takes her back to the medical area backstage and is tending to her. They go to a commercial break and come back a few seconds earlier than Hogan expects, so he asks for the time cue in carny by pointing to his wrist and saying “tiz-ime” (carny for time) not realizing they were already back live.
