Same here. Have a fiesta ecoboost for 11 years and have been servicing it every year. Have never had any issues. I hear so much that the wet belts are always an issue on these engines but still running well hitting 80k soon, haven’t changed the wet belt yet, but may do soon!
@insertnamehere566010 ай бұрын
The ecoboost generally is a reliable engine if you service it properly. But a lot of people do not, and they drive the car as if its a 1.6 and it's not, its a 3 pot engine the size of A4 paper. If you are going to rag it about then you need to do the maintenance to give it a fighting chance, if you are going to be flooring the car everywhere then be prepared to change the belt earlier. Sure, you shouldn't have to change the belt so early, but its how it is and if you're going to drive it hard, then you are going to pay the price (£1000 - £1600). The idea of the turbo on the ecoboost is to give the engine a bit more help accelerating, it is not going to cope with race car driving. In general if you drive the car normally and service it following the plan then you've got nothing to worry about (the one in the video was a different story lol)

I will replace the belt and ancillaries at 100,000, just over 4,000 to go, as I believe that is a sensible measure. Recently spent over £500 for new front brakes and tyres, both needed. In every other respect my Ford has been reliable with only a worn key causing a starting problem. Had an oil analysis a few months ago and the wear levels were very low. Drive it sensibly, don’t rev it when cold, service it with the right oil (even if a local independent garage). I’m confident that once the belt is replaced I will get many more miles of trouble free motoring.
@insertnamehere56609 ай бұрын

Great Video, love how you explain everything in detail too, I subscribed to your channel pal ☺️ I really can't get why any vehicle manufacturer would think submerging a Rubber belt in oil would be a good idea, all it does is cause problems, premature wear/failure, it does nothing to increase the belts lifespan. Now, would a Wet chain be have been any different perhaps? Don't know if oil would cause the chain to slip though.

19k miles in 3 years they don't need a diesel no wonder the dpf has gone, they don't drive it long enough to regen
@lint83918 ай бұрын
Regardless of the driving style, the DPF should last for 200,000 miles minimum. A lack of regens wouldn't cause the DPF to come unwelded from the frame or to develop holes. It's under-engineering or poor quality control that's resulted in that DPF failure.

Range rovers are expensive but all you ever hear about is their lack of reliability fault after fault. Not only that they're so easily stolen. Got to disagree with this constant eco boost slagging off. 1.0 eco boost is a good engine if its maintained properly and having the correct oil. Forget the 150k belt change interval and go for 8-9 years or 70,000 miles. Yeah it's a big job. But the days of 30 quid maintenance are over. Wrong oil breaks down the belt quicker and compared to the BMW mini that people rave about?? With a timing chain but with plastic tensioners for noise reduction. They wear quite quick. Generally due to poor maintenance? Jump a tooth on the timing and the super duper engine WILL eat itself! All cars nowadays are a gamble. I don't have any links with Ford but I'm just saying how it is. Rather a 1.0 ecoboost fiesta than some of these French and Malaysian brands. These are just another two with serious issues!
@lint83918 ай бұрын
Compare it to a Toyota with the 1.4 diesel engine, with timing chains that have a great reputation for lasting and lasting. I think it's completely daft and quite evil that S Khan has priced Euro 4 and 5 Toyota 1.4D's out of driving in Greater London.

Since then 17,000 trouble free miles (apart from having to recalibrate air mass sensor after replacing air filter). With 2 oil changes - which I do myself and are quick and easy to do. When I start hearing timing chain slap I'll take it to my local specialist for a £1,000 job. The thing is, it's such a nice car to drive and not too bad on the fuel consumption that I can forgive it if it's not quite as reliable as the Volvo D5's I've owned in the past.
