Just a little insight into a day I might spend alone - foraging for Wild Chamomile (Pineapple Weed) and Wax Currants. At the end of this video I share some of my thoughts on my lifestyle, and what drew me to leading a life of simplicity and quietness. I have not yet mastered how to live this way, but every day I feel greater abundance and love. Hugs to all!

you are absolutely right, I finally bought a few acres in the farm side of the panhandle, after 8 deployments I can say my state of Mind and blood pressure has defently improved. only issue is the countryside is not as community based as everyone thinks unless you're family has routes established

Literally same, but I live in California and finding someone with similar values is like finding a needle in a haystack. I have a rough 3 year plan to go off God willing....but even if I don't find someone willing to do it with me I'm still gonna go for it.

I would encourage you to get out of Cali sooner rather then later, but I understand if financially it just doesn't make sense yet. I live in AZ right now and plan to move to somewhere in the Pacific Northwest in a year or two. Possibly Northern Idaho or Oregon, whatever land I can afford really. I've been studying 6 hours a day for the past 6 years to be the best at my firm, but I do feel the need to let it all go and move somewhere cozy, live in harmony with nature, and be myself. Congratulations on your recovery (from "civilization")! As a life-long "nature-girl" and introvert, I had always aspired to live as you do. I escaped Brooklyn as soon as I could (mid 20s) and have steadily progressed to living as close to nature and as peacefully and remotely as possible. Now, in my mid 50s, I am in graduate school, making a career change to become a therapist. My goal is to use nature as much as possible to help clients find peace and healing, no matter what their challenges might be. I find your channel very soothing. I live on a rural mountain acreage in a cottage-style cabin with my husband of almost 45 years, chickens and a cat who adopted us almost 6 years ago. I rarely ever see anyone other than my husband and on rare occasion, one of my sons. I love wild birds, flowers and herbs; we grow a good bit of our own food and preserve it, just put up a good bit of jam and pear butter from pears grown here. We made a purposeful choice to live away from most of society and other than my KZbin channel and ones I sub to, plus the long-running chicken forum I have been a member of for almost 15 years, I have no social media attachments. Miss Paola. I have previously written to you today and suspect you won't see this. That is okay because I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your stories because I too, am pursuing a slower lifestyle. I came from a farm (in Southern Alberta, Canada) and discovered how displeasing city life can be. I made the decision with my wife to move to an extremely small community. I'm now a land-owner with a very large garden in the works :) I am also on the volunteer Fire Department which is an honour. Love at first conversation. You are what I imagine Jane Austen, David Thoreau, and the ever-present Introvert who ever existed in humanity embodies. I love your tone, your voice, your deep intonation, your smile. I speak almost like you with your way of talking, that defies the current standard speech and mannerism of the modern day western woman. I sometimes wonder, if the need to be with people is a capitalist's advertisement (Married people are healthier and happier, kids need to have peer friends, women are social creatures, etc..) and whether it is equally as healthy, and un-odd, to be by one's self. imagine living and growing up in the bronx ny where you cant even get ONE nights sleep because people are blasting their music literally from morning to night, there is noise from motorcycles REPEATEDLY driving up and down your block revving their bikes at 12-3am, there are block parties thursday-saturday right in front of your building, your apartment vibrates because your downstairs neighbors have a club base stereo system in their apartment. this is literally the sick bs i go thru every single day. my boyfriend and i are in nursing school and studying is a struggle..we are suffering not being able to go to the library and from lack of sleep. our next step is suing our lanlord because they do nothing about this..my point is I WISH I COULD TRADE PLACES WITH YOU EVEN IF JUST FOR ONE DAY! please know that you are blessed...i cannot wait to leave new york city i can honestly say as a 100% true new yorker I HATE IT HERE.

I love to be alone and spend a lot of my time alone. I love going places by myself and giving myself challenges. I'm 68 now and retired, I go away to southern Spain for four months a year and live really simply. I'm vegan and make all my food from scratch. My question to you would be, living in the wilds as you do is there nothing to be afraid of. I mean dangerous animals or even dangerous evil humans, of which there are many. Do you have any form of defense. I mean you don't seem to have a phone or internet. I prefer to be in a small town with people nearby. But I do love the country and foraging and growing herbs etc

I’m not off grid and am about 4 miles from town, I am able to support myself on a smaller budget as a teacher and artist 🤍 the wild animals are quite afraid of humans and stay away, you just apply common sense when you see them and turn the other way. And I suppose there are dangerous humans everywhere? There is more crime of that sort in more populated areas, so it’s not a concern for me. I have all the technology that most do, in fact, my life is quite normal and in touch with my community. And my bf and I spend time together and time apart, that’s normal for dating couples. These videos are artistic escapes for relaxation 🤍

You know I would say I spend much of my time working in order to make a living, but I am lucky to live on a property shared by my family, so we support each other and therefore I have some free time to do what I love. @@TheCottageFairy There is a great book out on how hard younger people have to work these days to be able to survive - I was really impressed with it and felt it opened my eyes! It is called The Burnout Generation by Anne Helen Petersen and talks about the many part time jobs people cobble together to make a living! Younger generation has loads of debt older folks never had - college expenses etc.

I am so sorry you have not lived your dream. There is still time. Research areas of low cost living. There really are some remote, rural counties/small towns out there. I, too, am 71 and live the very quiet life. My only unhappiness comes from having lost my wonderful husband 9 years ago. If he was still with me, living my dream would really be complete. I am blessed to have had him -- and my dream life --- for 33 years. Sending you light and love.

I worked at a factory for many years, and now work at a different place in town. Bought a beautiful piece of land in the country some years back, and now only work part-time...so that I can enjoy my peaceful life out here. When I wanted to buy land, it was way too expensive through realty companies. I saw a beautiful piece of abandoned land, went to the courthouse, found out who owned it, and gave him a call. The owner lived in a town several hours away..turned out it belonged to his mother until she died, and it was just sitting there, abandoned. He sold it to me for a tiny FRACTION of what it would have cost, through a realty company. It can be done! I'm 68.

I am absolutely in love with your videos. They are such a breath of fresh air in this hectic world, and I the words you said at the end really resonated with me. I too spent my late teens and early twenties overworking myself to save up money and fit the societal ideal and felt very disconnected from my spirit. Almost one year ago, I moved out west to the Okanagan valley (which looks very similar to the mountains in which you live!) and have found so much peace here living rurally. To be able to spend the day sketching, gardening, reading, and wandering in nature brings me so much joy, and I really don't mind being alone because I am now able to find so much joy and abundance in my own heart. I am hoping to maintain this slower, quiet lifestyle for as long as it resonates. Thank you for sharing these beautiful snippets of your life with us, and for being such an inspiration to be more mindful about how we move about and relate to our world. ps. to anyone out there (i am a female who sways both ways) i will be taking applications to start a cottage core life out in a rural town, with our own gardens and home. i will make us tea and paper and we can go on walks with our dogs and go home to our cats. we can make our own candles and take some to our neighbors. fresh flowers on the counter at least 3-4 times a month. and we write letters to our families even though we both have phones. oh and we can read or paint together. so yes. serious inquiries only.
