As a trans man, there's one thing I'd like to address about Jerry's show. When I was 11-12, I was just starting to explore the internet and KZbin. After teaching myself some basic English (I'm French-Canadian), I ventured a bit further into videos that weren't clips from the Big Time Rush band's tv show. I found that one episode of Jerry Springer where they guess "who's the man". That video f*cking ruined me. If you don't know what I'm talking about, well Jerry had about two dozen people come up on stage all dolled up in gowns and told his audience that some of them were actually men. The people on stage obviously all appeared to be stunning women, so people were shocked. The audience wasted no time and tore apart every one of them, using awful stereotypes as arguments. Some "imposters" were drag queens, but I know some of them are trans women. Jerry organised this, used harmful language, humiliated many members of the LGBTQ+ community on his show and contributed to the perpetuation of hate and violence toward trans and queer folks. He's a piece of sh*t. And the fact that he can't understand why he needs to apologise makes everything worse.

That "gene pool" thing is a dog whistle that I think Jerry is smart enough to know is a dog whistle. Eugenics didn't just consider other races subhuman, much of it was based around the theory that poor people stay poor because they're of lesser intelligence. This would go on to become social Darwinism, the thought that if you can't survive in the capitalist hellscape, then you're not genetically fit to do so. His show and stuff like it perpetuate negative ideas about the lower classes pretty much as propaganda.

So the spinning plates thing, from what I understand and remember, was actually an allusion to the show being a circus. Jerry did things to get his crowd riled up and create the kind of volatile atmosphere they wanted, which included rediculous and distracting circus acts, the whole stripper pole thing, light shows, and other bizarre things. The idea was to make the whole thing seem so unreal that the drama on stage would feel visceral in comparison. This is second hand information, though, so take it with a grain of salt.
