That lady Louise would probably be even more successful than 90% of painting content creators on KZbin etc if she went indie at this point with a good production crew. Just like with Duncan and Peachy: everyone likes her, everyone thinks she is cool, and she is really good at her job. She should start her own business. I'd say she is just waiting a bit and riding on the security of the role for now. I would bet in the future eventually she will be her own brand. If a company like GW wants to keep staff like these people, in this day and age, they need to make much more effort to support and fund them. People who are so creative and engaging can get money doing all kinds of jobs, they only keep working for GW because they love the hobby so much.

I also developed an allergy when I went away to study. We used to have cats. My cat was about 16 years old or so at that point and we had her mother for like 6 years or so before her. When I started studying she stayed with my mom. I then thought for a good couple months that every time I'm staying at my Mom's I'm on the brink of getting a cold. Every time. In summer. I then slowly realised that it goes away after I leave again and that it has to do with my cat. But to more important things: I heard that peachy actually had to leave because he would demand all people who had dogs at GW to bring their dog and have them lick his face and would then beat up the owners for them giving him allergies. It was very messy.

Spoke to the manager at my local GW, apparently the issues with delivery are due to a new computer system in the new warehouse not talking to the old computer systems so it's basically saying there's no stock. They've had to go round & scan EVERY item by hand as part of the solution to reset the system & get it working/talking to the existing systems...

All the talk of misdelivered packages reminded me of one time I ordered a poster frame, and thought it had arrived from Amazon, but when I open it up it was a lifesize cardboard cutout of a cow. Turns out it was for someone else who lived miles away and the frame showed up later on. But Amazon didn't have any interest in redelivering it to the right address(I guess it's cheaper for them to just send a replacement to the disappointed cow fanatic), so I now have a giant cardboard cow in the spare room.

Oh man 2006 to about 2012 in the studio was a great time. Working with you Peachy as well as Dunc, the artists, sculptors and writers! It was an amazing time. One of my favourite memories was joking about with Aly Morrison at the time he was making the stompa. He said it’s a bit like a hat and then proceeded to walk about with the 3up on his head! 😂 It went downhill when the sculptors moved out of the studio to their own. I wasn’t allowed access and when I needed to see eavy metal to get minis for photography I had to ask to be let in and sign a register. Cherry on the cake was being told by management I wasn’t allowed to talk to the sculptors. That made me really nervous going down there especially when sculptors i’d worked with for over a decade would come and say hello 😢 All I could think was this is going to get reported. I’ve worked many places since and the management culture at GW is the worst. There’s great people and great managers there but the way managers are trained and encouraged to behave is terrible. More emphasis is placed on getting rid of people rather than lifting them up, helping and developing them. I was sad to leave, but the workload and management pressure had burnt me out. I miss the goblins but I have some great memories 😊

Yeah it’s definitely something that gotten worse overtime, though I think you give the managers to much credit when you say ‘trained’ I used to attend the academy sessions all the time and it was rare to see any studio managers there except myself, Joe L, and Tobias T. The rest I guess just thought they were too good for those sessions or to bad they would get exposed lol.

I think a company like workshop only has so many places you can go. Duncan and Peachy wanted more and had nowhere else to go and wanted to expand their horizons. They have ambition and drive those type of people make the best employees but almost always leave because they always make their own way. They are too big for workshop to constrain!
