DIY Packaging Design Assignment Portfolio Challenge

What are some quick and easy ways to improve the value of your product? Follow a young designer on assignment to a hardware store. Her mission? Demonstrate the power of design - she buys a generic bottle of glass cleaner and redesigns the label.
Watch how she moves from idea to idea and the thinking behind her designs - The process presents itself. Chris Do use his intuitive Art Directing techniques to guide her to completion.
Assignment. Go to the hardware store. Pick out an item that is less than $10. Redesign the package without changing the shape of the package. Everything else is up for grabs.

This is nice! But I still have few suggestions to make. This video is missing the third act. 1st act being what the challenge is and picking a poorly designed packaging. 2nd act is actually doing the project and suggestions from Chris. 3rd act is the summarizing part - This was the challenge. These were my design consideration and here is what I made and it checks off all the pointers in my design consideration. Explaining why, what, how and checking off things is a great way to finish this story.

I remember commenting about maybe considering making a video on packaging design and it had been a while and of course I know you guys have tight schedule so I didn't want to keep asking but just few days ago, I thought maybe you guys didnt consider but here we are. When designing or redesigning a package, you have to consider audience, not just what looks nice. Unfortunately while her redesign was visually appealing, it felt lackluster as package design and looked like a generic product. I think when doing this sort of design, you have to go to the far end of the spectrum. Look at method's package design, their packages are SO simple, but they stand out very well among the busy competition, because of the stark contrast.
