In this video I am continuing my series on Toyota plugin hybrids with the RAV4 prime. When the Prius prime came out back in 2017 there wasn't much buzz around it as the world presumed it's another Prius. However they missed the mark in my opinion because the Prius Prime was vital to the birth of the RAV4 Prime.
Toyota learned a lot from the good and bad things of the Prius Prime and the RAV4 prime sure did create a buzz when it came out.
In this video we'll look at the battery with a very rare picture of the actual battery outside the car. Also we'll talk about the air tightness checks on the battery to ensure it is completely sealed and protected from the elements.
Also I'll touch base on the changes inside the inverter with converter assembly, the major change being the location of the DC\DC converter and the additional Boost converter.
Also we'll cover the transmission and differential briefly and we'll talk a bit about charging. Very slight changes in the engine timing which we'll cover as well.
In the video that will follow this one, I will discuss the world's most complicated car HVAC system which belongs to the RAV4 Prime. In addition to the super complicated heat pump system this system also serves to cool the battery. The "liquid cooled" is actually refrigerant cooled and not with fans or anything. More on that in the upcoming video.
