Huge thanks to Paul Tan and the DEVEL Project Team for giving us the opportunity to shoot and ride this bike. Such an exciting project that we wish has many successes.
Also a huge thanks to Frank and the BikeBug Team this build and this video would not have been made possible without their help.
And finally Felice at Cycling Projects for taking his time to build the frame from scratch, if you need something built and built well ... he is your man.
We hope you enjoy the video and we can't wait to answer your questions, even though we may not have the answers to all of them.
Regards,
Chris

Hey Guys, some interesting comments about the "real" origin of this frame. Obviously we'll go into more detail with the ride review VLOG, but we have had it confirmed this is a custom mould, DEVEL developed it and will only be sold by them. No update on pricing or distribution just yet.

Your Wife and your two children. ECC. Great touching touch mate. Looks like an impressive bike. I just got a set of Assiomas last week going to say completely blown away with how good they are, literally just finished testing their accuracy against my Kickr and a stages crank and they are bang on -1 Watt from the kicker (suspect drive chain loss).
@ChrisMillerCycling

That is super impressive mate. My gripe with pedal based was always the temperature fluctuation and how it effected results. All reports (not mine) so far are very promising.
@itsdeebs5156
@itsdeebs5156 4 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisMillerCycling pretty sure they got a inbuilt temperature compensation. I'm finding at the moment the only time i need to zero offset is when i swap them onto another bike (usually do a few sprints to bed them in) and that holds pretty true.
@davidtyler5129
@davidtyler5129 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, I’ve been considering the Assioma pedals and almost bought some about 2 weeks ago, but then was somewhat ‘talked out of them’ at a bike shop as they suggested power meter crankset were the only way to go. Never ever having a power meter on a bike before, the bike shops comments confused me and so I’m still to get a power meter system on the bike. A bit peeved actually because the Assiomas were new and unopened and only going to cost me $900 delivered. Open to suggestions and advice. Thanks 🤙
@itsdeebs5156
@itsdeebs5156 3 жыл бұрын
Hi@@davidtyler5129 happy to share my thoughts. I would suggest not to go with the Shimano Crank based power meters as they are structurally flawed. GP Lama (Shane Miller) has a great analysis of these ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2HXiIeLrNWnZ80 ). Quark do a fantastic spider based power meter (Dzero). I would strongly recommend them. The Assioma Duo's are as good as you are going to get on a pedal power meter and are I would argue one of the top 5 power meters on the market hands down. The only issue with the Assioma's is the cleats. I would suggest sticking with the ones provided by Assioma and order from them. Not all Look Keo cleats are the same...super annoying. I am a big fan of Speedplay pedals and i run speedplay pedals on my bikes that have Spider Based power meters (Quark Dzero's). That said when Wahoo Speedplay power meter drops...i am putting them on the bike with the Assiomas. That is so i can just run just speedplay and from an engineering perspective the Assioma's and the Wahoo Speedplays are the same from an engineering perspective (where it counts). Also being fortunate enough to know people testing them , they are very much in line with expected results. I strongly suggest thinking about your needs. If you want the best representation of YOUR effort ... measure as close to you as you can. Pedals being the closest contact point. Power being outputted into the Drive Train....Spider Based. To the Wheel hub based (though these i think are really not a great solution). Objectively Looking at power meters based off what i have used and seen. 1) Wahoo Speedplay Power Link (Not yet Released)...this is a little biased as they are basically Assioma Duos which meet my niece needs. 2) Assioma 3) Quark DZero 3) Garmin Vector I can see the Bike shops argument. Crank Based is usually a good entry point and is reasonably cost effective....that said extra couple of hundred dollars and you are in there with the best. I don't know anyone who has had a Assiomas and had issues , had inaccurate power readings and don't love them . Hope this helps. End of the day if you hate them ... you can easily on sell them and they maintain their price really well. I see them pop up for sale around 80% of the RRP and they just get snapped up.
@davidtyler5129
@davidtyler5129 3 жыл бұрын
@@itsdeebs5156 hey thanks heaps for the frankness of your reply. Yes I’ve heard the Quark system are very good, but I thought quark only matched up with Sram and I already run Ultegra Di2 11sp. Yes I am aware the speedplay power link are imminently coming. I spoke with the qld distributor last week. I currently use Ultegra pedals (but actually don’t like them) and changing to something else wouldn’t be a difficult decision for me. I have mates that already use speedplay pedals on their bikes and they really like them. I’ve never used them, but must confess to being interested and intrigued with them. Interestingly enough the bike shop I was chatting to about a power meter system have 2 x new sets of Assioma pedals in stock and no crankset systems. I do wish now that I’d bought the Assioma pedals a few weeks ago for $900 😩. I’d be getting the data I need now. Hmmmm, maybe I can just wait a few more mths for the speedplay power links and have a complete change altogether. Again, thanks heaps for your feedback. I’ve got a bit to consider now. Cheers and enjoy your cycling 🚴‍♂️ 🤙

Fellow Filipino cyclists and mountain bikers. Invest in this brand. The moment the brand becomes known worldwide, you might not be able to afford the price anymore. Devel is kind enough to offer cycling frames for 45k php and XC carbon frames for 33k php and the alloy XC frame for 13k php. They say its very expensive to buy it in Australia although less expensive than well-known brands.

too bad the company is all hype and is very deceptive, literally cancels and changes specs on both pre-ordered built bikes and frames on the fly without even giving updates on their clients If you see the owner's FB posts he always claims that it's not the company's fault, it's either their manufacturer, their retailers, or the customers' fault they literally hyped consumers by promising tapered headtube, Shimano components, Tektro/Zoom hydro brakes on a built bike for only PHP 12,000 (around $ 240), the only bikes with Shimano components were the first batch, other than that, none of their promises came true, they even changed the bike's paint design to a very generic Chinese design the first batch had mismatched/faulty shifters and flaking paint on their forks which shows how much time they spent on quality control, and of course the owner claims it's fully the manufacturer's fault the owner's excuse is that it's the consumer's fault for not reading because, from the very start, it was stated that "parts and components may change without prior notice" not knowing that people can actually see the edit history of posts on Facebook which shows that the original post never stated that they blame their retailers for accepting pre-orders, which they apparently don't condone because consumers are complaining about the specs being changed and the extremely delayed delivery time of the bike they paid for their sheep/fanboys even say that the Filipino buyers have no right to complain because the company is selling the frames in the Philippine market cheaper than the Global market the owner even bashed Trinx on a group devoted to DEVEL Project bike owners for having mechanical disc brakes (what an asshole)

I agree. Develo could be a more appropriate brand name but could sound close to Cervelo. Cheers from the Philippines🇵🇭

Why? It's short for DEVELopment. I know people with High-end Bianchi's.. Like Oltrexr4 for example, which they sold because they had a Devel frame. It's different here in the Philippines. We don't hate, we just improve and support what's local.
