I have spent my first 40 years not being authentic, trying to hide my autism and adhd. I diluted all the things that make me great but in order to please a 1/3 of people who might not connect with the real me. Now, pivoting into a design career midlife (although I swear to god my brain thinks it’s 30) I have made a commitment to spend more energy on growth and less on masking. Thank you for laying down the foundation for discovering who is truly there and finding a balance in the duality.

hey count your blessings, a woman i know, her son (he's about 35 years old) is autistic and he can't speak at all, just grunts, and is extremely chaotic like a rampaging toddler and just can't interact with people AT ALL and he gets freaked out by every noise so has to wear sound suppressing ear covers at all times and he has never ever been able to speak and he can't read or write or use phones etc so really you are blessed if your autism is subtle enough to do all those things you do, we used to call that being "sensitive" but i guess definitions change.. but really if you can use technology and you can interact with people (even if it's stressful) then you'll be ok, just be kind to yourself in the tough times and think about my friends son any time you think you have it hard

Dear Futur Team… I did it. I did this exercise as honestly as I could, and it was beautiful. I thought Chris was tripping when he said people usually get to tears, but 2 hours later, discussing everything I wrote, and getting genuine feedback from my closest friend, I was forcing tears back, and evening my voice out so the shaky breath wasn't audible. Laugh - out - loud . . . I feel equipped. I'm glad I put in the work. Can't wait to see what I'll do next. Thank you.

Thank you KZbin for starting to recommend Chris Do/The Futur content again. Watched chris religiously for 6+ years (back in the Jose days, he even did a website desing critique for me back in the Skool days). I took my learnings from that era and went deep into my own journey, moving more away from the branding/design space. But here I'm back as a content creator/KZbinr, and building our site up, and here Chris and The Futur is again at the time in my career that I'm ready for it again! Chris, you are one of my mentors from afar. The same way that Jose got you infront of the camera as an introvert, you helped me do that as a fellow introvert. Seeing the evolution you went through to be now who you are completely owning the stage in one of the most engaging presentstions I've ever seen, gave me permission to also create, talk, and become that extroverted introvert. Going to go binge more content on your channel to catch up, it has been too long

This was Alex (me) by the way, not Andra. That said, Andra and I connected early on with your content, one of your talks on Ikigai, we did all of the workbooks together. So Chris Do was a mutual mentor for both of us literally the first 2-3 weeks of our relationship (we're now married).

However, in all of this, I've found myself being just so average. Annoyingly, it's crippled my mind, and I've been trying (and praying) to gain excellence. After watching this, I've spent the last 4 hours trying to figure out my superhero name. After running through several names like the mediocre writer, Doc-writer, and some I can't even remember, I ended up with "The MidWriter". I can't wait to watch this workout

Check this: We started our careers almost in the same way, we have the same design skills and type of creativity, the same desire to lead people creatively, seemingly wanting to influence society in exactly the same way, and... get this... we were born in the same year!
