@@krampusklaws2238 The big wallet is absolutely necessary. Plus in the process of taking down animals to make these wallets you learn a lot of important skills. For example, you can reduce an elephant's hp down to almost zero with grenades and then finish it off with a few bullets so the grenades don't damage the hide, and it takes a minute instead of half an hour like shooting it to death would, but this requires that you ambush jeeps on the road frequently to steal their grenades, so you learn hunting and ambushing skills. And you really learn the importance of a vantage point because if you're not up high the elephant with FUCKING KILL YOU! I found a great spot to do this and got my elephant wallet in no time.

I think much of these two and half star creations would have been more successful if the writers had created series unrelated to SW. But that would assume corp. with mngrs who would invest in originality and that'll never happen, it's much to easy use the SW name. The ROP fiasco going on is the epitome of this type of thinking, nothing original just ripping off the past.

Rick Roll Rizal I think they overdid it though. He’s this total badass but almost every time he gets fucked up its because he made some really amateur mistake that made no sense. In the last episode he turned his ships defenses on when he left it. But didn’t think to do that on an unknown planet and then Jawas scrapped his shit? Plus, the fact he got his ass best by some wack-ass Jawas was disappointing. And why fulfill their task? You had them stopped, you could have shredded them and taken your stuff back. Just illogical. Jumps out in front of that guild droid not expecting to be shot without warning it first? You. Could have shouted your a guild member FIRST. Who jumps in front of a gun going HAM on enemies? Gets his ass nearly beat in a bare knuckle fight while wearing armor after walking into an obvious trap. In another obvious turn of events, he is double crossed by Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad. @bokudensuduharagmail no yeah I meant that the whole thing in the prequels of giving the force a will was kinda meh and the prophecy was kinda meh, though the way Anakin fulfilled it was neat. Kreia's points make me big anger because she's lying and manipulating you, but everything she says is true and the will of the force becomes a pointless nihilistic thing when you get three trilogies (well two really, because OT had nothing to do with overblown prophecies and balance) of the force claiming it wants balance but constantly causing wars of genocidal proportions. It sorta made sense when it was a buildup to the Vong (though I dislike the Vong themselves), trying to unite the galaxy, but at present it's just a cyclical force of destruction. It was cooler when the force was more low-key and driven by the people who used it, and not the other way around, instead of having a Luke who chooses to learn the ways of the force and use it for good, we have a Rey who gets used by the force to do good without ever really making a decision or even helping the wider world until the very end and watching as trillions are slaughtered. Hence, why Mandalorians hold a much higher place in my mind than any force wielders.

@ShadoSnake The point of Kreia's character was to be the voice of Chris Avellone (the dude who wrote KOTOR 2) and his criticisms of destiny and the Force. The end conversation with Kreia at Malachor V was the synthesis of his criticisms. Kreia (and by proxy Avellone) hate how the Force exerts a measure of control over the galaxy for the purpose of establishing some Machiavellian form of "balance" while "countless lives are lost." Kreia hates the Force because it is negligent of the free will of individuals and this negligence results in massive amounts of pain and suffering for seemingly no reason except to keep the pendulum swinging. The Jedi and Sith have been fighting the exact same war for over 20,000 years. Sometimes the Jedi win and sometimes the Sith win, but their is no final victory. Kreia sees through the dogmatic bullshit of both the Jedi and the Sith and she sees how dependent their respective dogmas are on the Force itself. Kreia wants people to be free of the Force so they can struggle, grow, and reach resolution of both their individual problems and the problems of the galaxy. Kreia's message throughout the game is that of existentialist growth where people learn and grow through experience and failures. Something handed to someone has no value (remember the Refugee on Nar Shaddaa) and will likely cause more distress. I encourage you to replay KOTOR 2 and really listen to the conversations with Kreia. Once you get past the absolute good-and-evil bullshit, she actually makes a lot of sense. Yes, her acting needs work, but her fight scenes are genuine - and you can tell she puts in the work, so they come out extremely believable. In a world where every studio is trying to put forth a strong female character; to the point where it's a detriment to the movie/show itself, I've never felt that with her - and i'm comforted that her "horrible emoting" will only get better with practice, haha.

In fact, it matters so much that we've developed a plurality of fighting styles to avoid injuring yourself (or limit the injury) during an attack. Many grappling moves and styles, like Judo, were developed to deal with armored enemies because simply punching them achieves nothing but hurt yourself. I've injured myself hitting the wrong part of my opponent's skull once. I wouldn't for the live of me want to punch a helmet. That said, all fighters can make mistakes, so falling back on a wrong technique (punching a nearly indestructible helmet) is not outside the scope of a good character. I like how Mando shows more character then Rey, despite not even showing his face. As for Gina Carano, sure she's not an actor, but at least when she's in an action scene, I can believe she can wreck some face. Btw, I liked that banter between those two scout troopers. Shows that they are people too, not just cardboard badguys. PS: even Han didn't know really about the Jedi. The movies revolve around them, but in their prime there were only hundreds or maybe a few thousand of them in a galaxy of trillions of entities. Not unbelieveable if many don't know about them, or think of them as some kind of sorcerers or something.

With Han I always inferred from his "doesn't guide my destiny" speech in A New Hope that, he was aware of the Force, but, just wrote it off as superstition. Even if he heard stories about the Jedi it's not like he was present, witnessing their telekinetic feats & laser swordplay. Probably regarded them as exaggeration.

Yes Han didnt know about the jedi, but thats before we got the prequels where Jedi were meddling all over the republic and leading a war effort, ontop of all the lore for times before that like the high republic era, the old republic, etc where there were wars between Sith and Jedi, ontop of Mandalorian history being one where they warred against the Jedi actively, so I would find it pretty weird that they dont learn about one of their greatest adversaries. Not to mention, it seems like Mando was a child during the clone wars, which, again, jedi were actively and widely involved. Just seemed like a weird thing to have him be ignorant about at this point with the world building star wars has done. For people born sometimes AFTER order 66, I can completely understand them not know wtf a Jedi is with the empire actively erasing anything to do with jedi.

The reverse can be seen with male depictions in Hollywood - the white male is evil and sinister or emasculated and crushed by the 'strong woman'.

The Mandalorian was exactly what I've been looking for these days on a show: simple, uncomplicated fun. Cracked a few beers, watched it with the lady, and had a good time. But better than that, it also appeals for the lore hungry fans of Star Wars that look for those kind of things as well: my girl is very passionate about SW stuff, and wouldn't stop pointing out how this or that related or happened in dunno what time in the SW universe. She freaked out with the "darksaber' ending, while to me it was just the bad dude getting out with a glorified can opener. They do have shields even in the original Trilogy. They destroy a shield generator of a Star Destroyer in Return of the Jedi just before the A-Wing crashes into the bridge.
@justforever965 ай бұрын
Of course they have shields. They mention them numerous times through the films. In the first X-wing attack he tells the pilots to put their deflector shields up. The reason they attack with small fighters is because larger ships can't penetrate the shield. They have to take the shield down in ROTJ because they upgraded the shields so even smaller craft can't pass though. They need the shuttle codes to pass through a port. Han says at one point "the shields can't take this much longer" when the Falcon is being pursued and hit by enemy ships. One of the main reasons TIE fighters are so compact is that they lack shielding (and hyperdrives and life support and landing gear). I haven't watched those in years and I still remember all that stuff.

This is the first time I've really disagreed with you. I actually appreciate that the show didn't try to do too much. It's like Gunsmoke, that show is a classic and is one of the longest running shows in history for a reason. But you don't go into Gunsmoke expecting an experience like The Prestige, or Joker, or anything like that. There will be times where it is more compelling than others, and you take that as it comes and appreciate it for what it is. But ultimately there is a spot for a simple show with a decent spread of action and character development that doesn't try to do to much. It has an interesting enough setting and interesting enough plot, but many episodes are more or less an adventure in his life on any given day just like the old westerns were. I think its nice this style of show is returning. Too many shows try to hard to do too much these days, then under deliver. The beauty with The Mandalorian is that you can go into it not expecting a bunch of convoluted plots that may or may not work, or some sort of physiological thrill ride that leaves the brain spinning. Its simple fun, and it works. I hope it stays around.

I found the simplicity of the show and it's storytelling refreshing. I appreciate a well told, long developing, grand story arc as much as anyone, but there are plenty of shows like that now. It was nice to have a show that says "Jawas stole Mando's shit, and he's gotta get it back". Little adventures like that make The Mandolorian seem more realistic, cause not every storyline needs to have "the fate of the galaxy" stakes to them.

Issue is that they need their barriers and limits. Female power is very much so centered around emotion and cunning, male is about perseverence, strength and stoicism. Two opposites that complete a whole and that is a lot of what we are missing. I miss female characters that are powerful in ways that are feminine, and thus unexpected. Enchanting men and thus shaping politics. Many arent aware of it but Helen of Troy was one of the most powerful women that caused tens of thousands to die for her, and a civilization to collapse for her. In the oddyssey this is pointed out where she half heartedly admits that she was a whore, who ran off on a whim from her husband. And when Telemachus and Menaleus start crying she drugs them to lull them to sleep. This is the kind of storytelling we need and want, not the strong woman shite we get. Not even the "equally strong without diminishing each other" idea that was presented in the video although I dont doubt the critical drinker would basically share the same opinion I have put out here. Basically im tired of shite storytelling, and I need to vent.

@@boguslav9502 Do you get why women would be "cunning"? It's not because that is necessarily a "feminine" skill. It's because my gender realizes reality and knows that in a fight, the boy wins 9 times out of 10. So what do we do? How do we win or even have a chance of surviving? What men call "cunning" and "emotions" is what I call sound strategy to deal with an unfair playing field. I'm sure that men would want to play differently if the world were different and women were physically stronger. Then, men would be playing to the non-physical strengths in order to win against sheer barbaric physical violence. Instead of setting it up into gender, because this is a galaxy far far away and the people, even the human looking ones, are not humans... let's set up fatal character flaws and less obviously stereotypical expectations. Look at Penelope - the one who was so clever that she knew she couldn't beat her suitors on a physical level. So what does she do? She undoes her work for her stupid moronic husband's funeral shroud in order to ensure her son's survival. (She's probably planning for her son to get to a proper age and take control because that's what a society like this would have needed... a strong male warrior.) And her moronic husband, who apparently is so clever, can only think of fucking the goddesses because "he had no choice". (Sorry, I haven't read the Odyssey in a long time. I just remember thinking.. damn he's always making excuses for why he has to sleep with somebody.) (The legend of Helen of Troy is that she was enchanted and thus ran away. That makes her a victim, not a whore. I always like Elizabeth the First as an example. She understood the reality of the world and played the "virgin" while playing the men in her court and the men in power in other countries. She understood that it isn't always about physical strength.)

@@Deuteromis - not quite. there is the similarity of the wandering lone skilled killer and child, but that is *so far* the only similarity. I'm saying this having read the Koike and Kojima manga (from the early 1970s) in the early 1990s. Lone Wolf and Cub (aka: shogun assassin, baby cart assassin) revolved around a central premise of Itto Ogami - an honorable man, the former official kaishakunin employed by the Tokugawa Shogunate- seeking revenge for his wife and household having been butchered and having been fraudulently branded a treasonous criminal. He was killing his way to the top - the Yagyu clan and their henchmen were his enemies. This is non-trivial - the Road to Hell (meifumado) is THE central premise of the whole epic book series. So far, the show lacks anything like that central premise. Now, it *might* pivot in that direction, given what the season finale revealed. But, as of now? No. Not quite. Which would not be dissonant - iirc the manga didn't lay out the root cause of the story until late in the first 300-odd page volume. ... damn... where did I store those fat bastards?
