to give Nia the benefit of doubt I think she meant that you peak as an adult in you 30s to 40s which goes for guys too. not biological peak but maturity in life and stability with who you are. you have more knowledge and experience and still enough youth and energy to be active, it's a happy middle ground.

Age differences like that are just weird to me. Mid 40s and early 20s tells me he was seen as a mature and “worldly” type of guy by her and she was very impressionable. Now she is older and smarter and it worries him that she’ll see through his bullshit.

50 definitely hits differently than 40 did. I didn't exactly feel young at 40 but I still felt like I had a whole lot more life ahead of me than behind me. But at 50 so many things have become an issue in my health in the last 10 years and I rightly recognize that I probably have fewer years ahead of me than behind me and that health issues will only continue to accumulate not diminish.

@fire rises Depends what peak you are referring to. Men peak sexually at 18 and then it is all downhill. Just a fact. Might not be way downhill until you're 40 or so. But it is downhill.
@adgato754 жыл бұрын
@fire rises You are using the term "sexual peak" wrong. It is used to refer to potency , testosterone production , virility , etc. All of that INEVITABLY goes only down , not up as men age. It is medical fact. You seem to be referring to men's ability to attract female attention based on a variety of social of factors. That is not what "sexual peak" means , when people use the phrase in articles or commentaries.
@adgato754 жыл бұрын
@fire rises Yeah , that is totally true. And men can indeed stretch it out much longer , due to the fact that men's resources and power ( however it is expressed ) tend to grow as they get older and more successful.

Me and my man are 13 years apart (he is older than I am) and we have been together 18 years (Im early 40's and he is in his mid 50's). When we met the age difference made for some interesting times but as time has gone on we have grown closer together in our day to day lives. He does his thing, I do mine (my 2 grown children still live at home when not at university so I have plenty to keep me busy as does he). If you feel that your older partner is growing older at a faster rate than you are then please stop kidding yourself - even though you may be in your 30's, you won't be for long and remember that it's only just over 10 years between your 30's and your 50's and he may just be looking at you and thinking - I wish you were still in your 20's, or maybe even a teen. After all, you married him. Time's a bitch - don't give it too much thought, you'll only die waiting.

When people talk about a man or woman's peak being at different times, in this case Nia said women peak in their 40s, what are they referring to? I guess immediately after the peak if the decline so maybe it makes sense since the noticeable decline begins in their 40s for a lot of people, but for some reason that just sounds a little off to me. Maybe its referring to all aspects of life put together, not just physically.

I thought this was straight out of many episodes of "Modern Family". I didn't find the age difference weird and I don't think she has daddy issues. She seems like a loving partner, but also one that doesn't just accepts the crap her husband gives her and she's looking for answers. We also don't know what made her husband change in such a short time. Younger guys getting promoted at work before him and he feels emasculated? He doesn't know how to express it and takes his insecurities out on his wife? Maybe communication is the only key to solve this issue and there shouldn't exist the idea of a dynamic or power struggle in a relationship because that negates any dialog both parties can have on the same terms. Relationships are hard enough as they are. There's no need to compete who wears the trousers in that relationship.

We stayed close friends, still all 4 of us travel together time to time, usually to Europe, but now only as friends, no benefits. I once read a novel with the exact same story. The couple had a 22 year difference, when she was born he held her before her dad, and even named her, he was THAT old. Somehow the girl falls in love with so when she's 15 she asks him out. He panics and runs away from the country. The girl rushes and marries a guy when she's only 16 just to destroy her life out of spite 🤷🏻♀️ and before she has her son at 17 the husband dies. Now she's a widow. Years later when the guy is in his late 40's (still single), the girl (25), now a doctor, meets up with him again and after reconciliation they end up getting married. 8 years into the marriage and the dude starts developing this inferiority complex about his age and gives his wife a hard time because of it. Further this guy moves into their house and the ML feels threatened by him. It escalates and the dude discards his wife who ends up dying of thyroid cancer at a young age and that's when the other guy tells him that he's her son from her first marriage. The end was that the dude had trust issues because his mom left him for another guy so whether he married a young woman or not he would've done the same. The son teaches him that he went through the same but didn't despise his mother for that blah blah and there is no happy ending. The point is, the story was too similar to it, I just wanted to comment that. Btw the novel is Mehrunnisa (مہرالنساء). I don't know if there is an English version.
