Make sure you are on the latest operating system. At the moment, that is iOS 18.1... There were a few glitches in the earlier versions that have mostly been resolved by now. If that's still not working, let me know and hopefully we can help you sort it out.

A new feature called Hover Typing may further support low-vision users with different typing needs on the touchscreen. It can be found by going to Settings>Accessibility>keyboards & Typing>Hover Typing. Hover Typing will display larger text while typing. The user can also choose where this text will be displayed. You can certainly try... in most cases when it's saying it's wrong, you're probably using the wrong password. People commonly confuse their Apple ID password and their computer's password, which are different systems. There is a way that you can reboot your laptop and reset the password)... but that takes some decent technical skills. Apple may be able to help you with that if you call them.

As an IT guy, I don’t see anything blatant but it’s important to note that Apple’s RCS (to Android) aren’t encrypted yet but that’s likely to change at some point. Messages weren’t encrypted prior to RCS (using SMS) anyways though. As usually with any OS overhaul, updates generally come with weak links that get found/patched in the following updates. If you do use the Passwords app, then protect your phone through normal Face ID/Touch ID if you don’t already.

I don't expect any of these updates to create major security holes. Apple is pretty insistent about keeping the iPhone secure... so I am not worried about it. Certainly opening the door to RCS may have some unforeseen consequences (especially with scam and phishing texts) but nothing we haven't seen before with SMS.

Will all Apple intelligence features ever come to all devices like my iPhone 13 mini

It's really unlikely because Apple's intelligence requires quite a bit of processing power... and the iPhone chip that was built with the right amount of power for it was the iPhone 15 Pro. Future phones have even more space on the chip for what they call the neural engine to really solve that problem... but back when the iPhone 13 was created, nobody knew they were going to need the neural engine... so it's pretty much non-existent. The reality is that as Apple intelligence continues to evolve we will need faster and faster processors, and anything before the iPhone 15 Pro will be unlikely to ever get those tools. On top of that, as far as I'm concerned, an iPhone purchase is approximately a 2-3 year purchase for peak performance. After 2 years, the battery starts to degrade, and you have to spend money replacing it... After 3 years, it starts to fall a little behind in current technology. I tend to replace my phones every year when the new ones come out, and I know that most people can't (or don't want to) change their phones as often..., but I don't think we should be of the mindset that a phone should last 5 or 6 years because they just won't. Your 13 mini is a good phone today, but a year from now, you should definitely be looking at an upgrade.

Absolutely, inside the Photos app, in the 'Utilities' collection, you'll find a section for duplicates. Clicking that will show you any pictures that the phone recognizes as complete or very similar duplicates and you can remove them there. In my opinion, you should be very cautious when doing this because sometimes the phone may assume something is a duplicate when really it's a picture you edited or made changes to, and there are slight differences between the two 'duplicates'. It can be a good way to clean stuff up... just be wary of removing all the duplicates at once without taking a close look at them.

What do you mean Amazon upload? Are you talking about the Amazon store, Amazon Prime, or something completely different? In most cases that's related to your Wi-Fi and/or cellular connection... not your phone, but being that it's a new phone and a new operating system it might just need a restart. How are iMessage, Messages, and Facebook connected? I tried looking it up but am still very confused.

iMessage is Apple‘s texting system that works on computers, iPads and iPhones. It only works between Apple devices. Messages is a messaging app created by Facebook, that requires people to have a Facebook account in order to connect with them. It can be used on phones and computers or through the web… And does not Care whether you are on Apple, android or PC. But runs through Facebook… Facebook is a company (their parent company is called Meta) that owns Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook… And is a corporation that has consistently been caught stealing user information, and reducing privacy for their users. On Apple devices iMessage is the fastest, easiest and best way to communicate with other Apple users without degrading your privacy or requiring your recipients to have a Facebook or Instagram or WhatsApp account. Great question, Armando! 😊 In iOS 18, if your friend’s contact has the wrong photo, you can manually update it. Just go to the Photos app, find the correct picture of the person, tap the "i" icon, and choose Add to People. Then, select or merge it with the right contact. It is a part of the iOS 18.1 update that will be released in October. S it tight, it's coming (but will only work on the iPhone 15pro or later...)

Having the ability to record notes via audio, automatically transcribing as a visual text, as well as adding it to Voice Memos is the best of both worlds.....I've used Voice Memos to record my Thoughts for a long time, but no transcribing. Doing this simple measure taps into the mental process that dredged up ideas, and expands their sphere of use.

Is there an option to auto.have the option to translate right into mail or message?

Yes, if you press and hold on a message (in text or email) one of the options is "Translate". Also, if you select text and then click through the arrows in the pop-up menu, one of the options there is "Translate". You can't have it do it automatically without creating a Siri shortcut for that, but one button click is pretty easy to do.

Can you talk about the Safari ‘Remove Distractions’?

Hands down my favorite new tool. I am making a video soecifically about it, and it shoul dbe released soon. It is an easy tool to remove distracting elements from websites (like when google asks you to sign in or when a page asks you to accept cookies). It's not effective with ads (adblockers work better for those), but it is really good for those other annoying parts of many web pages.

It will be released when Apple Intelligence comes out with iOS 18.1... it's still in Beta at the moment but is being refined and should be released in October.

Apple Intelligence will be released on October 28th as part of the iOS 18.1 update. Until then, it is not available for wide release. When it does release, it will bring Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro and later. So as long as you have one of those phones, you should be fine. Sit tight...

Unfortunately, you cannot use send later when the recipient is using an android. If I’m using an iPad I can use send later to android devices but the option is not available on iPhone or the Mac. Apple says they are working on it.

Also true. It's a new tool, so I have heard of several issues using it so far. I am running the next iOS (18.1) and is defintely more reliable, but still not 100%.
