LCD Soundsystem and it’s the same but It’s The Dare so it’s not.
@brokengirrafe4 ай бұрын
The LCD influence is obvious, but I think that the one reference point everyone in the comments is missing is the debut Calvin Harris album, I Created Disco - the I Destroyed Disco track is just a dead giveaway. Same dance-punk stylings, same indie sleaze, lots of bangers, but also quite messy. Honestly, the best approach for The Dare would be to continue producing for bigger artists. Guess made him a promising upandcomer in the industry, it’d be smart to work from within to bring this style back in fashion, only to return later with a more refined solo effort.

Why is everybody convinced the only thing this album is trying to do is be a 2000s revival? There are some valid points in this review but y'all are so confused abt whether the album succeeds at being something I don't think it's primarily focused on doing. Like it's kind of a satire of a revival I feel like that's sorta the point of the title, he's not really asking what's wrong with new york he's making fun of the vibe of asking what's wrong with new york, but ultimately it's just fun music idk he's having fun. It totally succeeds at being its own vibe in a way everybody is missing by going so hard on comparing it to LCD.
