@@omaralkammash9225 I doubt it. Most poor people would not be able to participate in that long-term process. @@luther7541 Maybe, but what I mean is that you might have some dreams that would matter to others, if the same dream is shared. Martin luther King would make a perfect example, I don't think that the black community would neglect his dream, and I belive many Afro American activists would consider him as a role model.

I would add 2 things: 1. Not everybody is going to like you, and that’s fine. Even the most likable, honest person will have at least one person who dislikes them. Nobody has 100% approval rating, so don’t get upset by that. 2. You will meet some people that you don’t like, for whatever reason. And that’s fine. Disliking them doesn’t mean you can’t get along with them, or at least act cordially. If their behavior is truly out of line, let them know, privately if possible, don’t be afraid to set boundaries. 3. It’s harder to make close friends as an adult. When young, you have plenty of time and opportunity to hang out, so it generally happens naturally. As adults, you have less free time and so many things competing for your attention: family, work, exercise, hobbies, etc. You have to make an effort to maintain friendships or cultivate new ones, or else you’ll drift apart. And 4: while you are ultimately responsible for your self and your happiness, it always helps to have people in your corner.

Okay let's put a pin in this one right now. Everyone who doubts you will NOT always come back around. That bully might stay a bully for his (their) entire life, regardless of what you do with yourself. That girl (or boy?)who didn't want to date you will NOT always come back around, and they shouldn't. People choose you for their own reasons. You do not earn them like tokens for your progress in life. Your accomplishments don't entitle you to be chosen by someone. That choice belongs to the person for their own reasons. I'm commenting on this because I see this opinion as the seed to having a really bad attitude when you do accomplish things in life and people DO NOT CHANGE like you hope they would. You can spend a lifetime trying to make things work with certain people. It's not supposed to be that hard. Find new people.

Good advice, but I have to disagree with 16. People who don’t like you *do not* come back just because your life changes for the better, and they shouldn’t have to because they have their own lives to live. The world and other people’s lives don’t revolve around you whether you stay the same or change. There are literally billions of people on this planet, just forget the ones that aren’t for you and move on.

17 - you are a reflection of the 5 people you spend the most time with: That person can also be the collective "person" on a social media platform. This video is full of awful advice. Not all of it, to be sure. But here are some of the worst bits: #2 “Your dream doesn't really matter to anyone else.” This may or may not be true. Parents, spouses, and close friends may, in fact, care DEEPLY about “your dream” because they care deeply about you. They may go to great lengths to help you reach your goals. So this is clearly not always true at all. #7 “Most people don’t do what they love...because they didn’t fight hard enough...they didn't make it happen for themselves.” What a load of TOTAL BULL! Whoever wrote this script doesn't have a clue about real life. The overwhelming majority of our circumstances are not under our control. From who are parents are, to our schools, our skin color, how attractive we are, our height, the times we live in, our access to resources, whether or not we happen to know the right people, whether what we “love” to do happens to have financial rewards, and on and on. This idea that we can all just pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps is pure propaganda. They want us to blame only ourselves and each other for our hardships, when our greatest obstacle is, in fact, a rigged system shot through with deep corruption, cronyism, and casteism. #18. Maybe there is no right or wrong, but there ARE consequences, and everything is NOT relative. Subjecting women to harsh control is wrong. Killing or torturing people is wrong. Enslaving people is wrong. These values are not relative, and not making that clear is an abdication of responsibility. #20 What is the meaning of life? Maybe it is to be yourself. Or maybe it's to help other people. Or both. Or lots and lots of other things. This advice is so self-centered and myopic as to be absurd.

astromilk, I think maybe it's because at some level, we all want to feel like we have at least some control over our own lives. I know I feel that way, even though I’ve come to see the world very differently. So it’s an easier sell. But that one great lie has tentacles everywhere. It's such a bedrock of our contemporary culture. It's a given - internalized, unexamined and powerfully defended almost as a reflex. Sorry....stream of consciousness. And, of course, it fits diabolically well with, and in support of, racism (and its “fathers”, casteism and status-consciousness, two ideas powerfully influencing our culture but even less acknowledged, and more taboo to discuss.) And your right to point to studies regarding notions including bootstrapping - it’s proof right there for anyone to read.

@@sfkeepay Number 7 is still accurate to me. Most people's passions are not only possible but have been done by others in even worse circumstances. It's still on you to make it happen despite all the stuff you said which is true. You accept the unfairness of the game. You choose to play or not. There's so many stories of people coming from nothing to becoming extraordinary. Someone does this everyday somewhere in the world. Despite their deficiencies we all them. If they can do it in a worse circumstances so can you. These people are living proof of it.And I'm not trying to be positive minded it's more about knowing you went for it and not living with the regret. Because you might not succeed at what you love.

#7 "The masses are not the ones who live the lives they dreamed of living. And the reason is because they didn't fight hard enough" lol that is incredibly stupid. I myself live a good life, I have meaningful relationships, I have a job I enjoy that pays well, I'm reasonably healthy. But I don't have all that because I fought hard, it's mostly because I got extremely lucky. I was fortunate enough to inherit some traits from my parents that allowed me to "make it" in the profession I wanted, I was fortunate enough to have my parents around to nurture my natural talents and shape me in a positive way, I was fortunate enough to be born in a country with public healthcare and good public schools, so even though I'm from a poor family (grew up in a rented studio in a shitty neighborhood), I could still have the stability and opportunities that aren't as broadly available in most parts of the world. To judge the effort solely based on the outcome, not accounting for other essential factors, is just very ignorant and logically flawed.

This is beautiful! I am 60 and agree with all of it. I'm living my dream life because I've gone against the masses and fought hard for what I wanted to do. It was hurtful, but also okay to see friends slip away as I grew. New friends come into my life. And you still hear from old ones from time to time. I hope to live to at least 90 to continue on this beautiful path of love, creativity, and success. 💖

Contentment is the core of happiness. Unhappiness has rejection at its core, rejecting the past forms depression, rejecting the present causes boredom, while rejecting the future instills fear It's all about rejection. It's that simple, forget the past, don't ponder on what could have happened or why things happened the way it did, be spontaneous, let go off daily routines, try new things, and fear not, for everything will happen the way they are.

“Many people stop reading after college" About this, I think reading itself isn't the virtue implied by this statement; I think the deep introspection and critical thinking required to develop an understanding of a written medium's dialogue without being shown it explicitly, is the value that is implied with it. I say this, because I don't read a lot, but I feel this way in mediums that are more "accessible" to me like movies, video games, and youtube videos (some more than others). What do you think, is this a wise statement, or do I need to pick up a book?

You're right nowadays it doesn't have to be a book I mean, you can learn now from the movies you watch, video games, videos and some informative sites. The habit of reading and learning is what makes sense to it. But others read or watch something just for entertainment not really learning anything

Perhaps a middle ground would be wondering around a bookshop or doing a reading quiz online and see what sorts of topics catch your eye or are completely alien to you and then watch videos on them?

This video is mostly very cool and all but it's very misleading in terms of meritocracy The masses don't live their dreams because life didn't allow them to, and not because people are lazy. Also, the bully won't always kneel for forgiveness and your high school crush won't come back crawling for you, life isn't that simple. And if you do succeed in life (which I think is very possible mind you), you should understand that you didn't get there without any help and that there weren't any villains plotting evil plans for your failure (except for the system), there were only people living their lives.

Karma is a religious/philosophical idea, not a physical fact. There are people who continually doubted you who will never know, or care, whether you ever became a success and who you will never see again; such is life. The idea that they'll come back in some situation where you're suddenly in the driver's seat, much less that "it ALWAYS happens that way" and "ALL the doubters will eventually come asking for help" is just a huge leap for me, particularly when you should "just stay focused on you" anyway. Some people would say that success is the best revenge, but truly successful people don't worry about things as petty as revenge. This can apply to someone with depression as the “fighting” aspect is taking accountability over your actions (or in-actions) and get help to get out of depression. The point is that people want things handed to them and for them to be easy; people are unwilling to make changes that will directly help them achieve their goals bc they take the easy way out. 21. Don't accept every "things people realize too late in life" video as a universal truth. This video has good points but it's outdated for today's society. But so is every other video like this one. No matter how much you believe in yourself, that girl who refused to date you won't come around chasing after you, that's not how it works. Oh, the kid who used to bully you in school? You won't believe me but the truth is that you will probably end up working for them. He bullied you because you were an easy target for your insecurities, while he was confident and kinda narcissist. But self confidence and a slightly out of spec moral compass are the prerequisites to be an employer. @@drbonesshow1 OK, so here are my thoughts. I want to know if this violates physics or can be disproven in any way. While I do not think it is a scientific approach and more of a philosophical approach I am wondering about the beginning of our universe and what may lie beyond our universe. So let us assume we get rid of all "things" Every particle, every motion of particles, etc... Everything we can call a thing. what still exists? I am thinking Space as pure distance. I.E. The hypothetical distance between 2 or more hypothetical particles. In other words, there is no wall out there or border saying this is how far you can go. Also, Time as in Pure duration. Or the hypothetical movement of our particle at one point in space at T=0 versus our hypothetical particles new position at T=1. As there is no border in space there is no clock saying this is when the first thing can begin moving and this is when the last thing will move. Hence space and time which are both mathematical relationships exist in infinity and eternity. While this space and time would appear vastly different than our own spacetime in the Einstein sense I cannot seem to do away with them conceptually. I also think such a system would require infinite potential energy but I cannot place my finger on why so I will put a pin in that for now. Either way, if energy cannot be created or destroyed it would fit in with such an eternal view of the greater cosmos. What else might we have? Some type of laws of physics (again vastly different than our own), and hence mathematics. Such laws of physics would be required if we postulate the movement of our hypothetical particles. I view math as infinite as well. It certainly has infinities. For example, no matter how high the number you can always add another 1, also 0 appears as an infinity to me. With Mathematical relationships we get fields. This gives us the field interactions that may have created our universe such as inflation and quark fields, etc... Basically I am thinking the entire universe is built on mathematics and it is the very essence or nature of reality. Like a fractal is simple repeating math over space and time. This also appears to me as infinity. Does this fit with your view of physics. Can this be debunked or is it a decent model of what we may be dealing with. Also, can we make a prediction using this model? For example, if the Cosmos and our universe are a fractal then we should see fractal patterns on the largest and smallest scale right? Thank you for your time and thoughts on this.

Personally I think religion is a complete waste of time (for me) so I don't hold it to the same standard as the rest of these, however I see no issue with people that do get value from it. If 'god' makes you feel special and gives you fulfillment, go for it! I just think it's RIDICULOUS to compare it to the rest of these, especially since so many non believers are doing just fine or even better. Also consider the amount of ex-Christians who've talked about being FAR happier and accepted once LEAVING the religion, not while they were in it..

Also what about the other 1000 gods and religions? Those ones are all fake? But yours just happens to be the real one?? Come on dude, tell me you don't see the issue here..... 😂. I don't wanna come off as invalidating anyone but I'm just giving my opinion on how these things in the video and 'god' aren't comparable at all. ❤

21. Most people have no clue about life (or anything), so it's pointless to depend on them for answers, just like kids who don't study for an exam and look at each others' tests to cheat but they all repeat the same mistakes in their own exam papers.

It's kind of discouraging how important reading seems to be when I'm dyslexic so it takes so much time and effort compared to typical readers. Audio books just don't feel the same though, so I may have to just bite the bullet and struggle for a bit because I really used to enjoy reading.

I'm a lawyer and I despise reading. I haven't read a book or even tried in five years or so. I don't think it's "important" whatsoever, although reading is crucial for my job. I find that my friends who read a lot speak always in reference to concepts that come from what they've read, this appears limiting to me and lacking in creativity.

Very easy things to say. Go to poor places and live like how they live there. I don't think you still have time to do what makes you happy coz you're too busy finding ways to be alive or your family alive. And worse, other people will do something bad to you and to others because they also need to survive the hardships of life. That's the reality living as poor in poor places/countries.

16 definitely should redone as it’s only half true, like status has an impact on your desirability, but circumstances on both persons could easily lead you out of that direction, “ie- conflicts, convenience, association and a change social personality”

All easier said than done especially if one is a simpleton...most ppl are complex individuals with unique psychological profiles and experiences and unfortunately for a lot of us these days financial stress is overwhelming making it difficult to "better" our selves.

That's true, but at the same time, the process (I find) is often so simple. Hence, I find forgetting about all the hard parts and focusing on what's in front of me makes it easier. Best of luck to you!
