If that had been the brief you might have a point - however we now know that; Snyder had already cut the movie to two hours before Whedon began his rewrites, the studio wanted the film to be lighter in tone and suitable for a younger audience, Whedon was hired specifically to add humour to the movie, there was a severely limited timeframe, Whedon wasn't allowed to extend the movie beyond the 2 hr limit, nor was he allowed more time to actually film the extra material and he had a cast arguing with every decision.

The comedic theme doesn't fit, to begin with, but it is executed embarrassingly poorly just for some extra icing on the cake I'm not a massive fan of DC or any superhero shit really but this movie is actually terrible in every possible way. Snyders cut actually had characters instead of a fucking joke slot machine. You couldn't take anyone in this movie seriously if you tried. It is a shining example of how not to make a movie.
