Mate I gotta say that has to be some of the best quality rolls of turf I've ever seen come off a pallet. Whoever farmed that should be super proud. As far I am aware we have no Zoysia over here yet but I do hope it makes it's way I would love to have a play around with it. Another great video BK good on ya mate!

Great stuff mate, just helped my neighbour lay 150sqm of sir grange few weeks ago, first time I had seen it up close and couldn’t believe the colour and how fine the leaf blades are, amazing stuff. I have tif tuff and very similar density between the two

Im Brissie too. SG layed on sand as required now 1mth old and looking fantastic. Gotta water each day and fill joins with sand after laying though I’d say. This grass is way better the the SW buff I had before.

Interesting that you decided to retain the frequency but half the quantity, why this rather than the usual "less frequent but deeper" mantra which would mean retaining the 10min but half the frequency? Wouldn't that lead to the water soaking in and thus deeper roots and better drought tolerance?

Hi mate great question, The short reason is simply the roots aren't deep enough yet for deep irregular waters schedules yet. As time goes on then yes absolutely I support the deep infrequent watering model

@@jordanc3233 I’m going to let it settle in for 12 months then hit it next spring. SGZ takes a while to establish a good root system . So in my climate I think it’s best to let it find its feet before I do anything crazy with it .

If there’s a better warm season turf for the home lawn, I haven’t seen it. Consider using auxinone to encourage root establishment, I have found it beneficial with zoysia.

What's your fertilisation plan going to be like with SGZ? Granular and Liquid? Or will you just stick to liquid since the nitrogen requirements on the lawn is so low?

I've been loving this series on the backyard and giving me so many good tips on my own backyard I'm slowly plugging away at. Although I'm still unsure on installing irrigation and leaning toward getting a hand with getting that... but I was wondering if the same process is applied for sowing seeds? My funds are very tight at the moment and I'm already stressing on the thought of paying a landscaper (but it makes sense to get irrigation done right now before trying to establish the lawn by watering with a hose/sprinkler attachment). Adding the cost of turf to this struggling household may be pushing the bank account a bit too much 😅😢 I've got couch seeds ready to sow when I get good quality soil down.

Yeah still similar to turf but you’ll be also up against competing weeds while the couch germinates and establishes . Secret to seed is keep the surface moist at all times during germination and establishment

@theaussielawn yeah worried about the weeds. I'm currently taking off the top layer of crappy soil and most of the junk growing in it and being cautious with spraying any poison. Will have about an inch of fresh, clean soil to seed. Will definitely keep the water up! Thanks for the videos mate, loving ya work!

what's the benefit for doing the tile pattern? once fully grown gaps should all disappear right?

@@mkii9110 particularly on sloping ground it can help to avoid topsoil washing out during heavy rains while the lawn is bedding in. It will also mow a bit neater initially. Most of the benefits are during the establishment phase of the lawn . Once it’s all bedded in you’ll never know what way it was laid

I was checking daily for this upload - simply outstanding ✨️... I noticed you always use sandy loams for your underlay - is there any reason to steer clear of the special organic turf mixes? It is a case of don't believe the hype? I'm preparing for 400m2 of tiftuf and inclined to go with a stock 80/20......

Fantastic work mate. Could watch you lay turf all day. The turf looks fantastic. I laid a Sir Grange lawn last year on a sand based profile in Hexham. It took a good 6 months to properly take root. Really interested to hear how yours goes in a different environment and soil type.
