Michael Bell honestly I think if there are ice wights (Other’s undead followers) and Fire wights like Lady Stoneheart and Beric. I think Patchface is a Sea Wight. I mean it's not too far fetched. It really would be a song of ice and fire. Also I'm pretty sure the reason a lot of noble families have ancients Valyrian steel swords is because they were some of the leading heroes during the Long Night and were gifted Valyrian Steel swords to help fight off the children of the bloodstone emperor.

I know it's probably too late for you guys to even see this, buy I had a thought: What if Garth Greenhand was the Son of the Lion of Night, and the Maiden Made of Light First off, if both his parents were gods, that would make him a full on god, not a demigod like Garth's children. Secondly, think about all the Wives (and by extension children) the God on Earth had. Thirdly, the God on Earth was a perfect ruler, and being a good ruler includes caring about your people. If we accept that the First Men were citizens of the Great Empire of the Dawn (persecuted by the Bloodstone Emperor, maybe), than Garth, inspired by his compassion, would help his people, leading them to a new land. Fourthly, the stories say that Garth was first in Westeros thousands of years before the First Men arrived Just my crazy thoughts

15:30 "Brandon or his son, another Brandon." Seems likely that as the child of a god, he lived an unnaturally long life. Considering castles can take 20+ years to build. and he is said to build several, he likely did as well. Thus a "Brandon" was probably mentioned over so many years, that historians assumed it was more than one person. Also the children of gods marrying mortals and giving up their immortality, is used in Tolkien. And the unnatural long life of these dependents, that eventually blends to near average as they interbreed with more mortals, does as well. I would guess, that's an older trope, but I don't know any more examples.

Hey Greenhands👋! I have a question. As we know, the old powers are waking. We can see this through the Stark children's warging & skin changing abilities, which you've illustrated come from godly ancestors. My question is: At what point did these powers awaken in House Stark? If only 1 man in 1,000 is born a skin changer, and all 6 Stark children are skin changers, I find it hard to believe that no other Stark in the generations immediately preceding Ned's children had the gift. Second question: Do you guys think Lyanna Stark might've been a skin changer? With her being called a centaur, and referred to as being "half a horse", it makes me wonder... If she was bonded to one particular horse the way Bran is to Summer, it could explain her skill at jousting, which we know the key to is being a skilled rider. Not saying she skin changed while jousting; just that the skin changing might give her a special trust with the horse that other riders wouldn't have, and she could draw on that while riding. I also wonder about Brandon (Ned's brother), as he was also a noted passionate horse rider. But there's just not enough accounts of him in the books to know.

Not necessarily all of them, probably just the direct descendants from female lines that are still alive. If it is just house Stark, what makes them so special? Did they do something to that reignites their abilities or is it random?

The Stark's most likely have a higher chance of being skinchangers/green seers because they wed the Marsh King's daughters(who I suspect have the ability since they've been breeding with the children for awhile) and took Children of the forest as wives when they defeated the warg king. So they've got a slightly higher rate of the genes(I guess you'd call it that) that would carry the magical abilities. And they've got wildling blood in them as well.

Beyond what the poster above me has mentioned, the Starks also simply had a much lower rate of marriage into andal houses, so there is more "pure" blood, or the God-blood of Garth in their veins, essentially giving them a higher percentage chance of the magics carried in this blood manifesting

loved the video! excited to see the official video since we have delved into some of these things together a little bit. Really interested to hear how you think Ice became Lady Forlorn. It is definitely the oldest family sword in Westeros. I am personally torn because GRRM did not want Lady Forlorn to be referred to as "valyrian" steel in AWOIAF which means it either isn't valyrian steel in canon or it means that he did not want it revealed that it was a valyrian steel sword because there is a twist to the origin of the sword that he wants to address personally in the series in his own time. It's hard for me to believe that is an ordinary sword though because if it was than it would have probably been shattered during the battle of the red grass field when it clashed with the Blackfyre sword for an entire hour (a ridiculously long time for a sword fight) before Daemon Blackfyre finally gained the upper hand and won the duel. I'm sure that you might not want to respond to all this because you're saving info for your next video. Can't wait!

Very good video! I really do like the way you pick up on the little details in World of Ice and fire that are completely missable. One thing I would really contest is the notion that the citadel supports the Faith of the Seven. The World of Ice and Fire is packed full of references where Yandel - and by extension the citadel - picks apart the mythos the Faith of the Seven passed down to the Westerosi people. It's also worth noting that the Faith of the Seven became *less* filled with Divine Action and Mythic Consequences (like we see in Brandon's tale) only once it reached Westeros - once in Westeros it changed from a mythos where seven gods walked among the the Hills of Andalos, and the native Andals, annointing Hugor as King, to the fairly sterile body it is now. The Citadel was founded not by Andals, but by the First Men, of House Hightower. The novels and other lore also extend on this theme. The Faith is also a competing source of learning and knowledge (Barth was educated by them) and the Citadel loathe competition. The citadel definitely *do not* support the line of the faith, if anything, they are an entirely irreligious, anti-faith order.

After seeing the pages in Sam's book in episode 1 this season, I think Bran used Dragon glass to build Storm's End, the Wall, and other buildings. On the page, it said that the Valyrian's used Dragon fire to melt Dragon glass and make sculptures and buildings with it. I believe it said these buildings were "seamless". Like Storm's End is described here. Which leads me to suspect that Rhaegar's harp was made with Dragon glass. And probably Valyrian steel as well...

Great stuff! Caught 7-8 vids in last 3-4 days. Very original and cohesive. I agree with you about the children, Catelyn, Jon (Ned and Ashara), Dawn. and Littlefinge. Your stuff on Bloodraven being tricked is great as well as your theory on the faceless men. I love your theories about the weirwoods. I just don't think there is an overarching god structure and there is no magic except corpse animation, telepathy and glamour. when we first read TWOIAF, we didn't understand how to break it down and struggled with it for a while until we realized we needed to view it as written with the Citadel's bias...when we did the Tywin videos was when it really cleared up for me...when I realized the whole thing was written from Pycelle's accounts of the time, and that the other information in it is similarly biased based on politics of the time in which it was written...then it started to make sense to me

When reading it through the lens of a maester who just wants to "stay in the garden" and not push any political buttons, it is VERY revelatory. Interesting that there's no little to no info on Qarth, and little about Asshai. Both places are mentioned numerous times in the main series. I think one purpose of the book may be to establish places and lore if George wants to go there in the future, but I can also appreciate it for what it is - a collection of places, people, and history that we will never know about. Unfortunately, George can only write so much. We've had sample chapters of WoW out since 2012. Just saying....

One point I like to make is that a POV character has only encountered the Others twice: First in the prologue of GoT, then Sam's encounter in ASoS. That's it. They are talked about, and the wights are certainly present often, but the Others themselves are not featured directly more than twice.

It seems extremely important that Bran designed his first Castle as a child, and that in doing so, demonstrated understanding that surpassed the capabilities of experienced adult architects and engineers. While it is possible that his lineage made him a naturally gifted engineer, that seems like a thin justification since we have no other examples in Thrones where parentage results in seemingly supernatural technical understanding or know-how. Thrones does, however, possess an example of a child named Bran being fed knowledge and instructions magically from a far. It seems safe to assume that Bran the Builder began receiving instruction around the time of the design of his first holdfast.

I agree with Princess PZE Rigney. I love your videos too and binge watched them, now. They are so insightful and intriguing. Keep up the good work! A question: As for the crown/garland consisting of blue winter roses. How could Rhaegar afford/get so much of these roses as you said at 7:22 that the only grow in the glass gardens Winterfell. Or that he would make a garland of them - that takes time. Maybe it indicates that Rhaegar and Lyanna know each other prior (even before the Tourney?). The Knight of the Laughing Tree indicate that as much, that they at least get to know each other at the Tourney. I highly doubt the Starks exceptionally for Lyanna would bring so much winter roses to the tourney in the south.

Just wanted to point this out. What if Garth's male children's magic wasn't what most people would consider magic. But was more subtle magic. Like Skinchanging is obvious and can be demonstrated but what if Garth's sons inherited magic that say increased their speed, their strength, or their toughness. Not as easily shown but in my opinion just as important and powerful. After all Brandon of the Bloody Blade literally fought enough of the Children to turn a lake red with blood. If that doesn't take super human strength speed and endurance I'm not sure what does.

Honestly that’s exactly what I want. I rather watch a show about Garth’s descendants and the Age of Hero’s than whatever they are trying. They are told almost like fairy tales so thy could be inventive with personalities and conflicts as long as they stuck to the major points we know.

I want to point out that I was visiting university of Arizona and it was mentioned during a garden tour that they have genetically engineered a blue rose... Also. if blue roses only grow in Winterfell, Where did Rhaegar get a crown of them for Lyanna? Presumably they were provided by the tournament host, who could have them shipped. But that would support the case that Rhaegar specifically ordered them, since he set up the tourney. So did he know he was crowning Lyanna before the tourney started? My understanding was that they had met there for the first time? But Rumor has it that he cheated to win, so why was WINNING so important? What was the prophecy?

it seems like there would be a lot of rare and costly things for sale at an event such as Harrenhal...Rhaegar might have bought them...or the crown of blue roses was the crown for the queen of love and beauty...it would make sense for an event like that to have their flower crown made of the most rare and costly flowers in the realm

I love this type of thing when everyone is knowledgeable! The hosts couldn't be better! Dan has great input about the show, ( he has read the books also) and both of you bring deep insight from the books. Some people still fail to realize that as George has stated, they are two separate stand alone stories therefore we have to discuss book and show versions of events. that would be something...when we started doing this, we mostly wanted to do it because we thought we had a few ideas that we hadn't seen anywhere else, and for the most part we just wanted to be able to prove that we "called it" but we never imagined people would care what we thought...it seemed like for months, we had one fan, and we almost stopped doing it, but then George answered our question about the Order of the Green Hand, and we got a little wind in our sails and that night we decided to at least make all the videos up through the KG being alive before we quit if we still had no one watching, and as if it was on cue, like the day after George answered us, people started watching our channel...the talking thrones thing should be coming out next week some time...he asked us and a few other channels to participate and asked that we get him the audio by Sunday so he can put it all together into a finished product and get it out a few days before the show airs

The content was very lacking in insight and seemed virtually unrelated to anything I had read. Latter, I found a few small channels and began sharing thoughts and theories with them. When I first found your work it was a wonderful validation that someone else interpreted the depth of the books in the same manner as I did. I began to share your videos across the larger sites that were often missing important details of the story. I agree with 99% of your interpretations, and really enjoy your work immensely! It truly brightens my day! Request your input on the following. Did you notice that Benjen gave Bran rabbit blood instead of cooked meat? Why blood? is it just a hat tip to "jojen paste" from the books? Why raw blood, is his magic a form of blood magic? ?I believe that LF is a powerful skinchanger of primarily cats while in KL, and possibly birds such as the gyrfalcon he gave to Robyn Arryn. LF has remarked that his great grandfather was from bravos, (possible faceless men association). I've been wondering what his fascination with the crane, and whent bloodlines and Harrenhall is about. There was some serious research gone into this one, respect guys. Interesting, you mentioned George's World, I have always thought Planetos to be representative of Earth in terms of important geographical locations. Get a map of westeros and essos, superimpose it on a world map of Earth, align it so that the North encompasses the British isles, with Dorne stretching down to the top half of Algeria. Ashai lies around India or possibly even as far as China, not sure on the scale there. Egypt is right around where slavers bay is located. I havent done the math but I'm pretty sure it lines up close. So imagine maybe an alternate timeline with very different sea levels, as we had as recently as 10000 BC. 400ft difference to be specific. Im rambling, but this stuff fascinates me. Sothoros would be representative of Africa, just not in the same spot, jungles etc. Ulthos could be Australia. Then what's west if westeros? The New world. Which is actually the old world, if you take it on a longer timescale. Same as with us and the stuff we're discovering about the peopling of the Americas.

The Order of the Green Hand to keep it away from the north maybe? Humor me for a minute, but what if dawn was wielded by an ancient stark who committed terrible acts with it? Like what if the knight's king used it with his sorcery so the starks gave it to the daynes to get it as far away from the north as possible? Dawn's own symolism seems to coincide with the others and the wall (pale, milkglass, alive with light etc) which leads me to believe dawn has to do with ice as valyrian swords have to do with fire. When ned's "ice" is described, it is dark and red, the exact opposite of what one would think of when imagining a sword called ice.

it seems to me that the founder of House Dayne's legend wouldn't include how he forged Dawn if a Stark really did it and then gave it to them...Dawn resembles the pale flame swords in Dany's dream about what appeared to be the Gemstone Emperors a lot more, except it is solid pale flame...unless he is trying to claim that the Daynes and the Starks are actually the same family, which I have a hard time seeing cause the Daynes have a semi-valyrian look and I've never seen an example of a Stark that looked like that, I can't imagine a circumstance where the Starks would give their sword to someone else willingly...and Ned's sword isn't red...it's dark grey...Arya thinks the comet reminds her of her father's sword but that doesn't mean Ned's sword is red
