I loved this movie, and the pace was one of those things. Particularly those motorcycle shots at the end were gorgeous. It really let the audience sit in the moments. I don't mind movies taking their time.

I don’t mind movies taking their time. I regularly sit through long movies, but I guess I wasn’t engaged in this movie. I found it really melodramatic and funny (in ways it wasn’t meant to be), the stilted dialogue and terrible pacing with multiple endings that weren’t cohesive with the rest of the movie made it feel incredibly long. I’ve never checked my phone in the middle of a movie, and I wanted to walk out at the 2 hour mark, but was committed to giving it a shot and seeing the whole thing. I think that decision made me dislike the movie even more though. Had I left at least I would have taken the good feeling of the parts I liked with me, instead I was just really exhausted.

This film absolutely overwhelmed me. Epic and a masterclass in filmmaking. You could see and feel the passion coming through on all fronts. It really had the most DNA true to the Batman mythos and the world created in it. Loved how Gotham was portrayed. Gripes for me was that I wish this was the directors cut and maybe the initial theatrical release was trimmed 20 min. This absolutely deserved to be seen in IMAX as you could feel the movie (ex. The car chase) that made you feel immersed in it all. IMO it’s not a masterpiece like TDK but what a first film and can’t wait to see more. 9.5/10

I don’t agree with the critique of people saying it’s too long, I feel like that such a nit pick people have. I think if a director has a vision and that vision is three hours then that’s what he/she should commit to. It’s even better when I love almost every second. I do think the “cameo Arkham prisoner” was unnecessary and almost felt CW compared to the rest of the film. And I love slow burn drawn out scenes and shots hell I’m a Quentin Tarantino nut and that guy will film a woman’s foot on a dashboard and drag it out for a two min intro shot ha but if the story and the acting and action is all A+ then I don’t mind the slow.

Technically it's 2:56 minutes Endgame was 3:02 minutes. It's one thing to say it felt long but to say that the runtime is too long is overblown. I'm basing it off of facts and yes I know endgame had to be that long I'm just literally talking about the runtime before you marvel fanboys lose your minds.

I think it really has more to do with the viewing experience itself, but it's hard not to mix that experience with feelings about the film. Sitting in a theater for three hours is awful. For my second showing, I took a ten minute walk in the middle and refreshed myself. I was then able to enjoy the second half of the movie more than I did in the first viewing.

I liked Pattinson take on Bruce Wayne, he ignored that aspect of his life to just be Batman all the time. The movie is also him realizing he's going to bed to work on his Bruce Wayne persona and i think it did a good job showing that realization and growth building up throughout the movie

If The Joker was a film about a broken man becoming Irredeemable, than The Batman is a film about a damaged man becoming a Force for Good! When Batman lead the people in water to safety, was Bruce first steps from being Vengeance to The Dark Knight. This film Batman suit is my favorite, the suit was the utility belt. The whole cast did an amazing job.

Don't know if any of you noticed this but, when Falcone goes down. Batman kneels/sits next to him. There's an overhead shot of the street light flickering. In context of the film/story it's about the riddle. "Bring him to the light" for me, when I saw it, I took it as Matt Reeves doing a subtle nod to Crime Alley ala the origin. To when Bruce is alone, sitting/standing/kneeling next to his dead parents. Could be a big stretch but, food for thought. Love the film. Red flair scene was beautiful. One of the most heroic moments in Batman/Superhero history across all mediums, for me. Excellent video gentlemen!!!

Good eye or interpretation. When I saw the film for the second time , I saw Bruce smiling quickly at the cameras when he got out of his car and heading into the church. Nice touch matt reeves foreshadowing his destiny to overcome his reclusiveness. This movie is soo deep and not even as a nod to the multitude of comics but as a literature metaphors and symbolism like batman saving the citizens from the flood with a flare. Reminded me of Moses and him guiding the Israelites to the promise land. Like batman guiding them into a better Gotham. Especially that scene with the woman and the stretcher holding onto him. From vengeance into a sign of hope for “cesspool [they] call the city”

On second watch, it's now become my best Batman film. No shade to Nolan or Burton (not you Snyder) but this is a Batman with nuance, mood, intelligence and introspection. A very different take, but one that enhances the Batman character. More psychological Noir thriller Batman sequels please! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another great show…gotta admit I’m with Coy I really loved that ending how they kept going with the bikes and when they separate at the tunnel I eat all of that up it was poetry and really hit me emotionally…but the joker riddler scene should have been post credit that didn’t need to be there 👍👌🎥❤️but this movie really overwhelmed me…can’t wait to watch it again…I think it’s a film that will grow on people more…I have this as my second favourite behind the dark knight but tied with Batman Begins need to let this movie marinade on me to see if it’s higher or lower than begins.

Love conversation I enjoyed the mood of Seven and The Crow of this film. Catwoman and Batman chemistry was off the charts good. The cast was great and him being young detective trying to figure out how to use Bruce Wayne was great story and how the Riddler and Penguin was used in this detective movie unlike punch kick fly like the others. I think Reeves great in world building and I felt like I was in Gotham. Great show

It was marketed as a Se7en/zodiac murder mystery story, and that’s exactly what they gave us. The movie went by so quick. I watched it again on Friday and I was more hyped and enthralled and seeing the cinematography and details. Like when Bruce got out off the car b4 heading to th r church and the photographers were saying his name “ Is that Bruce Wayne?etc”. Bruce smiled for a quick second and when I saw that I was like oh shit, he’s trying to be sociable but his introverted self got in the way. I love that coz of his evolution of the facade of playboy billionaire will come, good foreshadowing Matt reeves

@@Bateman61405 Yh. I love detective mystery movies like zodiac, seven, French connection etc. so the slow pace doesn’t even occur to me as I’m so captivated by the story and actors. I’m happy that the batman finally gets the detective element and most normal superhero movie goers won’t enjoy it coz the previous batman movies portrays him as an action man but not an intelligent and complex character b4 as in the comics/animated shows/movies.

I loved this movie more than any movie in the Nolan trilogy. I did not think that would be possible. Ever. The world Reeves created, story, pacing, etc. all placed me in that world. I was fully engaged. The motorcycles at the end were taking more than a ride through the graveyard. Selena and Batman were jockeying for position, challenging each other subtly. Which way would Batman go? Only plot point that bothered me was that there was no way the cops don’t unmask Batman when they had the chance.

I see more than a little confusion about Selina Kyle and Falcone. Catwoman: When in Rome #6 (2005) by Loeb and Sale, the same team as Long Halloween - DC Fandom summary : "Selina visits the grave of Carmine "The Roman" Falcone... She says that she knows he knows he was her father, but can never prove it." Novel about year one is coming out, at the end of the month, Before The Batman. The name of the Wayne Mansion housekeeper is Dory. "I am vengeance" comes from Batman: The Animated Series, I saw this later at an Easter egg site. Easter egg I haven't seen at Easter egg sites: what supporting character, non-villain, is from the 60's tv show? #2 what important object is in the background with Alfred in his library from 60's Batman? (noticed in my 2nd viewing).

Ive got a question/thought and would love to hear what you think: I believe that Matt Reeve's batman will be similar to Chris Nolan but different. I think that Matt's Batman trilogy could be a psychological and/or emotional one where the riddler (fave villain), is the 1st villain, then Mad Hatter (my 2nd Fave who is underrated and next could be Scarecrow, Bane, Mr. Freeze or Clayface. With the Triology having an emotional or psychological theme to this batman What you think? And who do you rhink would best be the next main villain for this new iteration of Batman, fitting in with the theme? Thank You and keep it up.

It grabs me from the beginning, I didn't mind at all its slower pace or long running time. I found it more entertaining and gripping than Batman Returns or The Dark Knight Rises for example, which are about 2 and a half hours long and Batman is only there for about 15 minutes... This it's the first film where not even Bruce, but Batman is the real protagonist, it reminded me of the animated series or a good graphic novel. I've always been a fan of the character, Batman above all others. That's why I personally always preferred Begins over TDK, but now with this one, those movies moved to second and third place respectively....

That's a very good point about seeing the movie again and things happening a bit faster. I just saw it for the first time last night (11pm AMC Dolby showing) and had no idea it was a 3hr movie. I still loved the movie, but had I known that going in, I would've been prepared to be engaged throughout. Not gonna lie, those recliners got me and there were a couple of scenes where I dozed off...We got out at 2:14am lol. Definitely need to rewatch. But what I absolutely loved was seeing the most beautiful Gotham I've ever seen on the big screen, and seeing quite a bit of the Rogue's gallery before they being fully realized. Liked seeing what everyone was doing on their own and how their connections tied them to one another. Cannot wait to see Batman/Bruce grow with these villains. And Colin Farrell KILLED IT...his portrayal and that chase sequence is easily the best part of the movie for me..that Batmobile entrance was sweeeeeet. Makes sense they're doing a Penguin show.

Kristian, as a fan of your content across several years I have to implore you to see this movie in theaters one more time if you can. My taste is usually in line with yours and I went from really liking this movie to LOVING it after my second viewing (also enjoyed the pacing much more). I believe you felt the same way about Interstellar after further viewings, which I did as well. Keep up the great content!!

I loved Batman's character arc in the film, how Bruce's humanity was absent but slowly throughout the movie he regains his humanity and you see that in the scene where he's comforting Alfred in hospital and then he realises what kind of hero he needs to be by the end and great discussion Kristian!

I've already seen it twice and plan on it a 3rd time. It has narrowly become my favorite Batman film. This is what they imagined when they first thought about making comic book movies. This can easily be pulled off the shelf like a graphic novel, It did the impossible and made it feel brand new. BRAVO!!!

It was eerie watching this movie because of the amount of things that lined up exactly with things I’ve daydreamed about having in a Batman movie. I’ve been joking about that with my brother ever since the news started trickling out and everything was stuff I’d told him they should do. When the toy for The Riddler leaked, people were wondering what the weapon in his hand was. I laughed because I was a carpet installer and thought it looked like a carpet chisel. Hilarious that the whole mystery hinged on the same tool I was using while dreaming about seeing this movie. Even all the interviews with them talking about “Matt’s vision for The Batman”, I chuckle because that’s my name.

It's fair to say that The Dark Knight series can't really be compared, but I think it's also fair to say that The Batman did justice to Batman, the character, like no other film has. We explored themes that we haven't before, and I'm so excited for what comes next after this. Also, Pattinson is now my favorite batman. That man nailed it.

I enjoyed that shot of the motorcycle leaving. . It made me think of the old cow boy movies. Shots of people leaving in their horses. The view of Batman’s boots while he was walking is similar to the camera angles of cowboy movies. Even the cape blowing in the wind reminded me of a poncho . I am sure the director was doing this.

This movie isn’t for everyone I’m sure but I was definitely for me. I loved the tone, loved how it was shot , and loved the arc of the character. This movie gets that Batman is the character and Bruce is the mask…..Batman has yet to understand the use for Bruce in this movie and that’s awesome. He’s learning. I loved this movie for what it was and also what it set up for the future. My only quibble really is the Joker scene. It felt out of place and should have been a post credit if they wanted that in there. But I loved the actual ending of the movie and the realization that Batman makes. Thanks !

I loved this movie and I cant wait to see it again. I think its in the top 3 Live action Batman films. I think it's better than The Dark Knight Rises, not better than Begins or TDK, but it is in the conversation with those films. I really didn't mind the 3 hours, I felt like it flew by. It was a bold decision for an introduction to the character and world to be a 3 hour epic. I think it paid off.

If you think about it Matt Reeves kind of crafted an intricate story where he wrote for the Riddler in some way where Reeves was like 10 steps ahead of everyone making Riddler 10 steps ahead of The Batman. This was more a Riddler's story with him using Batman as a tool expose the corruption that has destroyed Gotham City. I think the scene between Nashton and Batman really was the highlight between both of them when he finally reveals his actions he carried out and how he needed Batman's help. I think the whole body language from Edward Nashton at the Gotham State Hospital was the best performance from Paul Dano. The way he was acting felt as if a huge weight has been lifted off his chest.

Watched it last night, about 2/3 of the way in fire alarm went off and the theater had to evacuate. Luckily, we were allowed back in to finish. Was so invested in the movie that I was really dissapointed if we weren't able to go back in to finish the movie. It' may be a little long, but it was very well done. Loved most of the performances. Reeves took much care with this one. Great job, DC.

this batman movie is the best adaptation of the graphic novels to film. from the long halloween, hush, year one and court of owls. i loved it. if your a reader the reveals were great fan service of these novels. This is my favorite Batman film watched it three times along with Batman Begins.

Haven’t heard anyone talk about how batman was just ever so slightly hesitant about intimidating the penguin when he first met him at the club. LOVED that detail. You could tell there was a moment when he had to remind himself that he was in charge of the situation, and not this notorious gangster he’d only ever really heard about up to this point. It was a pretty subtle shift in his demeanor, but it was fantastic

I loved the film, agree about the Joker scene being better as a postcredit scene, but the moment that threw me off was the slow motion cut of the cord in the arena. Maybe on rewatch it won't as much but it took me out of the movie for a minute.

Liked it, but it felt so claustrophobic, as they kept going from scene to scene back to Falcone, the nightclub and the story got convoluted especially about Selina & Falcone. It looked stunning though, very atmospheric, so.moody and respectful to the source material. Score was insanely good too.

7:35 Coy Jandrau is right. Maybe it helps because I'm an artist, but the motorcycle scene is a continuance of the evolution of Bruce Wayne from blind vengeance to hope-filled knight. The first time Catwoman and Batman met, it was a violent dance. As they said their goodbyes, you could see they weren't simply driving away. They were playfully racing each other. It was a last dance between two lovers, who did not know when their paths would cross and when they finally reached their divergence point, Batman looked longingly at the one "who got away." It was beautiful. It. Was. Perfect.

This is now my fourth favorite Batman film after The Dark Knight Trilogy. I love how Selina doesn’t discover his identity like every other Batman movie. Also, I love how it looks like we will be getting an evolution of how Bruce develops the playboy facade. Here, he clearly doesn’t want to be Bruce Wayne which made it feel unique compared to the other films.

The Batman is now easily in my top 3 Batman movies of all time with Batman 1989 and Batman Begins. There isn't really much I can pick apart. You guys summed up pretty much everything I like about it too. I'll add that the Batmobile is certainly one of the best ever designed. I'm a fan of muscle cars, so I really dug that. The look of Gotham City was also stunning. It has the balance of keeping the spooky appearance while also looking like a real city that could really exist. That's one of the things I loved about Begins. If I had a couple of criticisms, it would be the score. I know I'm in the minority, but I wasn't too crazy about it, which I'm sorry to say because I'm usually a fan of Michael Giacchino's work. It wasn't terrible, but it could've been better. The other criticism is the climactic action sequence. I was hoping it'd be a bigger scene. I think I've become a bit spoiled from the 20-30 minute climaxes of most blockbusters these days, but I still feel like more could've been done with that. I'll disagree about staying on certain shots too long. I didn't notice that at all. The editing and cinematography are spot on. However, I will agree that the Arkham scene probably should've been a mid or post credits scene. That might've been more effective, but it didn't bother me. I also agree that we should wait a bit for Joker. He's my favorite villain in the Batman universe, but I'm fine if we don't see him until maybe the 3rd or 4th movie. We don't need him right away. Anyway, I give this movie 4.5. out of 5 Schmoes. Definitely one of my new favorite Batman movies.

Is the Wayne Family's wealth passed down through generations or did Thomas Wayne somehow become a billionaire while he was a doctor? Just curious because in the scene where Alfred tells Bruce he needs to meet with the Wayne Foundation accounts or else he may potentially lose "everything" I started wondering why wouldn't the accountants meet with a board of trustees? Like there's no way he can run a company or hold that much influence if he's out on patrol all night and sleeping through the day.
