Let's be fair - working in finance has very little to do with day to day budgeting the way personal finance does. If he's halfway decent at his finance job, he could probably transfer a lot of the skills from there to his personal life easily, but if he's a financial analyst, for example, then he probably thinks in terms of forecasting various investment returns, choosing between projects for NPV (net present value) and possibly some tax consequences. Now, if he were a managerial accountant, he's have absolutely no excuse!

@katy3901
@katy3901 3 жыл бұрын
@@jenjones90 Nah, it's not that simple. Firstly, you'd need a support system already in place to help you cope with withdrawal and engagement with addiction services to access long term support; these can be difficult to maintain contact with without gp registration, which tends to require proof of address. Studio flats -- especially in London, where I believe this was filmed -- require some form of guarantor, or a credit check, or a bank account, or a reference, or a previous address; or all, as well as a deposit. That's why programmes like Housing First in Finland and Bed Every Night in Manchester are so effective; they target the issue directly, and through that provide access to support services. Homelessness and addiction is a vicious cycle not solved by you sitting there with the useless advice of "just rent out a flat!"

Hi Graham! I watched this video with my wife who is a mental health professional. She wanted me to tell you that she appreciated your commentary on this video, as it brings awareness to the stigma individuals who are experiencing homelessness and addiction struggle with.

Watching this video and listening to you talk. You have definitely earned so much respect for your character and beliefs. You really do have a good understanding of what it's like to be without. I'll be honest, you deserve all the success you have achieved. I'm hoping I'll be at that point one day where I feel comfortable with my success and life. I'm close, but not quite there yet. Awesome job!

Thank you so much for posting this video! Yesterday, I got back from a trip to Portland with my boyfriend. We saw so many homeless people in downtown who were screaming and one tried to start a fight with my boyfriend for us just walking on the sidewalk. My Dad was homeless for a couple years way back in the early 70s when he got out of Vietnam and it makes me feel so empathy for others who are currently homeless. I feel like there can be so much done with mental health services and drug rehabilitation facilities. The only reason my Dad was able to get off the streets was due to Veterans services.

I have always thought of people who worked hard for their money were rich, and that didn’t include people who got lucky from their parents inheritance or from the lottery. To me, being rich is a state of mind and not just a number in your account. Being rich is the sacrifice you had gone through to work hard and earn good money from it.
