Rebecca is stunned by a sudden loss. The team rallies to show their support, but Ted finds himself grappling with a piece of his past.
American college football coach Ted Lasso heads to London to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League football team.
Ted Lasso is an American sports comedy-drama television series developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, based on a character Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of England's Premier League.[2] The show follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team with the secret intention that his inexperience will lead it to failure, but whose folksy, optimistic leadership proves unexpectedly successful.
The first season of ten episodes premiered on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020, with three episodes followed by weekly installments.[3] A second season of 12 episodes premiered on July 23, 2021.[4][5][6] In October 2020, the series was renewed for a third season,[7] which will premiere on March 15, 2023.[8]
The series has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for its performances (particularly Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein), humor, writing, themes, and uplifting tone. Among other accolades, its first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy Award history. Sudeikis, Waddingham and Goldstein won for their performances, and the series won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Sudeikis also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

Even in a sadder episode, there are some really great, funny lines: "Avenge me, Keeley! AVENGE ME!" makes me laugh every time, the team struggling with not wearing sneakers and Sassy just dragging Rupert are just spectacular XD The fact that Ted and Rebecca's core traumas are implied to have happened on the same day, about the same person (their dad) always struck me as very interesting. And that Ted working through his old grief of his dad actually helps Rebecca deal with her fresh grief over hers. And as much as Jan Maas is Dutch, I do kind of wish he'd kept his mouth shut here.

11:44 - Don’t forget, Rebecca was texting Keeley before her date with Sam and mentioned running into him. She always was a smart one

I don't think the scene of ted and rebecca sharing their traumas was meant to compare the two. it was just another way of showing they're "cosmically connected soulmates" (jason's words, not mine). They went to a traumatic event that changed the way they view their fathers and ultimately changed who they were as people (ted's struggles with fatherhood and rebecca's troubled relatioships with men), and both of them went through that at the exact same time (september 13th 1991, when they were 16), it was meant to show how deep their connection is.

It's also wild that they both REVEAL it at the exact same time, 30 years later.

For me, the very best TL episodes are yet to come next season, BUT I feel this episode; 'No Weddings and a Funeral,' is the very best 'written' episode that has ever aired for any comedic television series - BEST WRITING EVER!

You should watch Four Weddings and a Funeral, someday... it's a good, fairly smart, romantic comedy (Ted and the show writers love their Rom-Coms)... with an American (played by Andie MacDowell) in Britain

I agree with you about the cutting-back-and-forth scene. It was very cleverly written, and I can understand the impulse to use humor/farce to take the edge off of something extremely emotionally heavy, but I think it came at the cost of sensitivity here. Like... yes, the word "bang" can be used to refer to both sexy stuff and the sound of a gun, but making a clever joke out of that moment doesn't quite sit right with me. Still love the episode as a whole, though!

So many things to comment on in this fantastic episode, but... this is like the fifth Reaction video of this episode I've seen and... ...no one ever mentions/reacts to Sassy implying Ted has a huge 🍆? Somehow it's one of the funniest things in the episode to me.

interesting how you almost get nauseous when mentioning rebecca and sam, but never uttered a peep about rupert and new rebecca where the age gap is the same or even bigger - and they are having a baby...

It’s interesting how you can function without any critical thinking skills. Rupert is a bad guy. Of course his relationship with Becks is gross and him having a kid is just a screw you to Rebecca. That’s some villain shirt right there. So do excuse me for keeping Rebecca to a higher standard. Her relationship with Sam had a huge power imbalance but she’s supposed to be a good guy so I had a problem with it.

I don’t think you get to be the person who gets to judge people’s trauma do you? Additionally don’t compare peoples trauma it’s incredibly disrespectful of the trauma they have.

Extreme dislike of episode 9 & 10. It was absolutely disgusting in every possible way, especially the din of inequity underneath the church which was stupid and absurd. 10 was totally weird up until the parallel dialogue between boss Lady and Ted.

Yeah the only thing i didn't like about this episode was Rebecca's feelings towards her father. There's nothing in this episode to indicate he was a bad father to her. Her attitude towards him seemingly comes from her knowing he cheated on her mom. That was between her dad and her mom. This whole "loyalty" to a parent thing is ridiculous. Never understood it. Who your parents sleep with, is not your concern. Their relationship is not your concern. You don't get to decide how they live their lives or if they have an open relationship or whatnot. That very idea grosses me out as much as dad's who are all up in their daughter's sex life trying to keep them virgins. Unless her dad was abusive towards her, she has zero reason to act that way towards him.

Her feelings are completely fucking justified, and you’re even more wrong about your opinion here because you completely missed the entire fucking point of the end of the episode, where Ted tells Rebecca a story about meeting your father and REMINDS HER that HE WAS at least sometimes a good father.

What a strange way to see this situation. It's perfectly normal to be angry at someone for hurting a person you love and for finding out someone you trusted is actually a cheater, even if you're not the one he cheated on. Rebecca's parents were not in an open relationship.
